Work Text:
Floyd awoke to the familiar pull of invisible strings.
His eyes snapped open, and he eagerly slid from his bed. It was late, sure. Probably one AM at the latest. But he didn't care. Because the late night rendezvous with this entity were worth being sleepy in the morning!
He'd slip into his uniform, as the strings instructed, and headed out into Monstro Lounge. It was still dimly lit by the ambient lights, magical and electrical sources scattered around to keep the room dim but navigable
"Haaaah, ayon sha!"
That was another reason why Floyd liked the player's interactions with him.
Merfolk had many a dialect, with his main language being Atlantican. But his family, way on the other side of the ocean, spoke Multi-Islandic. It was a bouncy, bubbly type of language, one that Floyd personally liked to speak in when he could. Of course, Jade was more serious and rarely spoke it, leaving Floyd with no one to use his skills on, unless it was insulting them.
And yet, the Player, the almighty being that granted him and a few others their favor, SPOKE Multi-Islandic. Somehow, there was an otherworldly equivalent...
" Magandan gabe~ Guapo naman ka, Floyd. Good job!"
Floyd beamed as the sparkles pressed against his cheek. He could feel the familiar warmth fill his chest, radiating out down to his fingertips and toes…
"Haha! Maganda gabe, Player! Bakit giseng ka? Tulogin ka na, ok?" Floyd would laugh, teasing the being on the other side of the Glass. While most were in awe of the massive and otherworldly being, Floyd had found that this one was...casual. Very sweet and picked up on his speech patterns so quickly!
He wished that he could meet them face to face. Smush their cheeks like they did with him.
"Hah! Okay lang ako kyua, hinde ako pagod! Not yet, anyway. Working hard ka? Buisit ng aralan, nako…"
Floyd would nod. "Ehhhh. Tulogin ako sa klase."
"ANAK NG-! HOI! BASTOS KA, KUYA. Mag-aral nang mabuti, ah! Nako!!! Sige!!!"
Floyd would just laugh.
He knew this all was a game. Nothing mattered anymore and he was just an eel in an aquarium to this Player. But the fact that they cared so much… even if he was lazy a lot of the time, it made him actually want to study a little harder, knowing that he would get praised.
