Notes:

I wanted to do something special for Father's Day, and this is what I came up with :3

Work Text:

Freddy walked into his room after a long day of preforming and meet and greets.

He sighed out of exhaustion and closed his door and curtains before making his way to Gregory's room (which is behind his and where his charging station is) to charge after the long day.

In the dimly lit room he was met with the sight of Gregory sprawled out across the child's bed, and with his blankets at his feet.

The bear huffed a small laugh of amusement and walked over to the boy's bed to cover him back up.

As he was pulling the cover of blankets over the child, Gregory stirred ever-so-slightly and turned to face him in his sleep, hugging a Freddy plushie close to his chest, and smiling in his slumber.

Freddy couldn't help but smile warmly with affection as he watched the boy sleep peacefully. He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss, to the best of an animatronic's ability, to the boy's forehead and brushed a stray hair out of his face.

He sighed softly and left Gregory's bed, walking to his charging station, when he spotted a note attached to the door of the charging pod with his name written on it.

"Hm? What's this?" He muttered softly, so he didn't wake up Gregory.

He gently took the note and opened it.

And what he found hit him straight where his heart would be if he had one.

'Dear Freddy,'
'I didn't know what to give you on this special day, so Sunny helped me make this for you. I wanted to thank you for all you've done for me, and how you protected me when I needed it, and how you let me stay here. I don't know how to tell you how much it means to me that you care so much about me, but I wanted to let you know that I see you as more than just a friend. Heh, I guess what I'm trying to say is, I see you as my father figure. Thank you, Dad.'

'Happy Father's Day...'

'Love, Gregory'

At the opposite side of the writing there was a cutely drawn picture of Freddy and Gregory holding hands with big smiles on their faces, and with a heart between them.

In the top corner above the drawing was a small message of 'I helped Gregory draw the picture! :D -Sun'

Freddy could've sworn he felt his systems melt with how sweet the letter was.

And although animatronics can't really cry, that didn't stop his eyes from sparking.

The bear turned around to look at the his boy in the bed. He managed to catch Gregory's eye peeking at him, before closing quickly when he made eye contact.

Freddy chuckled softly and made his way back over to the bed, kneeling beside it.

"Did you make this?" He asked in a hushed tone, holding the letter up.

Gregory, in defeat, opened his eyes and fiddled with the ear of his Freddy plushie. "Yeah... are you mad...?" He hummed and looked at Freddy with puppy eyes.

"Mad? Oh no, Superstar, I'm quite happy." Freddy smiled, leaning his elbows on the edge of the bed.

"You- you are?" The boy looked at him in confusion. "Why?"

"Because, I would be honored to be called your dad... and I would be proud to call you my son." Freddy answered earnestly.

Gregory reached out and grabbed Freddy's fingers, fidgeting with them, while Freddy watched with a certain fondness that could only be described as how a father watches his kids.

Soon after, Gregory spoke up, his voice small. "But... why?"

Freddy was slightly confused by the question, but answered anyway. "Because I've seen how brave and amazing you are, Gregory. I simply don't understand why your parents did what they did, but I promise I will never do that to you." He gently booped his boy's nose, getting a smile in return.

"Thanks... Dad." Gregory giggled, slightly embarrassed about calling the bear 'dad' but it felt right somehow.

Freddy smiled from ear to ear. "Of course, my little Superstar."

"So... does this mean I can call you dad more often?" Gregory asked shyly.

Freddy nodded. "You can always call me that, son... unless you are not comfortable, of course."

"Okay... I may not in front of the others just yet, but I will as often as possible." Gregory smiled slightly.

"I would love that." Freddy returned the smile.

Before the bear knew what was happening, Gregory launched himself into his arms and clung onto him tightly.

Freddy was quiet with surprise for a moment, but it left as soon as it came as he gingerly wrapped his arms around his son.

"Happy Father's Day, Dad." Gregory snuggled impossibly further into his embrace.

Freddy smiled and curled around his boy, not intending on letting him go any time soon. "Thank you, my little cub."

Happy Father's Day to any dads reading this! :D

Notes:

I just wanted a quiet moment between them :)
