Work Text:

You remember that day all too well when Wanda took you out to a cafe on 16th avenue to thank you for helping her during a mission. That moment when you knew her piercing green eyes and small but lovely smile controlled the pace of your heartbeat, that moment when you thought oh shit I'm fucked because you knew it would once again be like those unreciprocated crushes you've had in the past. Actually, you don't know if they're unreciprocated because you're just a coward like that you never confess. So at that moment you also realized, you'd be content just admiring her from afar, it's just a crush anyway, no other strings attached.

Months pass by and you slowly realize that it's not just a crush. The way you fail to function whenever she gives you a friendly smile the way she does to others, except you react so differently compared to them and you don't even know if she notices or not. The way the both of you have an unarranged agreement to always watch sitcoms every. damn. night. at her room and she would always lay her head on your shoulder until she falls asleep. The way you already memorized her smell or the perfumes, shampoo, and body washes she uses because of how much she clings to you. But yeah, just a crush right?

You also can't help but think that maybe she knows about the feelings you have for her because of how obvious you were and is basically already throwing yourself at her any chance you get. You thought, maybe she does know and she's not doing anything about it because she doesn't want to ruin your friendship. After all, she doesn't feel the same. You frowned at the thought.

Of course, there are also moments wherein your heart would hurt just seeing her laugh her ass off on Vision's jokes you don't even find funny.  Research says that women laugh extra at jokes from a man they have a crush on, may it be funny or not, that made your brows furrow. Does she like Vision?

You kept on convincing yourself that you have no right to feel jealous or hurt about her and Vision but you know you'd be lying to yourself if you say that it's alright because it's just a silly little crush.

It just happened to be that Natasha caught you in one of these scenarios while you were cooking dinner for the team and you couldn't help but keep on glancing toward Vision and Wanda's direction while they were watching Bewitched on the TV.

"You should just tell her, you know." You flinched as Natasha snuck behind you. She's been observing you lately, and it's not too long until she realized your feelings for a certain witch.

"Tell who what?" You asked acting dumb, looking back at the dish you're making, not sparing her a glance. She rolled her eyes at that and crossed her arms.

She sighed, "Wanda? You don't think I know?" She asked raising an eyebrow, leaning on the countertop, causing you to purse your lips.

You looked at her sheepishly, "Is it that noticeable?" You asked in a low voice.

Natasha rolled her eyes and laughed and stood away from the countertop and walked near you, “That every time I look at you I just catch you looking at her? Yes dumbass?“ She said in a low voice, eyes scolding you making you sigh.

You took the kitchen gloves off and washed your hands, “Well then don’t tell anyone.” You shrugged, trying not to make a fuss about it.

She stared at you, “That’s it?”

You wiped your hands and finally looked at her, raising an eyebrow, “What?”

“You’re not gonna deny it anymore or anything? You think you can trust me by not telling anyone?” She dared.

“Natasha I—  Alright what is this about?” You crossed your arms, furrowing your eyebrows. Unable to fathom why did she suddenly come after you and question you about what you felt about Wanda.

“Look I’m trying to help.” She shrugged, “Look at Vision right there, that look he’s giving her, that is not, I repeat not the look someone gives their friend platonically. That man has romantic intentions, are you sure you just wanna stand there like an idiot not even trying? At least try, Y/N.” She said, seriousness evident in her tone. You stared at her, thinking of something to say.

You pursed your lips, “Well I’m sure she already wants him back so it’s pointless.” You answered, still stubborn.

“I—  How can you even say that. Did she tell you?” She whined frustrated, crossing her arms for the fifteenth time.

“Nope.” You answered blandly.

“If they get together I swear I’ll be the first person to laugh at your face.” She said, trying to rile you up.

“And also the first person who would try to comfort me.” You said with a smug smile, “Besides if you really wanna help me, come taste my paprikash tell me if it’s bland or not.” You added, disregarding the entire conversation as you scooped a bit of sauce with the spoon and blew it a bit, facing her.

“You’re insufferable.” She said, rolling her eyes as she tried to hide a smile at your stubbornness before opening her mouth when you directed the spoon to her mouth.

“Why thank you.” You answered sarcastic, giggling slightly.

To your unawareness, you didn’t know Wanda was there on the couch looking at you and Natasha, jealousy filling up her gut. She muttered an apology to Vision, reasoning that she was not feeling well, getting up to stride towards her room before Vision even managed to reply.

–

All of you finished your dinner, Natasha washed the dishes as you spent a moment brushing your teeth then went straight back to the living room. You waited for a good 30 minutes on the couch to wait for Wanda until you finally realized she’s not coming to join you tonight. You frowned, looking so lost as the others finally went back to their rooms because of the day off.

You stood up ready to go back to your room. You closed the television as it welcomed the sudden silence that mocked your loneliness, with your slight movements not going unheard. You walked through the hallway of your rooms and turning to a corner you bumped into Natasha.

“Shit, Nat sorry I wasn’t paying attention are you alright?” You asked her looking at her eyes, searching for any sign of discomfort.

“Don’t worry about it. I just need to get these files to Clint.” She said as she suddenly looked past you to see the unoccupied living room. “No binge-watching with Wanda tonight?” She asked raising an eyebrow, finally looking at you.

A hand on your neck, “I don’t know, she didn’t come by tonight. Maybe she’s with Vision.” You sighed, shrugging in defeat. So this was it.

Natasha furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, “What are you talking about? Vision’s been sent on a sudden mission. This is why I’m supposed to bring these files to Clint.”

“So he’s not here?”

Natasha looked at you, in a ‘well what do you think genius?’ as she rolled her eyes, “Oh I don’t know Y/N maybe he’s in the bathroom shitting. Of course, he’s not here! Are you drunk?” She said sarcastically.

You rolled your eyes as you began to walk, “Really helpful, Nat.”

“You should check up on her you know! This is your chance!” Natasha shouted before you turned around a corner. You shook your head in amusement.

Deciding to listen to Natasha, you gathered the courage to knock on Wanda’s room. Nervousness fills you up as if the both of you aren’t best friends, but due to Wanda acting weirdly lately, you can’t help but feel antsy.

You knocked, no answer. You knocked again, silence. By the time you were about to knock for the third time, Wanda abruptly opened the door, revealing herself who looks like she was not in the mood.

She furrowed her eyebrows, her hand still on the doorknob, “What?”

You gulped, “I…uhh.” She tilted her head, “I… Well, I was wondering why you didn’t come today. Are you alright?”

“I don’t think I needed to come there every night Y/N. I have stuff I need to do too.” She stated. Your face fell, oh.

“I’m sorry I just thought… You look really ‘not okay’ right now. If there’s anything I can do to help please don’t hesitate to ask.” You managed to say.

“I don’t need your help right now. Besides, aren’t you with Natasha?” She said, brows still furrowed.

Now it was you who furrowed your eyebrows, “I— What, no Wanda. What is this about?” You asked, raising your hands in confusion.

“You seemed to have pretty much enjoyed her company too much when I wasn’t around.” She let go of the doorknob as she crossed her arms.

Oh.

Oh.

“Wanda what… Are you jealous?” You asked, stifling a smile that doesn’t go unseen. She grew more annoyed at this.

“Jealous? Why would I be?” She retorted, looking like a stubborn child.

You shook your head in amusement as you laughed, you finally walked to her and hugged her while she was still crossing her arms, “Natasha? We’re just friends you know you’re still my bestest friend, no one can replace you.” You emphasized.

She continued to frown, pulling away abruptly as she looked up at you, “Friends? Right we’re only gonna be friends. Of course, you think that.”

You grew even more confused as it hit you, “Wanda what are you talking about…” You asked for confirmation even though the woman in front of you is already fuming out of impatience.

She scoffed, “Really? Y/N? Are you really this dense?”

“Wanda I—

“No matter how many times I basically throw myself at you, you’re just gonna go like ‘oh Wanda you’re the best friend I’ve ever had’ , no matter how many times I give signs to your oblivious ass you are just gonna see me as a friend.” She hit your chest with her palms, fighting back a sob.

Oh fuck.

The sudden realization felt like whiplash, all this time you’ve been worrying about her not liking you back when she’s been going through the same scenario. Idiot.

You held her wrists that hit your chest, “Wanda you really don’t know?” You looked at her glistening eyes.

“Know what?” She cried.

“Wanda I’ve liked you all this time ever since we became friends. I even think… I’m in love with you.” Your hands let go of her wrists and held her cheeks.

She looked so beautiful, her face in your palms, she looked flushed with rosy cheeks and glistening eyes. Carved by Aphrodite you thought.

“You’re just saying that right now to make me feel okay.” She denied it, her voice trembling.

You shook your head with a smile as you looked into her eyes, wiping a tear with your thumb, “No Wanda, all this time I thought you don’t like me back and… I thought you’re gonna be with Vision.” You confessed.

She furrowed her eyebrows, her hands pulling yours away as she looked at you in disbelief, “Vision? We’re just friends. Nothing more.”

You scoffed in amusement, “Well that’s definitely some news.” You said, intertwining her fingers into yours.

“Wait. We’re you jealous of Vision?” She said, stifling a smile. Her turn now on being all cocky.

You crossed your arms, eyes rolling, “If that isn’t obvious.” You confessed.

She looked up at you, her hands came up to your face, “You’re the only one I like.”

You stared back into her green eyes, feeling like you were being hypnotized. If she was Medusa there would probably be a thousand stone statues of you now.

“I could kiss you right now.” You said, your hands finding their way into her waist.

“Then do it.” She whispered, her face so incredibly close to yours, you could hear her heartbeat.

You gulped, leaning closer as your lips finally connected. You closed your eyes as your senses heightened, savoring the moment you’ve been waiting for so long.

You tilted your head, deepening the kiss. She put her arms around your neck with your hands still on her waist, your lips dancing in sync. You exhaled through your nose, rubbing the small of her back as her fingers played with the baby hair above the back of your neck.

Her lips are softer than anything you’ve ever felt before, you felt like floating, weightless in a pool, you were on cloud nine.

You felt lightheaded when she licked your bottom lip as she sighed, the thin layers of her nightgown being the only division between the both of you. One hand left her waist as you held her neck, parting your lips as you slipped your tongue into hers, feeling the warm sensation of her mouth.

She made a noise of pleasure as you were about to deepen the kiss even more. Suddenly you heard footsteps coming near rapidly.

Natasha stood there in disbelief, “I leave you for 10 minutes and you’re suddenly there exchanging salivas with the little witch. What happened to our shy and awkward Y/N huh?” She interrupted, crossing her arms, amusement all over her face. She scoffed with a laugh.

You pulled away from Wanda, looking at Natasha in a scolding manner, “Natasha! What are you doing here?!” You asked, frustrated that she interrupted the moment.

She raised an eyebrow, “Oh I didn’t know I can’t walk through the hallways to get to my room now? What are you two doing making out here?” She retorted.

Wanda laughed looking at you, a hand on your cheek, “Come on детка let’s just go to my room.” Her hand going down to hold yours, “Bye Nat.” She waved. Natasha didn’t say anything, only waving back with a smile.

The door closed, “You’re too hot-headed.” She giggled.

Your eyebrows furrowed, “Well I…”

“We can just continue here you know.” She winked, arms going around your shoulders.

You blinked, unable to process that this is actually happening, “Can we watch sitcoms first?” You asked, affection all over your tone as you stared at her.

Wanda laughed, “Of course, come on.” She held your hand, directing you to her bed.

You felt content.
