Summary
The Watcher is too annoyed that a lost child has been wandering about the City for the last five days. No sign of worried parents; no sign that the child has anyplace to rest. The Watcher shouldn't have to do this, but Lurien has more than enough heart to reach out and call the lost home.
At first, only victory was the delight of the vessel, as it should when it pulled itself up instead of slipping off the ledge. Then, the vessel found delight in learning of all the wonders of City with Falling Water. But now…now victory is hollow as the vessel is trapped again. All that is learned only gives name to the pain within. With silent breath, the child calls out. "Someone…please…undo all the pain…"
OR: I had enough of the Pale King's nonsense and decided to have Lurien reach out and undo the entire Birthplace scene. Little Knight finally gets some happiness.
