Work Text:

Tommy watches Ichor’s grin grow as he falls, the air rushing past his ears. He can see Phil standing next to Ichor, talking to him, and Ichor nodding. Jubilee joins them next, waving at him

Prick

He realizes that he needs to catch himself, that the ground is getting too close for comfort. He reaches his hands out, ready to save himself from hitting the concrete. The motion pushes him slightly backward, the rail of a fire escape colliding with the back of his head.

His vision blurs significantly, the three villains above him just blurs of color. His arms hang limp above him as he continues to fall. Tommy feels the moment his body hits the ground.

He can feel the moment his arm snaps, the burning pain flaring up his arm. It associates itself with the pain of his rib-cracking, Tommy gasping as the air leaves his lungs. And what’s a good fall without some good head trauma?

Luckily for Tommy however, his head hits a, definitely not soft but not hard, garbage bag. He can feel a warm sensation running down his body. He’s not quite aware but he isn’t passed out so he counts that as a win. He blinks at the three figures still standing there, just looking at him.

He wants to insult them, yell at them even but all that comes out is a pathetic whimper. He watches all three of them disappear, leaving him. He finally props himself up on his good arm and looks down to find where the blood is and he sees it, a piece of wood sticking out of his left leg.

He doesn’t panic, no he doesn’t have time for that

or the strength

His adrenaline is pumping, blocking out the pain

For now

He knows that when it crashes, it’s gonna hurt like a bitch. But that's a problem for future Tommy, present Tommy has a tickle in his throat and would like to cough. It’s hard to think when your throat feels like sandpaper.

He does, blood spilling onto the floor. He wipes my mouth and rubs the blood that stains his fingers in between them. A sudden buzzing fills his head, he winces laying back down and taping the earpiece,

“Tommy, where are you? Tubbo’s getting worried.” Tommy takes a look around, “I’m in an alley, Boo.” “An alley? Are you hurt?” He doesn’t answer, black dots pricking his vision, “If you would classify bleeding out as being hurt then yea, I am.”

He chuckles, Ranboo not laughing with him, “Ok then, tough crowd. Uh, call Sam, I’m by him I think.” The typing of keys jolts him back, he winces.

“How bad are you hurt Tommy?” It’s Tubbo now, “Like on a scale of 1-10, I’d give myself an eight.” “Can-can you describe them?” He doesn’t answer for a minute, giving himself a mental check-up.

“So I think I have a concussion, a broken arm, cracked ribs and there is a nice piece of wood in my leg. That's about it I think.” Tubbo exhales, “How ba-” “Oh! And I’m cold, which is weird cause it’s like 82 degrees but I’m shivering.” “Ok, um How bad are you bleeding from the wood?” Tommy thinks about that too, “Enough to make me woozy.”

He can hear movement in the background then a voice, probably Ranboo’s talking to Tubbo. He listens to them when the black dots are back, he shuts his eyes as Tubbo’s voice comes through, “Hey Tommy, Sam and Puffy are almost there. We’re leaving too ok? You’re gonna be o-” Tubbo’s voice is cut off, Tommy opens his eyes confused.

Jubilee stands above him, Tommy opening his mouth to yell for Tubbo, Jubilee slapping a hand over his mouth. Tommy takes his one good arm and leg to try and free himself but it’s in vain. He’s too tired and injured,

And fucking cold

Why is he so damn cold

“Now I bet you’re wondering what I’m doing here,” Tommy doesn’t move, “Well, we just wanted to make sure you weren’t able to follow us.”

“O-ok, you saw me now go away, people are coming,” the words leave his mouth and he mentally kicks himself at Jubilee’s face lighting up.

“You mean you’re people? Oooo, this is good. Let me call my people and you can introduce us to them.” Jubilee pulls a phone out, before stopping and crouching next to him, “Let me do this first,” he grabs the piece of wood and yanks, Tommy finally finding the voice to scream, his back arching as pain he can only describe as fire spreads through his whole body.

Blood begins to flow from his leg more freely, he grits his teeth as tears prick in his eyes. He’s in agony.

Jubilee just laughs while pushing a few buttons before his feet are swiped from under him. He’s turned over and his hands are tied behind him. “Hey!” Let me-

A gag is placed in his mouth cutting the command short. Tommy watches Sam and Tubbo drag him deeper into the alley, fastening ties around his ankles too. Tubbo gives him a kick before Sam pulls him away.

Ranboo and Tubbo kneel by him, Ranboo at his head and beside him, they gently run their fingers through his hair and Tubbo takes his hand. Puffy looks over the rest of him, carefully prodding and stopping whenever he winces too hard.

She touches a spot particularly close to the literal hole in his leg, he tenses, sending shocks through his body and ultimately into Puffy, Tubbo and Ranboo.

Tubbo jolts back shaking his hand, Ranboo’s hair is sticking up and Puffys hand is glowing, healing her still smoking hand.

His head lolls to the side, his eyes closing, “Hey, no, Tommy we need you to stay awake just a bit longer ok? Puffy is going . . .” Ranboo’s voice fades out, the rest of Tommy’s adrenaline crashing and he promptly blacks out.

–––––––––––––

Tubbo is currently freaking out, Tommy just passed out and there's a literal hole in his leg. Puffy has her hands over it and it’s glowing but it’ll only do so much. Puffy pulls back, sweat lining her brow as Sam helps her up, “That’s all I can do for now. We need to move him somewhere cleaner and safer.”

“What do we do about him ?” They all turn to Jubilee who is glaring daggers at them, still tied up. There is a hint of smugness in his gaze and it freaks Ranboo out a bit. “We need to go, I don’t like the look he’s giving us.”

Tubbo nods, “Sam, can you take Tommy? We’re gonna go to our place.” Sam nods, bending down and gently picking Tommy up who tenses before relaxing again. They start half walk, half run to Benchtrio’s apartment.

Sam prays to whoever is listening that Tommy doesn’t shock him. They all choose to ignore the sounds behind them, just deciding to pick up the pace.

They get there safely and sit Tommy on the couch, Ranboo coming with a bulky first aid kit. “You guys are really prepared.” Tubbo shrugs, “It comes with having a vigilante and hero in the house.” Ranboo nods, shutting the blinds, “Will he be ok?”

Puffy nods, “The biggest concern was his leg and I did what I could with it. It's definitely gonna scar.” Tubbo chuckles, “Tommy’s gonna love that.” Sam chuckles, “What about his arm?”

Tubbo takes it and snaps it back, Puffy exclaiming, “Tubbo! You can’t just do that.” “Look, Tommy has come home with so many broken bones, it’s second nature at this point, give me the stuff to sling it.”

Sam hands him the bandages and Tubbo wraps it, Ranboo slipping an ice pack under the last wrap. They step back, “What about his ribs?” Puffy shakes her head, “Ice, pain meds, and time.” Tommy stirs, Tubbo grabbing onto Ranboo’s wrist.

Tommy’s eyes flutter open, looking around confused, “Hey Tom, here sit up a bit, we need to give you meds.” With the help of Sam, Tommy takes some pain meds and passes out again. “Is it a good idea to let him rest with a concussion?”

“We’re not sure if he even has a concussion. We'll check when he’s awake for more than two minutes.” “I’m gonna move him to his bed, You two are staying here tonight.”

“No, Ranboo we don’t want to intrude on you guys.” Tubbo shakes his head, “Jubilee has seen you guys, it’s too dangerous to go back out this soon. One of you can take my room and the other can take Boo’s room.” Puffy looks at Sam, confused, “Why aren’t you sleeping in them.”

“We’re gonna stay with Tommy, in case he wakes up and is confused. We’ll take turns staying up.” “Tubbo, you don’t need to. Sam and I will stay up with him.”

Tubbo shakes his head, following Ranboo who now has Tommy in their arms. They lay him down before climbing into bed too, sitting against the headboard and waits for Tubbo to join them. He does, sitting on the end of the bed.

Sam and Puffy watch them cover Tommy before wrapping a blanket around themselves. “Go, we’ll be fine. We’ll get you if something happens.” Promise?” Ranboo nods, “Promise.” She shuts the door, letting the two quietly talk about who'll take the first watch.

She sighs, “They shouldn’t have to do that.” Sam shrugs, “You know how stubborn they are, all of them. I’m surprised Tommy said to call me at all.” Puffy smiles, “It’s no secret why, he trusts you.” Sam nods, “So who’s going in which room?”

Puffy shrugs, “I don’t care.” They both go their separate ways and despite having doubts about leaving the two teens to stay up, they fall asleep.

Ranboo turns to Tubbo who had fallen asleep and after carefully laying him down, they carefully move from the bed and into the living room. They tidy up, ignoring the small voice saying that it could have waited till morning. They cleaned when they were stressed, ok?

Ranboo shudders, turning and looking at the empty room and peered into the kitchen.

It’s nothing

You know that

You’re being paranoid

Ranboo nods, finishing up the cleaning and starting the very short walk to Tommy’s room. A breeze catches their attention, turning to the windows a curtain is blowing.

They walk to it, brushing it off as Sam or Puffy needing some fresh air. They open the curtain, red eyes meeting theirs. They take a step back, opening their mouth to yell. For Sam, for Puffy, for anybody.

The eyes are quicker, diving halfway in the window and wrapping an arm around their waist trapping their arms to their sides. They rip off the white and black split mask they were wearing and put his free hand over their mouth.

They drag Ranboo out the window, kicking the whole way. Once their outside, their back is pressed to a chest that Ranboo can assume is Ichor’s, the red eyes being a dead giveaway.

Jubilee is standing on the small fire escape landing with them, glancing up they can see Kali. Nobody looks happy, they all look fucking pissed. Ranboo glances inside, worried for their sleeping friends. “Oh, don’t worry. We’re just here to send a message, we have no intention of going inside.”

Bullshit

If Ranboo hadn’t come to the window, nothing would have stopped them from going inside. They glare at Jubilee who nods at Ichor, in return the hands holding them remove themselves. They take a step towards the window, a hand grabbing their wrist and pulling them back.

They turn to see Ichor shake his head, “Wouldn’t try that if I were you kid .” Ranboo scowls ripping their wrist away. “We really are telling the truth, mate. We are just here to send a message.” “Well excuse me for now exactly believing that after what this bitch did.” Jubilee takes a step towards them reaching a hand out to grab them, a hum from above stopping him.

He straightens himself, glancing behind Ranboo. They turn but a hand grabs their chin, pulling their head back around, “You listen to me, you little pest . We could have just broken in and killed you and your little ‘hero’ friends,” Ranboo takes Jubilees wrist and pushes his arm away, “but we didn’t and for that you should be grateful.”

Ranboo scoffs, Ichor coming up behind them and placing two hands on their shoulders, “You’re lucky that he’s even alive at all. Jubilee could have killed him in that alley tonight.” They shudder thinking back to how bad Tommy looked.

Ichor walks next to Jubilee and climbs to join Kali, leaving the two alone. Ranboo’s hands start shaking, the air becoming tense leaving a familiar feeling of fear in the air. He glances at Ichor, eyes glowing and grin widening.

Ranboo can’t even return his gaze with Jubilee before a fist finds their way to their face, they stumble back. Feeling their nose, their fingers come back slightly red. “That was for tying me up and leaving me.”

Ranboo chuckles, taking one last look at Jubilee before diving for the open window, Jubilee grabbing the back of their jacket, moving to grab their arms, Ranboo unzipping their jacket and falling the rest of the way in the window. They don’t pay attention to the loud sound they make, no doubt waking everyone else in the apartment. They turn and quickly lock the window, making eye contact with Jubilee.

They stare at each other for a minute before Ichor says something, muffled by the window. Ranboo watches the other two flee, Jubilee staying a second longer to stare at Ranboo. The look they’re getting unsettles them but they stand strong.

They hear doors open behind them and they turn, seeing Sam, Puffy and Tubbo come out of their respective rooms. They turn back, Jubilee gone as if he was never there. “Boo! What happened?”

Tubbo comes into their view, “Your bleeding,” he takes their hands, “and you’re shaking, what happened?!” “They were here.” Tubbo pales a bit, looking back at Puffy and Sam.

“Did they hurt you? Where’s your mask?” They shake their head, still staring out the window. They notice the discarded mask on the floor below it, picking it up they notice a small tear.

Tubbo’s voice fades out, their eyes stuck on the window. Puffy comes over and shuts the curtain then kneels in front of Ranboo. There’s a small gap in between them and from that small gap, Ranboo watches Jubilee’s face peer in.

He smirks at them before disappearing, his threat ringing through their head

We could have just broken in and killed you and your little ‘hero’ friends.

As they sit there, surrounded by their worried friends they can’t help but think about it, how easily they had accessed their home. They shudder, wrapping their arms around their middle.

As Tubbo comforts them, Sam and Puffy bring blankets out and sit them down next to Tubbo. They retreat back to the other bedrooms, leaving Tubbo to convince Ranboo to go to sleep.

“What if they come back?” Tubbo shrugs, “I don’t know Boo. I just know that there's no point in worrying about it. Sleep.” They try too, even with Tubbo right next to them, they feel uneasy.

Sleep doesn’t come easy to them tonight.
