Summary
Steve’s never had a problem with Eddie selling drugs. It’s what he does to get by in a town with no prospects, and he’s been as understanding as he can be. Still, Eddie’s different when he goes off to deal. He’s hard and distant when he leaves and Steve’s getting tired of ignoring it.
Now they live together and things should be fine; domestic bliss, and all that. Eddie’s tattoo gig is going well and they’re getting by okay. But Eddie’s still dealing, still going “out on business,” as he calls it, and Steve doesn’t understand why. It’s a sore subject between them, amplified by Eddie’s secrecy and refusal to talk about it.
Eventually Steve’s had enough of wondering. He asks Eddie to take him out with him one of these nights to see where the money comes from. He’s been through the ringer already, so it’s nothing he can’t handle.
