“Ok Ollie, so here’s the deal. It’s Mummy and Daddy’s two year anniversary. I’ve cleaned the house, there’s a scrummy dinner in the oven. I got her chocolate frogs, cause that’s our tradition.” Neville said, Ginny and Hermione had taken Pansy out for a spa day. They promised not to bring her home until 6pm.
“Bah!” Ollie exclaimed, he squirmed as Neville dressed him into a fresh onesie that was decorated with frogs. He’d been fed, bathed and now changed. Now, Neville was getting him ready just in time for Pansy to come home, for the rest of the bedtime routine.
“Exactly, traditions are very important. Anyway, she’s gonna be home soon. So, here’s what I need from you.” Neville said as he bathed his 5 month old son, hoping it would calm him down. He lifted him off the change table and held Ollie up so they were face to face.
“First, be adorable, which isn’t hard for you. But to go to bed on time and sleep.” Neville said,
“Ooooh.” Ollie cooed, he tried to reach for Neville’s nose. Clearly not paying attention to a word his father was saying.
“I mean really sleep. I know, it’s not easy for you.” Neville said, he moved Ollie to his shoulder and started to rub Ollie’s back in a soothing manner. All in the vain hope of getting him to relax enough to sleep.
“But you see, Mummy and Daddy need some ‘adult’ time to play games and have some fun together. So, do you think you can sleep for like 4 hours straight?” Neville asked, Ollie flopped his head on his shoulder and sighed. His tiny hands grappled his shirt.
“I know you can do it, you’re a power napper. I just need you to be a power sleeper.” Neville said, he heard the familiar pop of Pansy’s return. He turned and smiled as Pansy came into Ollie’s room. “Have a good day?” he asked.
“It was great.” Pansy said, she looked relaxed and very pampered as she wore a serene smile. She closed the distance between them and gave him a kiss ‘hello’ before kissing the back of Ollie’s head.
“You look beautiful, new dress?” he asked.
“We did a little shopping after the spa. How was your day?” she asked, she looked between him and Ollie.
“Great, we cooked, we cleaned and then we got dressed up.” Neville told her, Ollie was slowly becoming dead weight on his shoulder as he was falling asleep.
“I noticed.”
“Then we had a good talk about Ollie and his sleep schedule.” Neville added.
“Oh you did?” Pansy asked in amusement.
“Hmm, I think he really took on board what I said and will do his best to sleep long enough tonight for us to have some adult time together.” Neville said, he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. Pansy grinned.
“I guess we’ll see about that.” She mused.
