Morgan had not expected Alex to settle into being pocket sized this well. In fact, the first day or so they wouldn’t stop cracking Stewart Little puns.
That might have had more to do with all the small gadgets Morgan had whipped up to help their partner adjust easier.
Right now Alex was curled up in the pocket of Morgan’s shirt as they worked on the ray itself. Part of why it was going to take so long was because Morgan was only allowing themself to work on the ray gun while Alex was either asleep or resting.
It’s a shrink ray, not a bitch ray, Alex had said. I’m just as strong as I was before, I’m just small now.
Morgan knew that on an intellectual level, but a bigger part of them still worried that they would squeeze Alex too hard or step on them by mistake.
So instead they were making as many Alex sized things as they could.
Sure, Alex could just snap and manifest the things they needed if they wanted to, but Alex knew that this— making gadgets, being an engineer— was how Morgan showed they cared. So they said nothing.
Morgan worked well into the night. They wanted to get Alex back to normal as soon as possible.
