Chapter Text
Hinata took a deep breath, inhaling the cold night air, looking down at the lively city Tokyo that laid right in front of him. It was 9pm and the streets were bustling with people, not even visible from the top of the tower where the sixteen year old boy was sitting, the bright city lights slightly blinding him.
After all the hard work he had done in just a few hours, he decided he deserved a break, so he had bought himself a soda, or at least tried to but the convenience store employee insisted he should have it for free, climbed up the Skytree and sat on the very top, finally taking off his mask, shaking his head violently to get the sweat out of his bright, orange locks. And now he looked down on Japan's capital city while drinking a can of refreshing, cold soda.
Normally no store employee would give an ordinary high schooler a soda for free, despite them wanting to pay for it. And normally no one would find it normal if they saw a teenager climbing up the Skytree as if it was nothing.
But Hinata Shoyo wasn't a regular, sixteen year old high schooler. He was Spider-Man. A superhero that has been becoming increasingly popular recently. First spotted in Miyagi, then again seen in Yamagata and even in Fukushima! And now the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man was in Tokyo, making sure the city was safe, helping out where he can and even patrolling through dark alleys, fighting any crime and mischief going on in the city's most dangerous corners.
He knew that if he was anywhere else, like America for example, his job wouldn't be as easy. He was lucky that Japan had such a low crime rate, so his job was relatively easy to manage, the most dangerous thing happening to him yet being a house on fire where he had to break in and rush through the flames to save the people stuck inside. That day he came home with several cuts, bruises and even bad burns on his arms and thighs.
To his relief his mother hadn't seen him though, and due to his new abilities and powers, the burns had healed extremely fast and were now barely visible so it was relatively easy to hide them.
Hinata, still being accustomed to Miyagi had found Tokyo extremely exciting so far, immediately starting to swing around the city as soon as he got the chance, loving how much bigger everything was here. But a bigger, busier city meant more dangers as well, and while nothing too bad had happened yet, it was still a lot more than what he was used to.
He finished his soda before putting his mask back on, wrinkling his nose at the gross smell of sweat inside the mask.
"This definitely needs to be washed…" he mumbled to himself as he grabbed the empty can before jumping off the tower, looking where he'd go next. Once he quickly decided on his route, he held out his arm, aiming it at a tall building, a white web shooting from his wrist and latching itself on the spot he aimed at within the blink of an eye.
And so Spider-Man was once again swinging through the city, grinning brightly beneath his mask at the civilians pointing at him, how they excitedly shouted,
"Look, it's Spider-Man!", or just blatantly shouting his hero name, trying to get his attention. Hinata, being friendly as ever, gave a small wave and held up a peace sign before continuing to make his way back to Nekoma Highschool.
But just when he was almost there, he heard something…odd nearby. Internally thanking whichever radioactive spider bit him for his enhanced senses, he followed the noises, eventually getting to the alley where the noises came from. There he saw a woman, pressed up against a wall by three men, looking obviously uncomfortable.
"Oh come one, don't be such a prude." One of the men cooed, trying to put his hand on the woman's shoulder, but she was quicker and slapped his hand away.
"I told you twice already, leave me alone!" She didn't sound scared at all. More confident, but also really angry and annoyed. But it didn't matter, the men were persistent. Way too persistent.
"And I told you, I can give you exactly what you want." The same man smirked obnoxiously, getting even closer to the woman, who seemed ready to punch and kick the man.
But before anything could escalate drastically, Hinata swooped in, walking up behind the men, clearing his throat so they'd get aware of the young hero.
When they turned around, they didn't even see Spider-Man for a second before their gaze dropped to Hinata's level, who, despite being a famous superhero, was still rather short. It took a short moment for them to process who stood in front of them and when they realized, they immediately bursted out in laughter, looking at each other while pointing at the hero, one even clutching his stomach from laughing too hard.
"So," the guy who had harassed that woman began to say, "That is the famous Spider-Man, hm? Looks more like a 13 year old boy in a costume to me." The man sneered, smugly grinning down at Hinata, who had crossed his arms, an unamused look on his face that was hidden by his mask.
But still, despite being insulted in the most infuriating way possible for him, he decided to start off politely, clearing his throat once more.
"I'm here to kindly ask you to leave this woman alone please." Despite being kind of intimidated, he sounded firm and serious. But the men wouldn't have any of it and just shoved him, obviously not scared one bit.
"Beat it, kid. This is a grown up's business. Shouldn't you be in bed already?" The second man said in a mocking tone, already turning back to face the woman, ready to ignore Hinata, who sighed, obviously too done to deal with some annoying troublemakers today.
"I'm not gonna ask again," He began, his hands now balling into tight fists, "Leave her alone." He repeated, taking a step closer to the adults in front of him.
"Or what? You're gonna beat us up?" The third man teased, laughing along with the other men.
Hinata could feel the anger bubbling up inside him, trying to calm himself so as to not lose it.
"Get outta here, kid, before we hurt you." The first man threatened, taking a step toward the teen, towering over him.
Shivers went down Hinata's spine and a bad feeling spread in his body, a slight sweat breaking out on his forehead.
"No," He insisted, getting ready for whatever was coming. "You three leave, right now."
Suddenly it was like everything was moving in slow motion when the man raised his hand to punch the hero right in his face. Lucky for Hinata though, he could dodge the fist coming at him with ease, the guy's knuckles hitting the stone wall behind the teen instead. Just when the man was about to cry out in pain, Hinata took his chance and kicked him in the stomach, sending the man flying into the wall on the opposite side. And then before anyone could react, the hero shot a sticky web at the man, keeping him stuck against the wall.
"Fuck, what is this?!" The man shouted, trying to free himself from his restraints but failing to do so.
"They're spiderwebs. You're gonna be stuck for a while now, so you better hope your friends are gonna help you out of this." Hinata replied with a grin before turning his head to face the remaining men, who stumbled backwards, a terrified look on their faces.
"What a fucking freak…" They mumbled before running off, their friend, who was still stuck to the wall, yelling for them to come back and get him out of this mess.
Now that they were safe again, the woman visibly relaxed and smiled at Hinata while picking up her bag that she had dropped on the ground before the hero had even arrived.
"Thanks Spider-Man, these guys were getting really annoying…" She chuckled sheepishly, sending a quick glance at the restrained man.
Hinata just nodded, getting ready to leave as it was already quite late by now.
"Anytime! I'm just your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man!"
