Work Text:
Ever since Chrissy Cunningham started spending time with Eddie, she's noticed little things about him. One of them being that he's almost always fidgeting or moving or just needing to do something. He plays with his hair a lot. He plays with his rings a lot. But most of all...
Eddie Munson hums a lot.
Chrissy finds all of it endearing, and she's even made a game of figuring out which song he's humming. It can be a challenge at times, since it's usually heavy metal and she's spent most of her life largely barred from that genre. Fortunately, Eddie's been working to expand her "auditory horizons" during their time together. Her parents would be horrified to know what she was listening to, so their time together is one of Chrissy's few chances to try new music.
Among other things.
Initially, she was concerned about not liking his music, worried it would cause a rift in their relationship. Eddie was quick to dispel those worries, pulling her in close to kiss her forehead.
"Chrissy, sweetheart, I'd blast fucking Mozart if that was the only thing you could listen to."
She's taken to liking Black Sabbath, so he's put on another one of their albums while they hang out in his room one warm afternoon.
They were talking about their plans for this weekend, but then somewhere between her sitting next to him on the bed and fiddling with his hair (it’s so fluffy), she found herself lying beneath him, his lips on hers.
He's kissing down her neck, his hand slipping under her top to caress her waist. She tilts her head back and vaguely realizes that the guitar intro for this song sounds familiar. She's sure she's never heard this song before, so maybe this is a weird case of déjà vu?
Eddie's teeth at her shoulder removes her from her thoughts, drawing a moan from her when she feels him sucking a mark into her neck. She tightens her grip on his hair, feeling him groan against her. His hand slides further up, fingers teasing at the line of her bra.
When the vocals start, she only becomes more confused. No, she knows she's heard this before.
Eddie switches to the other side of her neck, pulling a gasp from her as he licks a hot stripe up to her ear. She accepts that it's just déjà vu and wraps a leg around Eddie's hip, tugging him closer to her.
Suddenly, it hits her.
"That's it!" She sits up quickly, pushing him off her in her excitement. He falls next to her onto his back with a yell, and she follows him, swinging a leg over him to straddle his waist.
"Ah! What?! What happened?"
"I knew it! I knew I heard this before!"
"What are you talking about? How did you..." He looks around in confusion, trying to understand why moments ago he was nearing second base with Chrissy and is now sprawled out on his back completely lost.
"This song, what's it called?"
He sits up on his elbows, eyebrows scrunched together. "How did you do that so fast? Did you learn that in cheerleading or something?"
She huffs, "C'mon, what's this song called?"
"Uh, Sabbra Cadabra."
She tilts her head back, closing her eyes for a moment to focus on the song.
Feel so happy since I met that girl,
When we're making love it's something out of this world,
Feels so good to know that she's all mine,
Gonna love that woman 'til the end of time...
She smiles inwardly before looking back down at him. He tentatively brings his hands to her hips, looking curiously up at her.
"Are you good?"
She nods. "Is this your favorite song by Black Sabbath?"
"It's up there, but...no?"
He quirks an eyebrow at her question, waiting for her to explain what's going on.
"You've been humming this tune a lot lately, and I didn't know where it was from," she rests her hands on his shoulders, a small smile forming slowly, "but it's this song."
He stiffens beneath her. "Oh. Cool."
Her smile turns into a knowing grin, "Eddie, are you a romantic?"
"What are you talking about?"
"The lyrics?"
He looks off to the side, feigning ignorance. "Hmm, I've never really paid attention before."
She drops her head to his chest with a groan, whining out his name in light frustration, "Eddie..."
He sighs dramatically, cursing under his breath before he speaks, "you know, metal is more emotional than people think."
She sits up, offering him an encouraging nod when he glances up at her. He turns his attention back to his hands, where his fingers drum nervously on her thighs.
"They just assume that it's all violence and evil because it's loud and dark and not afraid of shit."
He shrugs casually, "and yea, maybe I'm a bit of a romantic."
She notices the blush on his cheeks as he nervously fiddles with the hem of her blouse, looking anywhere but at her.
"And maybe it's been brought out by certain recent developments," he shrinks in on himself, his voice lowering, "...and certain people."
She gently cups his cheek, sighing out his name fondly. He only chances a glance up at her, biting his lip before his eyes lower again with a wordless shrug. He misses her face melt into a warm smile.
She wishes Eddie would look in her eyes and see what his words mean to her.
He still looks like he wants to disappear into the bed, so she decides to give him a break. Her hand slides into his hair, twirling a curl around her finger and tugging lightly to get his attention.
"You know," she tilts her head wistfully, "I think this could be a new favorite for me."
He perks up instantly at that, finally looking back up at her with excitement in his eyes. "Really?"
She bites her lip to keep from smiling too widely.
"Mhm," she nods, leaning down and pressing a kiss to his lips. She bumps her nose against his playfully, feeling his hands move up her waist, pulling her down further.
"I'll think of you whenever I hear it."
