Work Text:

Knowing how to do eyeliner was going to be your downfall. You could feel it. Two weeks until spring break and with Battle of the Bands three days before, somehow, someway it was your job to help with Corroded Coffin's makeup.

It's not that Eddie, Jeff, that One Guy you couldn't remember the name of, and Gareth couldn't do it themselves per say, but you remember how Eddie had laughed while asking you for help. Gareth standing behind him looking disinterested while picking at his thumbs. Eddie had looked so amused with himself like he knew something you didn't. Absolutely you agreed.

You even found yourself packing extra stuff in your bag. Now you're here, in someone's garage (You assume it might be Gareth's, by the way he keeps glancing to the door to go inside.)

You're glad for the grey couch inside, you greet everyone and take a seat choosing to wait until after practice to show everyone some of the accessories and makeup you brought in your bag. It smells of cigarettes and sweat, and you could feel your previous suspicions from earlier melt away.

After practice was over everyone gathers around in one way or another while you lay out all the chains, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and makeup you had.

"I wanted to make sure your guy's accessories coordinated, and stuck to a sort of theme," you shift to your left grabbing your bag to find something in the side pocket. "I figured I should bring stuff to match the 'coffin' part of Corroded Coffin."

Pulling out a long chain with a silver coffin dangling from it you set it down with the other graveyard related jewelry and gesture out to it encouraging them to pick out different stuff.

"You know," Eddie started, "I only asked that you bring some eyeliner... I wonder what possessed you to be so kind," he mused, raising an eyebrow at you. Jeff nodded along with him.

"I can take it back if you want?" You ask.

"No! No it's fine really, I'm sort of jealous of this collection really," Eddie started to tease, jumping up from his spot and packing some of the stuff you brought. You look over at Gareth who was sitting on the other end of the couch, watching Eddie run around the garage gathering his stuff. He looked calm, but he kept on wiping his hands on his jeans. Maybe he was nervous to play battle of the Bands?

"I thought you guys wanted help with your makeup?"

Then something strange happend. Eddie stopped what he was doing and turned to look at you, suddenly you already knew what he was about to say. How could you forget? You've known these guys besides Jeff's friend since middle school. You glanced at Gareth who was picking his thumbs again.

"Weeeelll," Eddie all but sang, "Well you see, I've been doing my eyeliner since middle school, Jeff and the Other Guy too, and we need to get back to my trailer for some reason that I can't explain to you now." He clapped his hands together rubbing them with an evil look in his eye. "I only asked cause Gareth is shit at it," he finished.

You just stared at him. Eddie stared back.

Jeff got up, already packed, probably during yours and Eddie's impromptu staring contest. Someone cleared their throat and you looked away shaking your head.

"Guy's," it was Jeff's friend, "my name is-"

"Okay!" Eddie interrupted, "Sorry to leave so suddenly but we really have got to go, have fun love birds!" Just like that, all three of them had got into his van and left. You could only stare after them in horror. He knew. The plotting bastard.

"Um," you look over at Gareth, curious about what he's going to say. He's been relatively silent all of practice which is unlike him. "I'm sorry, you don't have to help me if you don't want too."

Well that's disappointing.

"What? No. It's okay," you stand up, grabbing some eyeliner and walk up to his side of the couch. "I think it'll be fun," you finished smiling at him. He nodded back giving you a small smile.

You sat down on your knees on the couch next to him while gesturing for him to turn your way. While mumbling some apologies about having to be in his personal space, you reach out with your left hand and cup his cheek, bringing him even closer. Taking a deep breath you try to ignore the sound of your heart pounding in your ears and tell him to look up.

You apply the eyeliner to is water line on both eyes, well stretching the skin slightly outwards so that way you can drag it out towards the sides and smudge it, giving him under smokey eyes. The tension was so thick, and it seemed to grow even thicker by the second, suffocating you both.

You still have your hands cupping his face and he's looking at you, you notice that his ears are starting to turn red. You wonder if you can get away with putting some lip gloss on him. He seems to notice you glancing at his lips because he leans in, getting so impossibly close, barely leaving any room between the two of you, and it's giving you butterflies.

"Would it be okay if.." He trails off, licking his lips he tries again. "Can I kiss you?" He whispers.

Maybe knowing how to do eyeliner wasn't going to be your downfall after all.
