Work Text:

"Is that so, hm?"

Her eyes pierced right through his. He could almost feel a phantom spider walking up along his spine, disguised as a shiver. This woman was highly dangerous, especially when he knew he was lying.

"It is." He composed himself, roughly steadying his posture by fixing his coat, and hastily looked into her eyes. He prayed she didn't ask any further. "If there is nothing more to discuss, I'd rather like it if I could go home to rest. It's been a long day for both of us, miss Lisa."

"Why, that's perfectly reasonable mr. Albedo! It sure has been rough these days, hasn't it? With all this rain, you'd think that we're in a Noir film." Her eyes flitted over to the road that was still suffering the attacks from the sky. The wet concrete was almost too bright for his eyes; with how it reflected the lights everywhere.

"Indeed." He huffed a bit, as he took out his umbrella and shook it underneath the cover of the bus stop they found themselves at. "I must be going. It was good talking to you, miss Lisa."

"The pleasure is all mine, mr. Albedo. Say hello to Durin for me as well, will you?"

His breath hitched again, and he hoped that she didn't catch it, or that he misunderstood her, as he walked away at a fast pace.

Notes:

Another one, yayyy. I hope this made some sense, rather than just being one of those inexplicable brainworms I have from time to time. I hope I did both characters justice as well, because like... man. I just want it to be understoooddddd. In each case, thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!

As always, the prompt "Is that so?" is from the Daily Drabbles section in The Fanfiction Library discord server. Check them out if you want!
