Work Text:
The lull of the afternoon has settled upon the two friends as they played in the grass. It had rained a lot that morning, so the grass was wet enough to leave nasty marks on their clothes, but they didn't really bother with that anyway. One of them grew up with wolves, so his clothes were tattered regardless, while the other was a seasoned adventurer that didn't mind getting a little dirty. They didn't talk; their silences more comfortable than actual conversation.
Bennett was too occupied with making flower crowns to notice Razor fiddling with his sleeves. The wolf boy was bothered by something, with the frown on his brow etching a harsh expression. After finishing his flower crown, Bennett turned to Razor in order to show it off, before he saw the face Razor was making.
"Is something wrong?" Bennett eyed the other one curiously. "You look angry."
"No-" Razor shook his head wildly. "Just... confused."
The other boy raised an eyebrow, urging him to continue, even if he was at a loss for words. "Do you... What is a favourite person?"
"Oh. Well, I think it's something like... someone you feel very comfortable and safe around. Someone you really like. Above everything else." He paused to look away from the intense gaze Razor was giving him. "You'd choose them before you'd say, go do something on your own. Maybe."
"Razor doesn't understand." Bennett sighed at that, but was interrupted before he could answer. "But... I like you. You are safe."
Bennett smiled brightly at him. "Well, for what it's worth, I like you too! You know, you-" His breath hitched a bit at the realisation. "You could be, no. You *are* my favourite person, Razor."
Both boys grinned at that and went back to making flower crowns, before they were called back to eat by Lisa and the dads.
