It had been an awful day. The hospital was so overcrowded that they had the hallways in the ER holding patients. Her feet were throbbing, and every muscle hurt. Being a resident sucked. What’s worse is that since she’s a woman, the patients assume the male nurses know more than she does because they have a penis and not a fucking vagina! As if that stopped her from graduating medical school! Sexist, misogynistic, bastards. How was it so ingrained that a woman can’t be a doctor unless it’s an OB/GYN? She’s a damn good doctor. She graduated top of her class and busted her ass every step of the way! How dare they! She got into her car and let out an angry growl that would have impressed Inuyasha. Of course, she learned it from him.
It didn’t take long after he popped in her head for the anger to dissipate. She’s not sure how, but somehow she can’t stay mad at the world when she’s thinking about her Hanyou hubby. He somehow makes everything better, even when he’s not there.
But she would be with him soon, especially since the lucky Dog was on vacation. She hadn’t been employed long enough to get a full vacation. But she had the next couple days off since she’s worked so much overtime the last couple of days. At least they had a few days to actually spend together.
She sent him a quick text that she was on her way, and received a response of, “Ok, drive safely. Love you.”
She turned on her playlist and drove home, belting out the lyrics to all of her favorite songs. When she pulled in, she saw that the lawn had been mowed, and all the clippings picked up. He really was perfect. She walked into the house and was met by the most gorgeous golden eyes ever. The fanged grin was enough to turn her to jelly. She was so in love with him.
“Heya Beautiful. I’ve got a surprise for you.”
She couldn’t hold back the smile. “I saw, thank you for cutting the grass. I thought you were gonna relax for your first day of vacation.”
He let out a “Keh,” before shaking his head. “That ain’t the surprise. That just needed done.”
Her eyes went wide, and she looked around, searching for whatever the surprise may be.
He took her hand and pulled her down the hallway and into the bathroom. There she saw their tub filled with hot bubbly water, and candles lit around the room.
“You sounded like you were stressed out in the small amount of time we had to speak. I kinda thought ya might need this.”
She wanted to cry. He was so beyond perfect. Her vision turned watery as she jumped into his arms.
“Hey now, I’ve got ya. You’re gonna relax into a hot bath, I used your favorite stuff, and then we’ll go to part two of the surprise, ok? But for now you rest and relax for a bit. I’ve got your towel on the hanger over there and some clean clothes on the shelf. Meet me in the dining room when you’re all done.”
He gave her a soft kiss on the top of her head before peeling her off of him and leaving the bathroom. After grabbing the towel, she sank into the hot water. She really was the luckiest girl in the world. She had the best man on the face of the planet, and she was pretty darn sure all the other planets would think so too.
She lost track of time for a bit, but the water felt so good on her sore and aching muscles, she was hesitant to get out. But part two was just as important. She had to know what he had in store for her. She climbed out of their big soaker tub and dried off and got dressed. It felt just as good to be clean as it did to have relaxed in the tub. She gave her body a good stretch before leaving the bathroom and as she entered the hallway; she was hit with a very particular scent. Her eyes went wide. She stepped into the dining room to have dinner being served. Her favorite dinner.
“Inu, you hate curry.”
“Keh, I’ve gotten used to it, and I don’t make it nearly as spicy as you do, but I also made gyoza so I don’t have ta eat too much of the curry. Besides, you like it. It’s worth a little burn to see you so happy.”
She couldn’t hold back anymore. The tears started pouring, even though the smile remained fixed in place. The slight look of panic on his face had her shaking her head.
“I really am the luckiest girl in the world. I love you, Inuyasha.”
He grinned, then half turned for a moment and pulled out a single red rose. “I’m the lucky one, Kagome. I love you too.”
