Work Text:
It had been a month since they defeated Vecna, everything had gone back to “normal”. Nancy hasn’t had a good night's sleep since she first got vecna’d; her and Robin had slept on the floor, cuddled up for the night, giving each other as much warmth and comfort they could in Eddie’s trailer. The night she slowly kissed Robin, something she only did once they were alone and Nancy just couldn’t take Robins pitying face anymore.
But now she was at home alone, it was 2am and she was desperately trying to get homework done while trying to not fall asleep. Her grades went down drastically as nightmares got worse. She threw her pencil with an exhausted sigh.
She briefly glanced at her window, thinking of the night at Eddies before saying fuck it and grabbing her phone, dialing a number in quickly.
It rang twice before being picked up, “Hello?” a raspier than normal voice answered, Nancy tried to fight back the blush creeping up her face.
“Robin” She almost gasped
“Nance? What's up?” alertness in her voice
“I was wondering, if maybe I can come over for the night, I haven't slept properly in ages.” She mentally hit herself, she hated sounding vulnerable to anyone, especially someone she liked.
“Yeah of course, you didn't even need to ask. Just tap on my window when you get here” she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
“Alright, see you in 20” she hung up and grabbed what she needed, which wasn't much. She wrote a note saying where she was and stuck it on her door before climbing out her own window and taking Mike's bike.
The summer air was hot and humid but the breeze as she rode from road to road was calming. Subconsciously she kept her ears open and glanced around, waiting to see the weird upside down bats or hear the familiar ticking of the grandfather clock.
She made it to Robins before any of that could happen, turning into her driveway and into the backyard, seeing her light on and hearing muffled music from outside. She smiled as she dropped the bike and began climbing the tree outside her window, which she had noted made a very good ladder.
She tapped lightly a few times and Robin almost fell off her as she turned around. She gave her a small smile as she opened it.
“Nice to see you, Wheeler.” the other girl said as Nancy fell onto her bed with a plop. She took a moment to look around her room; she had a nice desk with a pile of homework, a huge bookcase with books in languages Nancy didn't know and piles of tapes and records, a night table with a record player that Robin slowly and carefully took a record off. She watched her movements as she slipped it back in its case, placing it with the rest of the unorganized yet organized records on the bookcase.
“So what were ya thinking of doing?” Robin flicked her gaze towards her as she flopped onto the bed with the shorter girl.
She took a moment to answer “I don't really know, I guess I would just find it nice to be around someone, like that night at Eddies.” Robin flushed at her response, even though they’ve shared multiple more secret kisses since then.
Robin leaned in slightly, a silent question Nancy knew the answer for. She closed the gap between them, Robin's lips soft against hers, tasting of pop and strawberry candies. She moved one hand to her cheek and the other to her thigh, Robin moving hers to wrap around her neck, pulling her closer. The kiss was slow but filled to the brim with love, it was almost desperate. Nancy pulled back so they could breathe but gave her a small kiss on her cheek before lying down onto her soft pillows.
“I love you” she mumbled tiredly as the taller girl got up to turn off the light and Nancy finally got to see her outfit. She was wearing one of Steve's shirts and shorts you could barely see unless you looked closely.
“Love you too, Nance.” She yawned before joining her in the bed, pulling her closer “so much” she ran hand through her hair and the other rubbed circles in her back. Nancy sighed before yawning and wrapping an arm over her waist and grabbing her shirt.
“Gnight Robs,,”
“Gnight Nance”
