Set one month after the events of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Wayne Szalinski has taken his son, Nick, to science camp, leaving Diane and her daughter, Amy, alone in the house for a few days. Diane and Amy wonder how they're going to pass the time, especially since Wayne asked to two to stay home and look after all his inventions (especially the shrink ray). Finally, Amy suggests a wild and crazy idea... she suggests shrinking with Dad's shrink ray again, and this time have Diane shrink with her so they can explore the small world together and not have to worry about being in danger this time. Diane is really not sure, but Amy insists she's been watching Nick and Dad fine tune the machine, including setting a timer that will allow them to automatically return them to normal size. Diane finally agrees to play along against her better judgment. To Amy's own surprise, she manages to program the shrink ray and it fires on herself and Diane, which shrinks them except for their clothes (it's always something going wrong, right?). After making some new clothes out of nearby blankets, the two walk around their now gigantic house, not realizing a rat is on the loose looking for a snack...

About a week after parting ways with Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie to continue her journey solo, Serena is spending the day on the beaches of Kalos Route 8, relaxing with her Pokémon. While pretending to be a flying Pokémon and spreading her arms out like wings, she bumps into Dawn, who has also chosen Kalos Route 8 to take a vacation at based on stories she's heard of its beauty. The two quickly become friends, especially after they share stories of the time they spent with Ash, including hearing stories of times when he (and other friends of his) were shrunk. Almost like the fates were listening, they eventually come across a Poké Ball in the sand that's shooting its return laser wildly and shrinking random objects, such as wild water Pokémon. They get control of the ball, but Serena actually is curious what it would be like to be small. And so after a bit of convincing, Serena and Dawn shrink themselves to the size of a Joltik with the ball even though their swimsuits fail to shrink with them. After making new clothing out of each other's swimsuits, they play around on the beach along with their normal-sized Pokémon like they're part of a playground attraction. That is until they see Meowth going solo and causing trouble...
