Work Text:
Giuk woke up in the middle of the night with his body feeling achy and abnormally warm. He felt like there was a very hot, weighted blanket over him that he couldn’t take off of his body. His throat felt sore and scratchy despite the fact that he hadn’t spoken; he could still feel it when he swallowed. As desperately as he knew he needed water and painkillers, he didn’t have the energy to get out of bed and didn’t have the heart to wake Dongmyeong.
So ultimately, he decided to just suffer as he tried (and struggled) to fall back asleep. He would have to wait until the morning for all the things he needed. He struggled to get comfortable as he would start sweating the second he covered himself with the blanket yet he was shivering as if he were out in the snow with no clothes on. Eventually, though, he managed to fall asleep—his tiredness had fortunately managed to outweigh the effects of his fever.
The next time he woke up, he woke up with those same effects—the shivers, achiness—but with the addition of a pounding headache. Dongmyeong was well awake and probably already out doing things which would’ve screwed Giuk over. Still hardly able to move, he simply texted Dongmyeong to figure out if he was even home. It turned out that he was, and Giuk then requested a glass of water, a few cough drops and painkillers. Less than a minute later, Dongmyeong entered the room with just the things Giuk had requested—though he had brought a hot cup of tea instead of water—as well as a thermometer held against his hand and the mug.
“Good morning,” he hummed and smiled, sitting on the edge of the bed next to Giuk. He set everything in his hands other than the thermometer down on the bedside table and held Giuk’s hair back to take his temperature which confirmed that he, indeed, had a fever.
“You need to sit up just a little,” with a groan, Giuk sat up in order to take the medicine. Immediately after, he fell right back down to a lying position. He shut his eyes as Dongmyeong combed through Giuk’s hair.
“Do you want something to eat?”
“I feel like I would throw up,” Dongmyeong hummed an Okay and continued to play around with Giuk’s hair. He continued for a few moments more before deciding to leave Giuk alone to rest.
“I’ll come back to check on you a little later, alright? Try to sleep for now,”
“Thank you, Myeong,” Dongmyeong exited the room with a smile on his face. Giuk slept but not for long, for he woke up just an hour later, inevitably wanting Dongmyeong to come back so they could cuddle.
are you still home?
myeongie :))
yea, I’m here. what do you need?
cuddles :((
Dongmyeong entered the room even quicker than he did the last time. “Hi,” he hummed, this time with an even bigger smile. He laid down beside Giuk and allowed him to make himself comfortable. Giuk buried his head close to Dongmyeong’s chest and their legs tangled together. Dongmyeong held Giuk in a hug-like position, only laying down.
“I’m enjoying this clingy side of you, you should get sick more often,”
“Please no, I feel like death,”
“I’m kidding… sort-of,”
Dongmyeong held Giuk’s waist with his hand and rubbed just below his ribcage in a continuous back-and-forth pattern. Giuk moved the arm that was facing the ceiling over Dongmyeong’s waist and he began to very lightly tap his index finger against his upper back.
“I have a headache again,” Dongmyeong shifted a bit so that he could give Giuk a kiss on the forehead.
“My lips hurt, too,” Giuk said, holding back a smile. Dongmyeong cringed.
“That was terrible. Don’t waste my time with cheesy pickup lines, just ask me to kiss you,” Dongmyeong said, not wasting a second after that to give Giuk a kiss on the lips, though he was smiling the whole time.
“You ruined it,”
“Well, I’m sorry,” Giuk said sarcastically, going in for another kiss though ending up laughing through that one, too. So Dongmyeong tried again but Giuk’s laughter managed to spread to him. Giuk, then, had stopped laughing and simply laid there and stared at Dongmyeong as he broke into a fit of laughter.
“I love you, but if you can’t pull it together and kiss me in the next ten seconds I’m going to have to break up with you,” Giuk joked.
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry,” Dongmyeong finally gathered himself and stared at Giuk who was glaring at him. Dongmyeong moved the hand resting on Giuk’s waist up to his cheek and kissed him for real.
“That took way too long,”
“Well, how can I make up for it?” Dongmyeong asked with another kiss, moving his hand back down to Giuk’s waist to resume that same back-and-forth motion with his thumb.
“You can’t leave me until I’m not sick anymore,” with a very light sigh, Dongmyeong agreed and Giuk gave him one last kiss before readjusting himself slightly to an even more comfortable position to fall asleep.
