The baby dilemma

Summary:

Porsche sat on the stone cold stairs, a cigarette lit in his hand. His head was filled with thoughts of his future, their future. Would Kinn even… would he want to be a part of this?

Work Text:

Porsche is Kinn’s bodyguard, they’re… not in love, but what they have is far beyond a casual hookup. Or at least that’s what Porsche hopes, the thought of this thing between them being meaningless makes his chest hurt, so he doesn’t dwell on it. He chooses to focus on the positives.

He’s currently in a meeting, standing guard, but his mind is somewhere else. The image of two little lines is etched in his memory. He thinks back to the morning, and the way his eyes watered as he waited for the results, alone and scared. He’s been feeling nauseous for quite some time, especially in the mornings, but recently it evolved and he was actually vomiting almost every day. The thought of pregnancy wouldn’t have even crossed his mind if it wasn’t for a pregnant private chef employed at the house. Yesterday evening Porsche went to the kitchen, craving food after feeling sick for the whole day and as soon as he saw his round belly it all started to make sense. He’s been feeling a little off all week, and he brushed it off thinking maybe he didn’t get enough sleep. The realisation that there was a slight chance he might be pregnant rendered him unable to sleep, and he sneaked out to the closest pharmacy to buy a test. He was too scared to take it and finally mustered up the courage as the sun began rising.

The feeling of a warm breath on his neck brings him back to reality. Reflexively, he turns around and aims his hand at the intruder's neck. Except it’s no intruder at all. Kinn is standing in front of him, a glint in his eyes, but his expression isn’t pleased.

“Do tell. Where have your thoughts taken you?” Kinn’s tone is cold, but Porsche sees the concern in his eyes. He’s never lost focus while on duty.

“I’m sorry sir” He has to keep up appearances. When they’re in their own company he can call him whatever he wants, but here, in front of others, he’s only a bodyguard. “I’ll make sure it doesn't happen again” He doesn’t answer the question knowing Kinn didn’t really expect it, not in front of watchful eyes.

“Come” Kinn says after a while and Porsche follows him to his room. It happens often, them going somewhere together, the others stopped paying attention a long time ago.

The moment the doors close behind them Kinn turns to him and for a moment it looks like he wants to come closer, needs to touch Porsche, but the feeling is gone almost immediately.

He doesn’t want to show he’s concerned, cannot bring himself to admit that Porsche is special, he can’t be special.

“Now, would you tell me why you weren’t paying attention at the meeting?” Kinn’s stare is intense, he expects an explanation, something that Porsche can’t give him, at least not yet. Porsche sighs and closes his eyes, he really doesn’t want to deal with this right now.

“I have no idea, honestly Kinn, I don’t know what happened” He hopes Kinn doesn’t pry, doesn’t try to get more information out of him. He’s been feeling nauseous for some time and the added stress makes him feel even worse. But Kinn wouldn't be himself if he just let it go.

“I know you. You never get distracted, not in front of a potential threat. So tell me what's wrong while I’m still being nice” Porsche doesn’t understand why this is so important to Kinn. Yes, he stopped paying attention to the meeting, but the client wasn’t much of a threat and there were plenty more bodyguards in the room. Kinn wasn’t in danger, so why was he so hell-bent on getting an explanation?

“Can’t you understand I simply don’t want to talk about it?” Porsche’s chest is now moving rapidly, emotions overflowing. He needs Kinn to let go of this matter, he trusts their relationship is enough to make him give up, to not cross Porsche’s line.

“No, I can’t. You seem to be forgetting your place. I’m your boss, Porsche, and you will treat me like one.” Kinn is frustrated, he doesn’t want to admit Porsche is important to him, doesn’t want his voice to betray him, so he opts for the easiest way out, anger. Porsche’s behaviour is baffling, he thought the answer would be something simple, maybe Porsche was just tired, they would flirt like always when they’re left alone and maybe even make out. But Porsche refused to answer and Kinn, always in need of control, only got more and more agitated. Tears gather in Porsche’s eyes, but Kinn doesn’t notice the sudden change in his demeanour. Kinn’s tone is cold and it’s clear he’s serious.

“Well? I’m expecting an explanation.” Kinn is stubborn and the more Porsche avoids answering the more he’ll push. But Porsche is exhausted, and cannot, or maybe doesn’t want to, come up with an excuse. So they stand and stare into each other's eyes. It’s not a competition, but Porsche feels like if he turns his gaze away he will somehow lose. So he stares harder, not willing to give up.

After a minute Kinn sighs and starts massaging his temple. “Fine. Whatever it was, it made you lose focus while on duty. That’s unacceptable and you will be punished for this.” Kinn says it with such finality that Porsche can’t even protest. He waits for some kind of follow-up, a word of comfort, understanding, but it never comes. Kinn’s no longer paying attention to him and he suddenly feels like an intruder. It’s a space where he’s always felt safe, a space where he and Kinn were equals, no longer bound by their profession, but now it seems like a place he doesn’t belong in. He sees movement in the corner of his eye and when he looks in its direction he sees Kinn’s hand waving at him dismissively. It’s clear he’s done talking and wants Porsche out of the room. So Porsche does what is expected of him, he steps into his role as a bodyguard and exits.

Porsche heads to his room, thankfully it’s empty with Pete gone to visit his grandmother. He wants to be alone, needs to think over his options. He tries to forget the argument, or whatever it was, but the image of the man he came to cherish so agitated is occupying his mind. Suddenly the stress of it all is too overwhelming and he starts to hyperventilate. As he tries to breathe he finds himself curled up in a ball, held together by his arms, feeling as if if he lets go he’ll break beyond repair. He briefly wonders if he should just tell Kinn about the test, but quickly lets go of the idea. There’s no way his boss would consider it good news. Because it seems that’s all Kinn is, an employer who occasionally fucks his employees. Porsche can’t think of himself as someone special, he needs to walk on solid ground, and right now, in this house, all he can feel is uncertainty.

There’s a knock on the door and his heart sinks, he expects to see Big or Ken ready to carry out the punishment. He slowly gets up and opens the door, not looking up. He doesn’t want anyone to see his red eyes and tear-stained cheeks. He waits and waits, but all he hears is silence. He finally decides to look up and as soon as he does he sees the person he least expected to see. It’s Kinn, standing in front of him in all his glory, his hair is messy, almost as if he tugged at it in frustration. He looks defeated, all the anger from earlier gone and replaced by nervousness.

“I’m sorry.” That is all he says and then Porsche is being embraced, Kinn’s head settles in the crook of his neck and Porsche feels wetness on his shoulder. Kinn is crying, it’s not audible, he’s used to hiding his tears, never making a sound. Porsche closes the door and leads them both to the bed. He sits down and Kinn lands in his lap, holding him close. Porsche wants to tell him it’s okay, but it really isn’t, so he waits for Kinn to talk. He can’t stop himself from drawing soothing circles on Kinn’s back, he may be disappointed and confused, but Kinn is still important to him and it breaks his heart to see him like that. Finally, Kinn raises his head but doesn’t look Porsche in the eyes as he says. “I don’t know why I reacted like that. I think I’m just used to everyone being straightforward with me, never hiding anything. No one in this house has ever said no to me, I guess it made me snap and I’m so, so very sorry for that. As soon as you left I realised that I was wrong, I overstepped and made you feel like you weren’t welcome in that space, our space. Because that's what my room is, a space for us to be together, and I don’t want that to change. I like that you defy me, it means you’re not just entertaining me because I’m your boss. It means so much to me to have someone there for me, not because they’re obliged, but because they truly want to. You're the only one that’s ever made me feel this way and it’s scary. I’m afraid of losing this connection with you, of losing the only true relationship I’ve had in years.” It’s like a never ending waterfall of words and Kinn is still not looking at him. Porsche grabs his shoulders and forces their bodies apart. The look in Kinn’s eyes melts his heart and makes it impossible to stay mad at him, so he decides to momentarily forget about the events that led them to the conflict. He sighs and places a sweet short kiss on Kinn’s lips. The older man smiles and tries to deepen the kiss, but Porsche is quick to move back.

“You were awful” He whispers and there are tears in his eyes, he’s been a bit more emotional for the past few weeks. “It was scary, I thought whatever it is that’s between us was over. Like you didn’t care about me anymore, like I was just another one of your boytoys.” His voice is filled with pain, and Kinn seems to realise just how much damage he’s done.

“Porsche, I never wanted to make you feel that way. It’s true that my father probably won’t easily accept you as my partner, and the thought of that scares me, but with you by my side I feel like I’m capable of anything. You’re not just a fling, what we have is so much more, I didn’t want to label us, I was too scared of it becoming real, but hearing you say those words makes me want to make us official.” Kinn is now fully focused on Porsche’s face, eyes searching, trying to gauge his feelings. He didn’t think Porsche needed reassurance, the thought never even crossed his mind. He viewed Porsche as a strong, independent man who didn’t get anxious, but he could clearly see how wrong he’s been.

“I don’t want to force you to say this. I just thought I meant something to you, something more. But when you said I was forgetting my place it felt as if you really didn’t care about me. It was like a bucket of cold water.” Porsche doesn’t want to seem desperate, doesn’t want Kinn to feel like he has to accommodate his neediness.

“No, no, no. Porsche, I’m saying this because that’s what I want. You’re important to me and I do want you in my life as a constant. I want you to stand on equal ground with me, I can’t promise it’ll be soon, but I’ll do everything in my power to make that happen. I’m sorry I reacted with such hostility, I want you to be able to disagree with me, to draw a line which I cannot cross without permission.” Kinn looks at him with such adoration that all Porsche can do is believe him. There’s a constant ache in his heart reminding him of his secret, but he chooses to ignore it for now.

“I didn’t think you’d come for me. When I heard the knock I thought it was time for the punishment. I honestly thought there was nothing left to fight for.” Kinn is starting to get heavy on Porsche’s lap, so he decides to switch positions and pushes him off. Kinn stands confused for a second before he’s being pushed to sit on the bed. Porsche climbs in his lap and buries his head in Kinn’s chest, finally feeling properly comforted.

“When you left I realised how stupid I sounded. I got too emotional over a trivial matter.” Kinn continues their conversation, he needs Porsche to know he was in the wrong.

“Well, it wasn’t that trivial, I do admit I shouldn't have gotten distracted.” It feels like the air around them is lighter, both of them suddenly find it easier to breathe.

“And I admit the client wasn’t much of a threat, I shouldn’t have gotten so heated. Although I’m still curious about what absorbed your mind.” Kinn arches his brow and looks down, but decides not to push the matter. The realisation dawns on him, he trusts Porsche, he doesn’t need to know everything, he can accept that Porsche sometimes needs space.

“I’m glad you came.” Porsche cuddles up to Kinn as he wraps his arms around his waist.

“Me too. I’m glad you let me in.” He kisses Porsche’s temple and holds him a little bit tighter than usual.

After that day Kinn seems a bit more careful around Porsche, and showers him with affection. Porsche cannot complain, but he feels wrong for keeping such a big secret from him. On a day when Kinn has business outside the country Porsche says he’s feeling unwell and doesn’t go with him. Instead he searches for a far away clinic where he can go and get the confirmation he so desperately needs and registers. He sneaks out of the compound and goes straight there. It takes him over an hour and he hopes that’s far enough. He walks inside, his stomach tied in knots with anxiety. He waits for his name to be called and when he finally hears it he contemplates just running away. Maybe if he ignores the problem it’ll go away on its own. The rational part of him knows that won’t happen, so he forces himself up and steps into the doctor’s office. He stands awkwardly and fidgets not knowing what to do with himself.

“Please, sit down and make yourself comfortable.” The doctor states and Porsches finally looks up. It’s a woman, she’s young and the bright smile on her face puts him at ease. He sits down and twiddles his thumbs. “So, what brings you in, today?” She finally asks and leans on her desk. Porsche doesn’t know where to start, so he decides to just be honest.

“I think I’m pregnant” He responds quietly, voice barely audible.

“Okay, and why do you think that?” She questions and gives him an encouraging nod.

“I’ve been feeling a little off for a while now, and impulsively took a pregnancy test, the one you pee on, and it was positive.” He forces the words out.

“And is that good news?” And Porsche knows exactly what she means by asking this. She’s giving him options, options he hasn’t even considered yet.

“I…” He stutters. “I don’t know.” He finally says and it’s like it finally fully registered in his mind.

“That’s okay, let’s not worry about it for now. What’s important is checking if you really are pregnant and then we can talk about the available options. How does that sound?” She asks and her positive attitude makes Porsche calm down.

“Yes, let’s check. Maybe I was worried for nothing.” He gives himself false hope.

The doctor smiles at him and gives him a cup to pee in. He looks up and prays to anyone who might be listening for a negative result. He’s not able to have a baby right now, wouldn’t be able to provide them a good, stable life. He hands the cup back to a nurse who tells him to wait for the doctor to come back and waits anxiously for the results. Finally she’s back and has a piece of paper in her hand. Porsche feels like he might throw up.

“I’ve got the results here.” She says as she sits down. “Are you ready to hear it?” She asks and waits for confirmation. Porsche nods weakly, he’ll never be ready. “Okay, so, the test was positive, you are pregnant, but I think deep down you already knew that.” She continues and looks at him with concern. Porsche feels dizzy, he knew that there was essentially no way for the test to have been wrong, but he must’ve still hoped for that. Now that he knows for certain it suddenly seems real. “So let me ask you again, is that good news?” And once again, Porsche doesn’t have an answer for that. “What about the father?” She asks and his head swarms with questions. Right, what about Kinn? Is it possible to hide the pregnancy under his scrutiny? Or should he just have an abortion, is that what Kinn would’ve wanted?

“I need some time to think.” Is what he decides to go with. The doctor nods at him and asks him to lie down on the exam table.

“I’ll just do a quick ultrasound to determine how far along you are and to check on the baby.” She explains. “Pull your shirt up, please.” She asks and when his stomach is uncovered places the wand on it. Porsche hisses at the cold feeling of the gel but soon gets used to the feeling. The doctor moves the wand around, pressing it in various places. “Everything looks okay and it looks like you’re about 10 weeks pregnant.” She states and gives him some paper to wipe off the gel. “I’ll print out a picture of the baby. Do you have any questions?” She adds and looks at him expectantly.

“No, I don’t think so.” He responds hesitantly. He looks at the photo she hands him in amazement.

“Okay, if anything comes to mind you can always call my office. If not, you should just set another appointment in 4 weeks.” She concludes and Porsche walks out, hiding the picture in the pocket of his jeans.

His head is full of different scenarios and he doesn’t know which choice is the right one. He contemplates having an abortion, but to do that he’d have to tell Kinn, he wouldn’t want to betray him like that. But he’s not ready yet, he probably won’t ever be ready to have that conversation with him. So he just goes back to the compound and promises to himself he’ll think about it later. He’s about to enter Kinn’s room when he hears Korn’s, Kinn’s father, voice.

“You cannot get distracted by a bodyguard, they’re there to protect you with their life. Porsche was hired to do just that and he should’ve been with you on that trip. I don’t care what kind of excuse he came up with, he’s not yours to protect.” The words are harsh and Porsche is frozen in place, waiting for Kinn’s reply.

“I know, Pa, trust me, he’s no one. I just enjoy his company from time to time, nothing serious. I admit I let him stay in today and I shouldn't have made that mistake, it won’t happen again.” Kinn’s voice rings inside Porsche’s head.

“It better not. There are eyes on you everywhere you go, not only outside, but here too. You have to prioritise, don’t make yourself an easy target by having a weakness, you can’t afford that.” Korn states and Porsche hears footsteps coming closer. He hides behind a corner and watches the man leave. He’s not sure what to do, so he just stands there, leaning on the wall with his eyes closed. He knows Kinn can’t openly treat him like someone important, he’s accepted that long ago, so he’s not really hurt by his words. But the conversation made him realise what a baby would entail for this family, having a weakness. Not someone to cherish, but someone who would make them vulnerable. The urge to cry was overwhelming, but Porsche couldn’t let himself shed tears, not here. He barely made a step when his wrist was caught by a strong hand.

“There you are. I’ve been looking for you all over” He says and drags Porsche into the room. “Pete told me you went out today, I thought you felt sick.” He questions and wraps his arms around Porsche’s waist. They’re facing each other and Porsche can see the insecurity in his eyes.

“I did, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, but I didn’t lie, I really felt sick.” He answers truthfully, he doesn’t want to lie.

“Where did you go?” Kinn asks and Porsche can feel this is important to him. He sighs as he answers.

“I went to a doctor.” He closes his eyes.

“Okay, I believe you, but why didn’t you go to the one available here?” Kinn asks, confused. There is a doctor in the building 24/7.

“I don’t like him.” Porsche replies and knows how stupid he sounds. But Kinn doesn’t comment on that, instead he leans closer and looks him in the eyes.

“I trust you, Porsche.” He whispers and puts his hands in the back pockets of Porsche’s jeans to squeeze his butt. Porsche feels relieved that he doesn’t have to explain himself any further and lets himself be fondled. They start to kiss but are soon interrupted by a knock on the door, and Kinn knows he has to go to another meeting.

“I guess I should go, then.” Porsche says regretfully and lets go of Kinn. They exit together and neither of them notices a piece of paper falling from Porsche’s jeans.

Porsche doesn’t go back to his room, instead searches for a quiet place to think. He sits on the cold stone stairs staring into the night, a cigarette lit in his hand. His head is filled with thoughts of his future, their future. He doesn’t inhale the smoke, and quickly puts out the cigarette, reminding himself to quit. He has to be honest with himself, he decided to keep the baby the moment he took that test. He wouldn’t be able to get rid of the life growing inside him, but would Kinn even… would he want to be a part of this? And would Korn approve? He doubts that. He realises his best chance is to simply resign and go back home. His heart aches at the thought of leaving Kinn, but the more he thinks about it the more reasonable it seems. He decides not to tell Kinn about the baby, too afraid of his reaction. If Kinn would want the baby he wouldn’t let Porsche go and if he didn’t then it would crush him, so he’d rather not know at all. He decides to go head back inside, his body shivering from the cold air.

Kinn comes back to the room after the meeting and takes out his phone to call Porsche. He looks down and notices a folded piece of paper, he picks it up, ready to discard it, when something catches his eye. It looks like a picture, so he unfolds it and his eyes widen in surprise. It’s an ultrasound photo, at least that's what it looks like to him, but what really gets his attention is the name written in the corner. Porsche Pachara Kittisawat. His legs grow weak and he moves to sit down. For a moment he’s confused, but then anger takes over and as Kinn stares at the photo, the veins on his forehead become visible. Then comes the hurt, he knows what this entails, Porsche has slept with someone other than him. There is no information about the age of the baby, he hopes it happened before they met, but the baby looks too small to have been conceived before they started their relationship. He doesn’t know what to do with this information, so he does what he used to do and goes to his older brother, Khun. He may be a little odd, but Kinn felt he could rely on him during hard times. He quickly makes his way to Khun’s room and finds him watching another drama with his bodyguards.

“I need to talk.” Is all he says and Khun, feeling the seriousness of his tone, motions for his companions to go outside. Kinn starts pacing around and Khun can see him holding a photo. He doesn’t ask any questions and just waits for his brother to speak.

“Look at this.” Kinn says quietly as he hands him the photo, but Khun can feel the anger hiding behind those words. “Fucking Porsche got someone pregnant” His voice is getting louder. “Do you think he cheated on me?” He asks and his voice breaks.

Khun quickly scans the picture and lets out a surprised squeak.

“Read what it says.” He simply replies.

“I know what is written here.” Kinn seethes.

“Read it for me, please, aloud. The top right corner” Khun asks and watches as his brother does so.

“Why the fuck do I have to do that?” He complains. “Porsche Pachara Kittisawat, there, happy?” Kinn is still enraged. “I’m glad to know he’ll be a father, should I go and congratulate him?” He spats sarcastically.

“Kinn, the name on the ultrasound is that of the patient.” Khun informs him and Kinn pales.

“What?” He asks, but suddenly it all makes sense.

“It looks like Porsche is pregnant, Kinn.” Khun is stunned. “I must say I am a little surprised, I thought you had enough sense in you to use contraception.” He adds and he sounds disappointed.

“I did, we always did, I don’t know how that happened.” Kinn replies and then a thought comes to his mind. “Maybe it’s not mine? Porsche didn’t tell me anything, he went to the doctor today and then we talked, but he didn’t mention the pregnancy. I mean, why else would he hide it?” He gets agitated and then feels a smack on the back of his head.

“You doofus, have you seen the way he looks at you? He’d never do anything to hurt you. And what do you mean why would he hide it? Have you forgotten who you are? A baby of an up and coming mafia boss? If I were him I would run and hide to protect my child from this world.” It all makes sense and Kinn starts to feel anxious, what if Porsche thought the same? What if he’s already gone?

“I have to go.” He yells and runs to find Porsche.

He goes to Porsche’s room, but it’s empty and his heart sinks. He quickly looks around and finds everything in its place, maybe Porsche didn’t have enough time to pack? He runs back to his own room, determined to start a search party, but when he opens the door he sees Porsche sitting on the bed swinging his feet. Kinn is too stunned to speak and he just stands there looking dumbfounded opening and closing his mouth. Finally something in his brain just clicks and he rushes to hug the lover he thought he’s lost. Porsche lets out a surprised squeak at the unexpected embrace, but wraps his arms around Kinn.

“I thought you ran away.” Kinn whispers and squeezes him harder.

“What do you mean? Why would I run?” Porsche is confused and tries to break free from the hug, but Kinn doesn't let go.

“I found the photo.” He says and waits for a reaction.

“What photo?” Porsche is still disoriented, but the word brings out the memory of the ultrasound. He freezes and haphazardly reaches into his back pocket, expecting to feel the folded paper, only to find it empty. “Where did you find it?” He asks quietly, choosing to focus on that.

“It was on the floor, must’ve fallen out.” Kinn responds and strokes his hair. Porsche doesn’t want to talk about it, but he knows he has to, there’s no point in pretending anymore.

“I found out today, well, I actually took an at home test a few days ago, but today I went to get it confirmed.” They speak quietly and it’s such a contrast from how Porsche has imagined this conversation going.

“How far along are you?” Kinn questions and carefully places a hand on his stomach.

“9 weeks.” He replies and puts his hand on top of Kinn’s.

“What do you want to do?” Kinn aska after a while. The moment he found out about the baby he knew he wanted it, but here Porsche’s opinion matters the most. He’s scared of hearing the answer, but decides to accept whatever choice Porsche decides to make.

“I thought about it and I realised I cannot let this baby go, it would crush me to get rid of it. I think it would crush us both.” Porsche says and rests his head on KInn’s shoulder.

“Were you planning on telling me?” He asks but feels like he already knows the answer.

“No, I thought it’d be easier if I just disappeared.” Porsche responds softly. Kinn’s heart aches at the words.

“I want you to be safe and if that means you’ll have to leave then I’m willing to let you go.” He says after a bit of consideration. As hard as it is, Kinn wants Porsche to choose what’s best for him. Right now he cannot be selfish.

“To be honest I already decided to just that, leave. I really wanted to, but every time I thought of you I wavered.” He admits and bites on Kinn’s shoulder through the shirt.

“So?” And he can feel the hope in his voice.

“Well if I can’t get myself to leave I guess that means I’ll stay.” He replies and feels Kinn smile. He decides to bring up another thing.  “I heard you talking to your father today.” Is all he manages to get out before Kinn starts to explain himself.  “Shh. Stop, I know you didn’t mean it, I understand.” He says placing a finger on his lips. Kinn seems to settle down so he continues. “He said that I was becoming your weakness, and I realised he’s right. Although if it’s me it’s okay, I’m an adult, I can protect myself. But now it’s not just me. I don’t know what the best option is and I feel like staying by your side will bring me both danger and protection. But I don’t want to leave, I don’t want to be apart from you or take your child away.” Porsche feels exhausted. Kinn holds him close.

“I promise I will do anything I can to keep you safe. Both of you.” And Porsche wants so hard to believe him, but the fear is still there.

“Since I’m not going anywhere we should tell your father. I need to know we’re all on the same page, I can’t hide the pregnancy in the house, I have to feel comfortable here.” The prospect of informing Korn about the baby terrifies him, but he knows it’s necessary. Kinn also seems to agree.

“We’ll go to him tomorrow. First thing in the morning, okay?” He replies and starts rubbing soothing circles on his back.

They stay embraced in each other's arms all through the night and when the morning finally comes they share a soft kiss for encouragement. They’re still wearing yesterday’s clothes and don’t bother changing, opting to go see Kinn’s father immediately after waking up. Porsche says they should do it quickly, like ripping off a bandaid. They soon find themselves in front of Korn’s office and the bodyguard at the door lets them in. Korn is sitting in a chair, sipping on coffee and looking at the beautiful view of Bangkok. He turns to them and doesn’t look happy to see Porsche together with his son.

“Pa, we need to talk.” Kinn says seriously, trying to seem confident, but Porsche can see the tremor in his hands.

“I’m listening.” Is all Korn says and Kinn takes a deep breath. Just like a bandaid, he reminds himself.

“Porsche is pregnant and I’m the father.” He announces and waits for a reaction. Korn doesn’t look surprised or displeased and Kinn is overcome with confusion. His father sighs and rubs his forehead.

“I know.” He says and both Kinn and Porsche inhale sharply. “Khun has told me, instructed me not to hurt you, actually. Apparently I’ve been doing that a lot.” He adds and for a moment looks regretful. “I still don’t approve of this, but if he makes you that happy I couldn’t call myself a father if I separated you. Plus, knowing you, you’d just run away with him and leave your poor pa behind. I’d rather keep you here.” And Kinn hears warmth in his voice.

Porsche feels like he’s dreaming and pinches himself to wake up, but nothing happens. He’s still here, in the same house, together with the person he can call his, being accepted into the family. He can’t remember the last time he’s been this happy.
