Gotham bleeds.

Summary:

Gotham City.

Work Text:

Gotham bleeds.

In her city, there's a wall between rich and poor:

The youthful with their wine glasses protected by gardens of gold.

The elderly in her darkest parts, hiding from her and their clothes torn.

They pray to her but she broke a long time ago.

Gotham bleeds.

Gotham bleeds.

She tries her best to cover his eyes.

He pries her hands away even though he knows he needs protection.

She's tired and so she closes her eyes.

Wounds reopen,

her son stitches them shut.

He is not kind,

but he's attached to her, and she fears for his safety.

Gotham bleeds.

Gotham bleeds.

Rainbow colors accompany black.

Out of fear, she takes away the shine, and the lights dim down.

Despite the pain, he stands up and leaves.

He is safe there, she thinks.

But he sees it differently,

he sees a bleeker version of the place he used to know

Gotham bleeds.

Gotham bleeds.

Her children take what they want

but in evil there is good.

Her descendants work hard and swap her blood with theirs;

They bleed because there is no end to her.

Gotham bleeds and so do her allies. Her children.
