Chapter Text

After the battle against vecna is over Robin doesn't know what to do with the newfound friendship with Nancy, most importantly she has no clue what to do with her newfound crush on Nancy.
I mean it's her best friend's ex that's the worst person to have a crush on. But she’s so pretty and smart and sweet, how could she not have a crush on her? She had gone through death with her and now she has no clue how to talk to her. Besides Nancy is reunited with Jonathan now so there is no way on earth she would ever look at her.
So she decides to just ignore this crush, because there is no way it will ever be recuperated. Right?
Of course this doesn't stop Steve from noticing and teasing her endlessly over it. Which shes pleasantly surprised by, she expected him to be at least a little upset after Nancy and him were flirting like crazy in the upside down but he claimed he’s not interested in her.

Robin and Steve are working at The Family Video Store on a boring Tuesday afternoon when Nancy comes in alone and looking down.

“Hey Nance, How are things?” Steve calls out, obviously noticing how sad she looks. Nancy miles at him, although Robin notices how it doesn’t reach her eyes
“Hey, yeah me and Jonathan just broke up so I’m feeling a little rough.” she sighs
“What-” Robin and Steve say at the exact same time. Both of them were really thrown off. Robin is the first one to recover while Steve just stares confused.
“Nancy, what happened? Did you do something? I’ll kill him for you.” Robin immediately offers murder as her way of solving a problem which causes Nancy to laugh.
“No, I’m fine. We’ve been drifting for a while, I’ve known for a long time now that we wouldn't last through senior year.” Nancy says trying to make it seem like it’s not a big deal but Robin can see right through it. Robin walks around the counter to the side Nancy’s on and holds her arms out for a hug, Nancy immediately hugs her, resisting the urge to bury her head in her neck.

They stay like that for only a few seconds but to Robin it feels like an hour and she feels that she could die happy because of that hug. She quickly brings her focus back to Nancy.
“Hey Nance, you should go over to Robin’s house tonight, her parents are on a trip so guys could have a movie night.” Steve suggests, knowing what he’s doing but acting completely innocent when Robin glares at him.
“I don’t want to bother you, it's just a break up.” Nancy waves off but Steve doesn't give up “Trust me Nancy Robin was just complaining about not having anything to do tonight. Wouldn't you enjoy the company Robin?” Steve looks directly at Robin this time. There's no escape for Robin this time.
“Yeah, it could be fun.” Robin says trying not to sound extremely nervous but Nancy's smile is worth the whole night of embarrassment she’s about to have.
“Really? I would love to then. Come on, we can pick out some movies while we’re here” Nancy grabs Robin’s hand and leads her to the ‘Top Movies’ shelf making Robin blush. Steve just chuckles and winks at her before a customer enters and distracts him.
Robin is definitely going to kill Steve as soon as Nancy leaves. Nancy didn't let go of her hand and is now deciding on a romance movie while ranting about how there are way too many movies where the boy saves the girl, which Robin completely agrees on but it’s seriously not helping her crush because Nancy’s just proving how perfect she is. After more discussion they both agree on a new movie they got in called The Princess Bride because they both liked the cover and Nancy had heard one of the women at the general store say that it was the best book to movie adaptation to date.Robin doubts it but Nancy seemed to be excited about it so she is excited about it. They end up with:The Goonies, Back to the Future, A Princess Bride, and (by Robin’s request) The Shining.

Nancy walks to the counter while Robin walks around it to ring her up. Thankfully Steve is still handling a customer so Robin gets to ring Nancy up without any comments from him.
“Okay, your total is 3.55.” Robin says to Nancy after she scans all the movies, and applies the worker discount. Nancy looks at her suspiciously because of course she would notice the slightest price change with her cute Nancy Drew self.
“That's a change from last time I rented four movies from here.” Nancy states making direct eye contact clearly trying to get Robin to admit she changed the price.
“How odd.” Robin shrugs, trying not to grin and failing. Nancy crosses her arms.
“Couldn't changing the prince get you fired.” Nancy says like she's asking but it's clear she's not.
“Yep.Good thing I didn't do that.” Robin smiles and Nancy finally sighs and gives in,
“Fine, but I'm buying snacks.” she says as she hands over four dollars touching Robin’s hand as she takes it and hands her the change back. “Deal.” Robin says hoping her face isn't as red as it feels.
Nancy just smiles and picks up her movies and is about to leave but quickly turns around.
“ I forgot to ask where you live.” Nancy says quickly with a faint blush on her cheeks that makes Robin fall in love a little more. That's when she realizes she's just been staring and not saying anything. “Oh! I’ll write it down for you.” Robin grabs one of the flyers for some event off the counter and writes her address on the back putting ‘Robin’s house’ underneath it with a heart instead of an ‘o’ in her name.” Here you go” she hands Nancy the paper fully aware of how much she's blushing right now. Nancy just smiles.
“ Thanks, is seven a good time to arrive?” Nancy asks.
“Yeah, That's perfect. I’ll see you then, hopefully with snacks. Unless of course you want me to get snacks which I totally can.” Robin rushes out, losing her composure rather quickly.
“I’ll be there with snacks.” Nancy giggles and Robin almost dies
“Okay! See you tonight.” Robin says before she can mess anything up.
“See you tonight!” Nancy replies and leaves looking back before she gets into her car amd drives away.

Robin sighs collapsing onto the desk and Steve comes up behind her with a customer at the register “We can discuss your crisis after you move so I can use the register.” Steve laughs behind her and she moves, sighing dramatically.
Steve checks out the customer rather quickly and as soon as they leave she speaks up.
“I’m going to kill you, Dingus.” But Steve just laughs
“You love me.” he says and he is sadly right but she just groans
“What am I going to do? I’m totally going to embarrass myself by talking her ears off about literally nothing.” Robin complains
“I’ve already told you Nancy likes you. She acts the same way around you that she used to act around Jonathan.” Steve says nonchalantly then realizes why they're having a movie night.
“Well, that's not the best example but I'm saying at the beginning. If you two date you’ll last.” Steve explains like he’s the king of romance which he kinda is but Robin wouldn't admit that.
“Fine, if I ‘make a move’ on Nancy then you have to make a move on Eddie.” Robin challenges with a smirk
“That's not fair. Nancy actually likes you, Eddie doesn't like me. Steve complains
“He definitely does and then I’m not making a move on Nancy.” Robin states clearly proud of getting herself out of Steve’s romance scheme.
“Whatever you just better at least cuddle because we both know youre touch starved!” Steve calls out going to the back.
“You're touched starved too!” she yells back “How am I going to survive tonight?” she sighs to herself, regretting what Steve and her have gotten her into
