    Summary

Susie knew music was important. It made you remember the things you forgot. It kept your feelings trapped in one place. It overwrote old memories with new ones. She didn't think anything of it when Toriel let her pick the music on the way home from the diner. Not until she really knew Kris.

Not until she realized Hometown was filled with things that already happened—things no one really wanted to talk about in words.

Or: Susie, some old CDs, and a big, underwhelming smalltown mystery.

    Summary

    “Your hair’s all tangled.”

Susie, unbothered as ever, simply answers with a shrug. “It’s just like that,” she elaborates, passing it off as something so natural. “I haven’t been bothered to fix it.”

“I could fix it,” Kris offers back almost immediately. The words slip from their lips without a second thought, the notion already formed from the very minute that Susie speaks her reply.

Susie shakes her head. “Nah, it’s okay.”

She’s been known to be adamant about her rejection of pretty much any request that’s sent her way. It’s kinda like she doesn’t want to be a bother to anyone – even if they had been the one to suggest such a thing to begin with.

“No, I could,” they continue, headstrong, unwavering. “I used to have long hair – there’s a brush in my room upstairs.”

    “.. You did?”

    “.. Yeah.”

Susie's hair is messy. Kris knows how to fix it

    Summary

Susie stared at Noelle’s contact photo under the call time that she had never bothered to change. It was a selfie Noelle had taken at the Festival. She was in the foreground, arm fully extended as Susie leaned over to try to get in frame, although she was still cut off from the forehead up. Kris was tucked in the middle, head caught under Susie’s arm. Kris’ face was red and their ever present bangs were covering their eyes, but their mouth was slightly open like they were about to smile. Noelle’s eyes were squeezed shut in laughter, despite her being the one taking the photo. It was one of Susie’s favorite photos of the three of them. She hung up the phone.
