Work Text:
It was late at night, and several soldiers were resting, but the redhead was in the barracks kitchen, preparing the captain's tea with a smile while waiting for the drink to be ready.
When the tea was finally ready he put the pot on a tray next to a couple of cups and a plate with cookies that he had prepared in the morning.
With a smile, he took the tray with both hands, being careful not to drop anything, starting to walk towards the captain's office, hoping that he would still be there.
When he arrived he pouted when he noticed that the door was closed, since he had no idea how to knock, until he tapped his foot, hearing a "I'm going" with some annoyance so he thought about going back to the kitchen, but then she remembered that the one with jet-black hair didn't like jokes, so she better stayed, waiting to be received.
— Good evening, captain! —
— What do you have there? — The blue-eyed one mentions, who arched an eyebrow when he saw the tray that the girl had in her hands..
— It's your usual tea, I prepared it for you so you wouldn't have the trouble to make it yourself —
— It is not necessary, but thank you — He commented, with his serious expression that he used to have all the time — But try not to come here at this hour, Hange is probably still awake — He closed his eyes with a little annoyance remembering how it used to be the chestnut
— It's okay! I will be more careful —
— Can you tell why two cups?—
— I assumed you wouldn't like to have tea alone so I thought I'd join you if you allow it.— I waited for a negative answer, but only managed to hear an almost imperceptible laugh, which he took as confirmation.
He opened the door of his office again, entering and being followed by the girl — You can leave what you have on the desk —
He complied with the request, carefully leaving the tray on the aforementioned table and then starting to serve the drink — It's the tea you always drink, and by the way, I also brought some cookies —
The older man arched an eyebrow, he would be lying if he said he wasn't curious about the girl's attitude but he wouldn't ask why, the rumors were enough for him to know the reason.
When they finally brought him one of the cups, he quickly took a sip, enjoying the taste of the drink, noticing that this one had something unique that was different from the one he used to drink.
With his free hand he took one of the cookies, analyzing it and later began to taste it, now understanding why they always finished so quickly, the taste of the cookies was very good.
He watched the girl, who was sipping from her cup of tea in silence as she watched the liquid slowly drain away.
From time to time they commented something about the training or about the latest explorations outside the walls, but when the topics of conversation were finished a silence accompanied by the chirping of crickets accompanied them in the room.
Possibly the rumors about the attraction that the young woman felt for the captain were true, but she herself still did not confirm anything, although everyone already had the idea due to her behavior.
For the young woman, she had no problem with the rumors, she internally knew that they were true, but she would not make an effort to give any confirmation or explanation of the matter.
The way things were, he felt good.
