Swiper, no swiping

Summary:

Flirting with the other to steal their wallet AU featuring officer Calum and criminal Michael.

Work Text:

Michael hadn't actually planned on doing anything illegal today. Normally when he went on his pick-pocketing escapades, he would have everything mapped out so as not to get caught. But today, he was bored and there was an opportunity lying before him that he just couldn't let go to waste. Like the godfather said: "It was an offer he couldn't refuse".

He was casually leaning against the brick wall, taking a drag from the cigarette clutched between his fingertips every so often, when he spotted a familiar face further down the street. He smirked and threw the cigarette to the floor, squishing the ashes beneath his Doc Martens.

"Officer Calum! How are you?" he teased, as he approached his dear ol' friend officer Calum T. Hood.

Officer Calum and Michael had history. Michael, being the troublemaker that he is, had been in and out of the system. The young officer had been called to arrest Michael on numerous occasions: mostly for petty theft or vandalism. Officer Calum was so familiar with the teen that he knew Michael's file from memory.

Calum tried to hide his distain for the teen, greeting Michael with a simple half-smile. He wasn't in the mood to deal with the delinquent's antics as he was in the middle of writing a speeding ticket for this woman who had been going 75 in a 50 zone. It was important business and Michael knew that, he just didn't care. In fact, if it wasn't already obvious, he didn't really care for authority in general.

"So tell me, what's my favourite officer doing today?" Michael asked.

"I'm in the middle of something important, Michael," officer Calum sighed. "Just tell me what you want and leave."

"Feisty! I like it," Michael chuckled.

"You're free to go mam," Calum handed the woman the ticket. "Have a good day and make sure to drive carefully next time."

The woman stared at Calum and the ticket scornfully before snatching it from his hands. Michael cheekily winked at her, to which she replied to with an obscene finger gesture and drove off. Calum sighed, shaking his head, before heading back to his own car.

"Wait!" Michael shouted, grasping the back of Calum's shirt.

"What do you want now, Michael?" officer Calum asked. Quite frankly, Calum was getting exasperated with the boy's childish antics.

"I actually came over because I wanted to tell you how hot you look in your uniform today."

"Thanks Michael," Calum rolled his eyes. "Can I leave now?"

"No, there's something else," Michael grinned.

Michael drew closer to the confused officer and leant forward, so his mouth was right next to Calum's ear; a hand cupped around his own lips so that only Calum would hear what he said. He whispered softly in his ear, uttering some very explicit words that caused the young officer to turn a bright shade of pink.

"Um, I uh, um-" Calum stuttered, unsure how to react to that.

"Thanks for the chat officer Calum," Michael smirked, smacking Calum's bottom playfully before pulling away from the officer entirely.

Calum watched in shock as Michael walked back down the street, swaying his hips ever so slightly to tease the still-staring officer. That boy was a complete and utter menace. The young officer contemplated arresting the teen for sexual harassment, but decided it wasn't worth his time. Calum turned on his heels, ready to attend his next task, when he noticed something unusual. For some reason, his pants felt significantly lighter around the hips. The realisation hit him and he quickly rummaged his hands in his back pockets only to find out his hunch was correct: his wallet was missing. He then came to the realisation that Michael had planned this from the moment he first greeted him.

"Michael!" he roared, running after the teen.

Michael chuckled, having heard Calum's shriek from a mile away. He picked up the pace and sprinted to the motorcycle he had hidden around the block. Swiftly, he hopped onto the vehicle, kick-starting the engine, before speeding away.

"Get back here Clifford!" he heard Calum shout in the distance, but by then, it was too late for the officer. Michael had already submerged into traffic, leaving no room for Calum to follow him.

"Damn it," Calum cursed under his breath, punching the door of his car in anger. The effort did nothing but bruise his knuckles and leave him with an overwhelming sense of embarrassment.  He had let Michael slip through his fingers once again.

While Calum continued to sulk, Michael was already back at his place, flicking through the stolen wallet. It was a small wallet, but he had found a wad of cash, some credit cards, and a flimsy photo of Calum and his work partner, officer Ashton. Michael remembered the other officer from one time he had accompanied Calum on an arrest. Michael kept the cash to himself, stuffing the notes into his pillowcase with the rest of his stolen inventory. While the extra cash was a nice steal, it wasn't what Michael considered his most valuable sweep. What he was really interested in was an old police badge he had found stashed inside, along with an ID card transcribing Calum's birth details and home address on it. Michael looked at the two objects with glee. The teen had a special surprise in store for officer Calum and these items would come in handy. You can bet Michael was going to have fun with this.
