Welcome to the Shitshow

Summary:

Evan Buckley’s real name was Evan Gallagher.

He knew he should feel guilty for lying to his co-workers. But he knew that if they were to find out, it would change the way they all saw him, and he couldn’t afford to lose this job. Everything was going well, until his two worlds began to collided.

Welcome to the Shitshow

Notes:

I first thought of this story because I always thought that Buck and Ian were so alike the this story snowballed from there.

I haven't seen all of Shameless, nor have I watched it in ages, so the timeline is pretty messed up. we're focussing more in the 118 and the timeline from 911.

Enjoy :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Introduction

Notes:

A brief introduction into this story, this is a very short chapter!

Chapter Text

Evan Buckley had only been at the 118 fire station for a few weeks when he decided it wasn’t worth ever telling his new team the truth. So far, it had been simple enough to keep his home life and his work like separated and he could only pray that it would stay like that until he figures out how to tell them.

He justified it to himself by saying that it was only for now, the truth would come out eventually. But he wasn’t ready to admit that he would probably never be ready for the day that it did.

The truth was.

His real name was Evan Gallagher.

He lives in a shithole of a house with his twin sister Fiona and what was definitely way too many children, most of them his younger siblings.

He adopted the name Buckley from one of the former foster families he had been shipped off to during his childhood, when they had all been separated and sent away to be forgotten about. He honestly couldn’t even remember which time it had been, that kind of thing happened so often back then.

The Buckley’s were just as shit as any of the other Foster Families he had been sent to, trying to heal their own trauma and only managing to project it onto Evan in the process. Despite the fact they were awful, they daughter Maddie, was one of the only people Evan can remember, other than his own siblings, who ever showed him kindness and they were memories he clung to as he got older.

So far in their very impressive family history, he was the first and only sibling to make it out of the neighbourhood and had celebrated by ditching the Gallagher name all together the first chance he got. The absolute last thing he needed was for someone to recognise his name from Frank or Monica and make a connection between them somehow. He would never work as a first responder again, he’s sure of it.

Truthfully, he hadn’t gone further than a few streets away from his shitty neighbourhood, but his stable job and income was more than anyone in his family had ever achieved before.

So far, everything was going to plan. Until his two worlds began to collide.

Welcome to the shitshow.
