Work Text:
Sunghoon loves his boyfriend a normal amount, okay? He knows that sometimes he can be a little dramatic when it comes to how handsome and charming, and perfect, and pretty and simply breathtaking Shim Jaeyun is, but he swears it’s nothing less than the truth.
They’ve been together for about two years now — best friends for way longer than that and Sunghoon really cannot see himself with anyone else, no matter how ridiculously corny that sounds - he loves his soulmate, he truly doesn’t know if he’s even capable of loving anyone else at this rate.
And even now as he gazes at his beautiful and godly boyfriend laying lazily on his couch, eyes half-lidded as he tries to stay awake with the sun barely risen, clothes tattered and hair tossed in all possible directions. Fuck, he looks so breathtaking.
Now don’t get him wrong, Sunghoon is a strong soldier, he doesn’t bend over to Jaeyun’s every word (he does), he can hold his ground when his boyfriend gives him those big sad puppy eyes and bats his pretty little lashes (he can’t) and he sure as hell can hold back the urge to glue himself to his boyfriend and hold him like a little baby in his hands (he really can’t).
“Hoon-ah~” Sunghoon promptly ignores Jake’s whines as he lay on top of the smaller male, cautious to not put his whole weight on him as he snuggles his boyfriend close, the urge to put his hands on the slim body too tempting to resist. So he doesn’t.
Jaeyun groans a little, still not fully awake as he gets attacked by Sunghoon’s cold hands in the ungodly hours of the morning, the feeling soon turning to a welcoming one when he notices how hot it is in his boyfriend’s apartment.
“My pretty baby,” Sunghoon kept mumbling, holding onto his lover with tender hands as he smothered small kisses all around Jaeyun’s face, the bloom in his chest blossoming as he listened to his boyfriend’s small giggles, eyes oozing love as they focused on the small blush decorating his cheeks.
“So pretty,” The taller kept babying his lover, cradling him for what felt like only seconds before Jake had started fighting back the cuddles, mumbling about how they needed to get ready before Heeseung comes knocking on the door.
“But I want to stay here,” Sunghoon mumbled into the exposed part of Jaeyun’s stomach, fighting his inner demons to withdraw the need to sink his teeth into the toned flesh. Maybe he was a weak man.
“I want to stay here and cuddle,” he continued, allowing himself to kiss the spot above his baby’s belly button, “I won’t be able to have you all to myself when we leave.”
He knows he’s just being whiny and needy because they’ve been planning this beach trip for a little over two weeks with all of their friends, there is no way Sunghoon would give that up because he knows how excited Jaeyun has been for this — the older loved summer and going to the beach, it’s actually mildly concerning how many times Sunghoon had to physically go into the water just to get his baby out of it.
“You always do,” Jake nuzzled his nose into the top part of Sunghoon’s blonde hair, “there is not a moment in life where you don’t have me.”
The taller one knows if anyone else were to hear that, they would cringe until the end of time, but Sunghoon could only smile to himself, loving the reassurance he gets from his lover. Fine. He’ll admit that much — the constant corny jokes and sweet words that his boyfriend bounces back to him when he’s in one of his Jaeyun Moods is honestly the moment where he feels like he’s on Cloud 9. His chest blooms with warmth every single time and it calms the ugly little demon inside his chest.
“I know,” he whispers gently, leaning back up to give his boyfriend a small kiss, humming into his mouth as his hands tighten around Jaeyun’s small waist. This boy’s body will literally be the death of him, mark his words.
“I love you,” he pulled back, looking at his baby with pure love and nothing less, “I love you so much,” Jaeyun offered him a gentle smile whilst his mind is still clogged with sleep, a small hand coming to rest on top of Sunghoon’s bedhead.
Jake caressed his lover’s head softly, pulling him a little closer by the neck so he could loop his arms around him comfortably, offering the male a gentle hug before they ought to finally get up from Sunghoon’s couch and actually get ready to go.
He felt his boyfriend exhale gently into the crook of his neck and Jaeyun swears this is pure bliss — nothing can feel better than this. Being cradled and loved in Sunghoon’s hold was the best feeling ever and nothing will ever beat that — and that’s coming from someone who finds joy in the smallest of things.
“Alright,” with a lot of inner struggling, Sunghoon finally detached himself from his baby, heart soaring once he looked back down at the boy under him. Only he gets to see him in such domestic bliss, only he gets to enjoy these types of morning cuddles and only he gets to receive these gentle kisses and head ruffles.
“Let’s go, pup,” the taller one helped Jaeyun get up from the couch, which was easier said than done because when the boy is tired, he’s tired. Nothing can get him to get up from whichever nest he dubbed as his bed. Well, unless you’re Park Sunghoon who can simply pick him up and carry him to where he needs to be, then maybe you can get him up.
🧸
“I hope we didn’t forget anything,” Jaeyun mumbled under his breath for the nth time, checking their huge sports bag once more. The bag is actually one of the very first gifts Sunghoon received in the earlier stages of their relationship — he still fusses about the price every chance he gets because who in their right mind spends that much money on someone like Sunghoon. But he is grateful for it nonetheless, it came in handy for his hockey tournaments that never seemed to end in that specific year of high school.
“Baby, we have everything,” Sunghoon mumbled on his bed, phone snug in his arms as he played his daily sudoku game with furrowed eyebrows, “and besides, I have no doubt that Jongseong triple packed for this trip like usual.”
When he didn’t hear a reply from his boyfriend, Sunghoon quickly paused his game (he is very serious about getting fast timing on sudoku, alright?) and looked back towards the foot of the bed, heart melting immediately when he saw the pout on his baby’s lips.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, locking his phone and sitting up on the bed, looking into the bag with curious eyes, not understanding what could be making Jaeyun pout so seriously at the bag.
“I just don’t want today to go wrong,” he finally sighed, walking towards the bed and sitting on it with a big huff, his fluffy hair bouncing up and down as he did. Sunghoon looked at the curly hair with sparkly eyes, loving how good of a job he did with colouring it. The grey-blue ends really did turn out wonderful.
“It won’t,” he was quick to reassure, reaching out to clasp Jake’s hands in his, “what’s wrong, pup?”
He asked gently, he was always so gentle with his angel, always making Jaeyun’s heart melt and easily relax.
Jaeyun looked up, the pout still evident on his face as he reached out for another hug from his boyfriend, Sunghoon’s arms easily wrapping around his slim waist. They stayed like that for a bit — Jake burying himself in his lover’s neck as the younger provides his back with gentle pats and massages.
“I’m just scared,” Of the beach? “of this being the last summer we’re ever going to spend together as a family .” Oh.
Sunghoon knows where the older’s fears are coming from — three of them are starting University this year, meaning they won’t be in the same school anymore, not on the same street and maybe not even in the same city. They grew up together - all of them, they have formed such a tight bond that it is terrifying to think about what’s going to happen when the semester starts.
Sunghoon gently patted the back of his boyfriend’s head, kissing the side of his neck softly, “I know, love, I know you’re scared - I am too.”
Jake burrowed deeper into Sunghoon, exhaling sadly, “But we’re not leaving each other, no one is, okay? We’ll be just fine.”
They stayed like that for a bit longer before they were interrupted by Jaeyun’s phone messages going off at an ungodly fast speed. Ah, Sunoo was informing them about their arrival.
“Let’s go, pup, they’re here,” the two detached themselves finally, Jake shaking his head in a way of forgetting his silly little fear, opting to check their back for one last time before zipping it up and smiling up at Sunghoon.
“Can you carry it?” And damn Sunghoon if he didn’t bend to every single one of his baby’s requests.
By the time they exited his apartment door, flip-flops on and sunglasses perched up on both of their noses, Riki had already managed to climb his way up three flights of stairs with a ridiculous duck pool floaty around his hips, wife smile on his face.
“Hyungs, look!” he spun around as if giving them a whole model runway show, shoving the duck’s massive and bright yellow head in their faces, “His name is John.”
“John…?” Sunghoon mumbled, raising an eyebrow as he fixed the heavy bag on his shoulder, looking at the boy as if he had gone completely mad, “How did you even fit that damn thing through the entryway?”
“I love it!” His boyfriend beamed, wiping the forming pout off Riki’s face, happily petting the massive duck with a wide smile, pushing his sunglasses above his head in a way that nearly sent Sunghoon’s knees to the floor.
“Let’s go, Heeseung Hyung said we need to leave early or else the beach will be overcrowded!”
The two followed along, Riki talking about how Jongseong had bought John in the random store the two had gone to for snacks, making Sunghoon roll his eyes in entertainment, finding the situation so Jongseong-y.
“Good morning!” Jaeyun greeted the three other males standing outside the apartment complex, all sporting shorts and sunglasses, similar to the couple.
“Mornin’, fellas,” Heeseung mumbled as he tried to make space in the back of the car for one more bag, struggling a tad bit when one of Sunoo’s pool noodles sprung out of nowhere.
“Morning!” Jongseong greeted as well helping Heeseung shove the pool noodle back into whatever hole it sprung out of, laughing when it nearly hit the oldest in the face.
“Give me your bag before the noodle comes back for round two,” Heeseung ushered, waving his hand frantically as Sunghoon passed him the bag, helping him squeeze it into the small space that was left.
“Holy fuck, what did y’all pack ?” Sunghoon gawked at the stupidly large amount of bags, “it’s like we’re leaving on a month-long trip.”
“It’s mostly emergency items,” Jay explained, closing the trunk with a heavy sigh, “you can never be too sure.”
Sunghoon rolled his eyes and followed the two towards the front of the car, hissing when his hand touched the scorching hot car’s side. It was too damn hot.
“How do we sit?” Jake asked, walking beside Sunghoon, leaning tiredly onto his shoulder, “I want to get there before my face melts off.”
“The usual, Sunoo and Jungwon are already shoved in the far back,” Jongseong explains as he made himself hella comfy in the passenger seat of Heeseung’s car.
“Easy for you to say,” Sunghoon mumbled, envying the older’s spot each and every time they took a ride — it was not fair, but Jay would not let anyone else near the aux.
“Let’s go, let’s go, we’re cooking in here!” Sunoo whined from inside the car, earning a chuckle from Jake.
“Let’s go~” he cheered happily, following Sunghoon into the middle seat, waving happily at Jungwon and Sunoo who excitedly greeted him back.
Jaeyun usually sat in the middle because of his smaller frame (and because Sunghoon would rather drop dead than not have his boyfriend next to him on any sort of ride). They all buckled in, Riki sadly deflating John in the seat on the other side of Jake.
“We’ll blow him back up at the beach, don’t worry,” Jake comforted, patting the youngest one’s head.
In all honesty, the car ride was horrible — it was way too hot, the constant wind blowing from Heeseung’s open window nearly made him go deaf and the little kicks Jungwon was giving him from the back of the car were nearly driving him insane for the whole 40-minute ride, hell he couldn’t even rest his hand on his boyfriend’s leg or hold his hand because it was too damn stuffy and sticky. He was ready to open the window and roll away.
“Woah,” Jake beamed as they rolled into the parking lot of the beach, leaning over Sunghoon to get a good look out of his window, “it looks so nice!”
Everyone agreed as they hurriedly unbuckled themselves and shuffled out of the car as fast as they could, wanting to get into the water as fast as possible.
“We’ll get the bags, can you guys go find us a good spot?” Heeseung asked, tucking his keys in Jongseong’s fanny pack. Sunghoon chuckled to himself as he looked at his friend’s mom-inspired outside.
“Okay!” Sunoo beamed, taking the bag with the blankets along with Jake and Jungwon taking the volleyball and some other easy-weight items.
As the trio headed off to look for a good spot, the rest of them started taking out all the other bags — Riki put on his own backpack and offered to carry the sun umbrella whilst Herseung struggled to carry three of Jongseong’s bags whilst his boyfriend carried the one backpack Heeseung had shoved in the trunk. Boy, was Sunghoon glad Jaeyun was an excellent packer and didn’t need 30 different bags for every little item. He still helped Heeseung with one of the bags because the older one looked like it might fall to the ground any second.
The sand was hot once they stepped into the beach area, passing by a bunch of people in hopes of spotting their little group of friends.
Riki quickly ran to the three, nearly taking out a random stranger with his sun umbrella as he hurriedly bounced to them.
Heeseung apologized for the younger man as the middle-aged man cursed the running boy out, making the rest of them chuckle in amusement.
“Blah,” Heeseung heaved, placing the bags down next to the two big blankets Sunoo and Jake had rolled out.
They put their bags down in a hurry, wanting to get into the shimmering water as soon as possible. Sunghoon helped Riki place the sun umbrella on the ground as Jake offered to start blowing up John for the younger, seeing how the boy wanted to take a dip right then and there.
Jay and Heeseung were the first ones to finally step foot into the water (right after Jongseong lathered his boyfriend up with an ungodly amount of sunscreen), the oldest quickly tackling his boyfriend into the water, earning an earful from Jay and a set of laughs from the rest of them.
“Let’s fucking go!” Riki screamed as he ran towards the water, John snug around his waist and dollar store goggles around his eyes.
Sunoo and Jungwon opted to calmly walk alongside the beach first before swimming, wanting to check the surroundings if there was anything else they could do afterwards.
That left the two boyfriends sitting on one of the blankets, Jaeyun fussing about his lover’s hair as he applied sunscreen to the male’s face.
“I don’t want you to burn up like last time,” he mumbled, lathering up every inch of exposed skin he could find, the action making Sunghoon smile from ear to ear. He felt so loved for such a stupid and small thing. The fact that Jaeyun didn’t want him to walk around like a tomato sent his heart into a total frenzy.
Once the older was done, the blonde did the same for him — happily smoothing down the cream into his baby’s soft skin, overjoyed from being able to touch his boyfriend everywhere possible.
“Will you come with me?” Jaeyun asked, taking off his shirt after asking Sunghoon to get his back. Okay, listen, Sunghoon is an incredibly weak man, does anyone really expect him to function properly when his baby is glowing so beautifully under the sun with his pretty stomach on full display? The answer is — no.
“Hoonie?” Jake asked after not being answered nor lathered in sunscreen.
“What? Oh, uhm,” he stuttered, gently applying a hefty amount onto his hands, rubbing the product into the beautiful and bronze skin of his boyfriend, “I don’t know, I think I will later.”
Jaeyun pouted to himself, nodding his head in understanding. He knows that Sunghoon isn’t the biggest fan of summer and its heat, nor does he find swimming all that thrilling, especially when it makes him a target to the sun’s open rays. He would rather sit under the sun umbrella and bask in the shade where the only sun that can touch him is his boyfriend’s blinding smile.
Sunghoon finished up his lover’s back, kissing the back of his baby’s neck before letting him finish off his chest himself, quickly joining the two oldest in the shimmering water, leaving Sunghoon alone to enjoy the pretty view of his baby having fun.
Or not.
He found himself dozing off the very second he laid down more comfortably on his back, a random towel covering his bare legs because he may be tired but he has some sense in keeping himself from getting a horrible tan line.
Yet his nap didn’t last all too long, soon he heard Sunoo and Jungwon come back from their walk and change into more appropriate swimming outfits, joining the three others in the water in no time, offering Sunghoon to join them.
He hesitated a bit, but still opted to stay on the sidelines, saying how there should be at least someone keeping an eye out for their things because no one else seems to even care about them once their toes meet the water.
They only shrugged back at him, Sunoo grabbing his pool noodle whilst Jungwon slipped off his neon pink crocs, leaving the pale male all by himself on the giant purple blanket.
He yawned, eyes trailed back onto his friends in the water, yet his eyes could only focus on his boyfriend’s wet hair, toned stomach and bright smile. Genuine happiness looked so fucking attractive on Jaeyun.
Sunghoon was about to go in himself when he saw his lovely boyfriend get tossed left and right by Riki and Heeseung, head engulfed underwater for longer than it was comfortable with the blonde when a fucking volleyball came headed straight at his side.
Thank everything that it only hit his side because whoever threw it, launched that damned ball, he didn’t want to think how that would’ve felt against his head.
“Holy shit, I’m so sorry, are you alright?!” Sunghoon stared at the hard volleyball sitting on their colourful blanket as a voice kept on apologizing next to him.
He was about to shrug it off and say that it was no problem when he was suddenly engulfed with something wet and loud.
“Are you okay?! Did you get hurt?” The blonde could only blink as he processed the lump of flesh that turned out to be his angel baby Jaeyun sitting abruptly on his lap, hands going to every possible part of his face whilst checking for injuries.
“Hoon-ah, blink please,” Jaeyun panicked, putting his wet hand over Sunghoon’s forehead, “do you have a concussion? Did you get hit on the head?”
“How are you so perfect?” the blonde mumbled dumbly, staring at his golden boyfriend in pure amazement. Here he was, sitting sadly under the little amount of shade he could get, a ball abusing his side with full force yet Jaeyun came to check up on him and care for him, he came all the way from the nice water to see if Sunghoon was well…if he wasn’t down horribly then, he sure is now.
“W-What are you-“ The taller didn’t even allow his baby to start blabbering something fake about him ‘not being perfect’ or some bullshit like that, he simply hugged the boy in his lap tightly, not giving a single damn how his white shirt got soaked from Jaeyun’s body.
“I’ll just,” the person that was already forgotten coughed awkwardly, grabbing the volleyball with one last apology before leaving the two boys alone.
“D-Did you overheat?” Jake chuckled, trying his best to detach himself from his lover. They weren’t the most PDA-type of couples, enjoying their privacy a great amount, so having Sunghoon gush about him in broad daylight was making an embarrassing blush creep up his neck.
“You’re the best,” Sunghoon kept mumbling in a sort of daze, hugging his boyfriend closer, “the bestest baby on the planet.”
“Yeah, you definitely overheated,” Jaeyun exclaimed, detaching himself and trying his best to get out of the male’s hold, “c’mon, Hoonie, let’s go swim, Heeseung and Jongseong are coming out, so they can watch over the things.”
Sunghoon only nodded dreamily, getting up after placing his sunglasses snug in their backpack, taking his T-Shirt off and placing it somewhere near the bag.
Once he turned back around he found his boyfriend pouting up at him, eyebrows furrowed.
Sunghoon raised an eyebrow at him, grabbing the smaller’s hand and intertwining their fingers as he lead them towards the sea, passing by a bickering Jay and Heeseung along the way.
Jake didn’t say anything, simply detached their hands and latched himself onto one of Sunghoon’s exposed arms, clinging onto him as they entered the cooling water.
It took the taller a couple of seconds to get comfortable with the water and wet sand under his toes, but he soon was guided in deeper by his boyfriend who started splashing around the second Sunghoon was torso-deep.
“Yunnie,” Sunghoon whined when the shorter got more saltwater in his hair. His boyfriend ignored him once again, diving underwater and disappearing from the younger’s sight.
This was one thing that Jake loved doing — going underwater and attacking everything he can get his little fucking hands on. Often times Sunghoon’s legs or stomach.
As the blonde waited patiently for his little shark to finally attack, he couldn’t help but gush about how adorable the older is — even small things like this, something so silly as playing pretend shark sends Sunghoon’s heart in absolute despair because how in the world is he supposed to love anyone but Jaeyun? He was born to love him.
Before he could even finish his own thought, he felt his boyfriend collide with his legs, sending him tumbling backwards into the water, the rough water hitting his face with a chilling after-feel.
He was quick to resurface, being met with a giggling Jaeyun who didn’t hesitate to glue himself onto the taller’s upper body, the water making it easier for Sunghoon to simply hold the male up.
“Did I scare you?” Jaeyun teased, his eyes shining bright as his wet hair fell into them.
Sunghoon nodded, booping their noses together as he circled his hands around the boy’s waist, feeling content when Jaeyun circled his legs around him.
They stayed like that for a bit, simply basking in the warmth of their own bodies, the dull noise of the background fading into the sea waves and Sunghoon swears he could stay like this forever.
Yet it was small lives because Jaeyun got bored and detached himself, diving back down into the salty water, leaving Sunghoon all by himself.
They spent a few minutes like that, playing around in the water and just being in each other’s presence before Riki came crashing into them with John right by his side, demanding the two push him around the water.
So they did — they happily obliged the younger's wishes and shoved the boy around the water, laughing and joking around before Jay called all of them back out, saying that they were staying too long in the water, making Riki and Jaeyun pout and mumble complaints as Sunghoon pushed both of them out of the water, wishing he could take a picture of the two on the huge duck floaty.
They ate some snacks and took a couple of pictures before Jungwon announced that he wants ice cream, saying how Sunoo and he had seen an ice cream cart somewhere along the beach.
They decided that only two of them will go, which ended up being Sunghoon and Heeseung — the rest wanting to simply relax for a bit and enjoy the sun.
“Can I have cookie dough?” Jake asked sweetly, sending Sunghoon’s heart soaring once again. You’d really think that after two whole years of having the male as a boyfriend he’d learn some self-control and respect.
“Of course, Pup,” Sunghoon smiled, ruffling the blonde hair before putting his shirt back on and following Heeseung to the supposed ice cream cart.
🎀
After everyone’s stomachs were satisfied with something refreshing, all seven of them decided to play some beach volleyball, a very persistent request from their youngest.
They settled their little makeshift court close to their items, not wanting to go too far. The teams were split into two — Jungwon, Sunghoon and Jaeyun, dubbed the “athlete team” whilst the remaining four called themselves “The Normal Team”.
They enjoyed their time just playing around under the sun, even if the heat was eating them all up alive.
Jaeyun was quick on his feet the whole time, running around with a happy spirit and trying his hardest to hit the ball when it seemed impossible to even reach. Sunghoon kept chuckling to himself each time the older screamed in agony when he missed a shot or his pass made a straight line for the water. He wasn’t even going to try and deny it that he was paying way more attention to his baby’s breathtaking smile than the ball coming at him each and every time.
“Time out,” Jay whined, making a “T” shape with his hands as he went back to their blankets, taking out one of his 2L bottles of water, chugging it with the rest of them following his actions.
Jaeyun and Sunghoon shared their tumbler, passing it back and forth as they lay on the sand by the blanket. It was peaceful — everyone happily catching up on the last few days, discussing their plans for the next few weeks and simply basking in the sun.
In the middle of Sunoo talking about one of his summer school projects, Jake had decided it was the perfect time to bury his boyfriend’s legs in the sand, Sunghoon letting him do what he wants as he laid his upper body back onto the blanket, putting a towel over his head as he enjoyed the gentle sun beaming over them, attentively listening to whatever Sunoo was still talking about.
“Let me help,” somewhere along the way, Riki had joined Jake’s little project on his legs, even offering to go fetch some water to make Sunghoon’s legs more mummified.
The blonde simply let them, secretly enjoying how much the two get to act like total children at the beach.
👾
The day went on like that, everyone playing around, relaxing or swimming, some of them even decided to walk around and collect some rocks and shells. It was very wonderful in Sunghoon’s opinion, also maybe because of the fact that Jake and he got to take a small nap in the middle of their beach day, bundled up under the sun umbrella as Riki was building a sandcastle next to them.
At around 9 in the evening, Heeseung started to make a fire, wanting to cook up some barbecue and sausages they had kept in the cooler. Their plan was to eat a little bit and then enjoy the sunset fully in the water, wanting to bask in the peace of the evening rays falling into the horizon. That part Sunghoon was most excited about.
They were currently feasting on the delicious meat Heeseung and Jay had cooked up, Jake leaning tiredly on his shoulder as the two shared a small blanket. It had gotten pretty chilly when the clouds had decided to make an appearance, but hey, he wasn’t complaining one bit, his angel was glued to him like a tail.
“It says that the sun will set in a couple of minutes,” Jungwon announced after checking the weather app, informing all of the boys as they cleaned up a bit, getting ready to head into the water and get comfortable with its colder temperature.
They weren’t too worried about their items because almost all of the beach was deserted, most of the people leaving early due to the change in weather and the fact that it was a Tuesday and people had work.
“Ack,” Jaeyun whined, tightening his grip on Sunghoon’s hand as the two tried to enter the water. It had become more chilly, so most of them were struggling to get past the knee.
Heeseung was the first one to take the leap and dive under, splashing Sunoo and Jongseong in the process, earning whines from both of them after he resurfaced.
Sunghoon chuckled and glanced around, smile widening as he observed Riki struggling to enter the water as well, his teeth chattering a little bit.
“C’mon, guys, the sooner we get in, the warmer it will be,” Jungwon hurried them, following Heeseung’s lead and diving under, making a smaller mess than the oldest.
The rest of them followed after, Sunghoon walking in bit by bit into the sea, not wanting to get his hair wet.
Jake, on the other hand, was struggling way more than him.
“You okay, baby?” the taller asked worriedly, offering their intertwined hands a gentle squeeze, stopping his movement because whilst his torso was barely in the water, Jake’s chest was nearly submerged into the sea.
“Cold,” he mumbled, stopping his footing from going any further.
“We can stop here,” Sunghoon offered and backed up, guiding the two a little bit back so they weren’t deep enough for Jake to struggle.
His boyfriend smiled back at him, pointing towards something behind Sunghoon. The taller turned around curiously and awed in gleam — the sun was setting beautifully behind them, its gentle shades of deep crimson, orange and pink bleeding beautifully into the water.
He was about to turn around and look at his boyfriend’s expression when he felt a warm chest press against the back of his neck, arms circling around his neck. Sunghoon smiled to himself, bending down a little so Jake could comfortably sit himself on his back.
Jaeyun cuddled closer once he did, sighing in contentment as the two were now sitting close to the ground, their bodies submerged into the water around their neck, warmth blooming between the two as they peacefully watched the sun shine its last rays.
He felt so good — the water was cooling and the whole sea felt like it was just Jaeyun and him from the lack of noise. Sunghoon tightened his grip on the bottom of his boyfriend’s thighs, the place where he had been holding him, and pulled him closer, not being able to hold back a smile when Jake smushed himself closer, placing his chin on top of Sunghoon’s shoulder.
“It’s so pretty,” the older man mumbled into the silent evening, “wish we could always end our nights like this.”
Sunghoon agreed, offering the boy a hum as they looked back at the darkened sky, the water instantly feeling more chilly than before.
The group of boys stayed in the water for a bit longer, trying to soak up as much of the day as they could. Sunghoon and Jaeyun were still cuddled up close to the shorelines, sitting there like a little hermit crab; Heeseung and Jay had stayed in the deeper part of the sea, swimming around and having a hushed conversation whilst holding hands underwater; the three youngest were lazing around near Riki’s pool floaty — Jungwon and Sunoo comfortably seated on the giant duck whilst the youngest happily pulls them around in a gentle manner, enjoying each other’s presence without a word.
“We should probably get out of the water,” Sunghoon commented, noticing the slight chattering of his boyfriend’s teeth.
He was mildly thankful that Jaeyun didn’t protest and allowed Sunghoon to carry both of them out of the sea without complaints, probably too cold to argue. He led the two back to the purple blanket where he had laid down a towel beforehand, setting Jaeyun down gently onto the ground before offering him a seat on the towel.
The older flopped down onto the big towel and Sunghoon quickly got to work with the other one — it was supposed to be his towel, but Jake looked like he was two minutes away from chattering all his teeth out, so he placed the towel over his lover’s head and shoulders, bundling him up in hopes of providing the boy with some warmth.
“We need to get you out of your trunks,” he mumbled with a slight blush, reaching out into their bag before pulling Jake’s sweatpants and T-Shirt, eyebrows furrowed when he didn’t notice the older’s hoodie.
“Did you not pack a hoodie?” he asked, wondering if maybe he just hadn’t noticed it. As if finally realizing, Jake’s mouth opened in surprise, blush creeping up his neck, “So that’s what I forgot.”
Sunghoon hummed, placing the neatly folded clothes next to Jaeyun, “We’ll figure something out, do you want to change here or go find a changing booth?”
Jaeyun took one of the towels and headed for a changing booth, leaving Sunghoon on his own with the rest of their friends who had finally come out of the water.
When Jake returned, everyone had already changed into regular and warm clothes, Heeseung restarting the fire as everyone gathered around it.
“Come here,” Sunghoon mumbled, patting the seat next to him on the sand. Jaeyun happily obliged, putting the wet towel somewhere to dry before joining his friends by the fire, insanely grateful for the warmth of the flames.
Before he could begin to protest, Sunghoon had put his own grey hoodie over his boyfriend’s shoulders, pulling him closer by the arm and cuddling into him, heart immensely content.
“Today was fun,” Sunoo broke the small silence that the group had fallen into, roasting one of the marshmallows Riki had offered him.
“Definitely, we need to do this more often,” Jaeyun added, looping his hands into his lover’s hoodie, automatically playing with the hoodie paws that formed.
“The sunset was so beautiful,” Jongseong added, earning a series of noises of agreeance from the bunch, a random conversation springing up from it.
As the boys talked the night away, Sunghoon found himself leaning into Jaeyun’s neck more and more. He couldn’t even resist kissing the gentle skin that he found, pulling the boy closer and closer by the minute.
“You guys are disgusting, ” Jungwon commented in a teasing manner, making the rest of them agree and laugh, which made Jake blush and try to detach himself from his boyfriend a little bit.
But damn Sunghoon if he was going to let that happen — he kept his grip locked and teasingly glared at his friends, mumbling something about them needing to shut up and enjoy the fucking quality time.
And so they did — they stayed like that until around 11 in the evening, constantly singing, talking, and basking in the presence of family. Jaeyun didn’t want this night to end.
But it had to when Heeseung announced he would be too tired to drive if they stayed any longer, earning a wave of complaints and whines from everyone, yet nobody fought the older’s argument, they had to get going either way.
Everyone started gathering up their things, thankful for the beach’s lit territory and the light of the fire because otherwise, it would be impossible to pack. Jaeyun folded everything smoothly and placed all of their wet items in a separate bag they brought, squeezing it into the big sports bag, and zipping it all up for Sunghoon to carry.
“Are you staying the night?“ Sunghoon asked as they made their way towards the car, intertwining his free hand with Jaeyun’s.
The older one smiled and looked up, “Do you want me to?”
“Always.”
Jake chuckled and squeezed their hands, “Then, of course, I was going to go even if you hadn’t offered.”

The ride home was very silent, apart from the music that Jay had to play to keep Heeseung awake and functioning, giving the said directions to his boyfriend as they made their way back.
Sunghoon and Jaeyun would be dropped off first, which was amazing to hear because Sunghoon doesn’t know how long he could’ve kept going without his comfortable mattress. He passed out in the car at least 4 times, resting his head on his boyfriend’s shoulder the whole time.
“We’re here,” Heeseung whispered, not wanting to wake up the sleeping males, unbuckling his seatbelt and helping the two out of the car and to get their items.
After a quick goodbye to the last awake members, the boyfriends made their way up the three flights of stairs and into Sunghoon’s apartment.
“I’ll run the bath,” Jaeyun announced sleepily, gesturing for Sunghoon to unpack the wet items, “we can unpack the rest tomorrow, just take out the towels and swimming trunks.”
Sunghoon followed his command, taking out his clothes rack and placing the items on top, wincing once he saw all the sand that was coming off them. He placed the bag in the living room, not bothering to do anything with it.
The blonde quickly went into his room and got two extra towels and a new set of clothes for both of them, chest soaring once he noticed the pile of Jake’s clothes that had made their own little place in his closet. He was down bad.
“Hoon-ah,” he heard his boyfriend call out, taking it as a sign to make his way towards the bathroom.
Opening the already ajar door, Sunghoon doesn’t know why, but he was hit with a sort of sad feeling. The sad type of feeling one gets when they find out the ice cream shop won’t be open forever, the kind of sad one gets when they have the realization that their pet is not with them forever — the kind of sad that made Sunghoon stop whatever he’s doing and loop his arms around his boyfriend, chest tightening. He doesn't want him to leave. Ever.
“You okay?” Jaeyun mumbled tiredly, turning around in the other’s hold to get a better look at him.
“I love you,” Sunghoon mumbled into the shorter’s neck, holding the male close, “I really fucking love you, Jaeyun-ah.”
“I love you,” Jake repeated, cradling his big baby, “more than words could ever say.”
The older didn’t question Sunghoon’s weird 180 mood change, he simply gestured towards the bath with a gentle smile, “Let’s wash up.”
They stripped themselves of their clothes and sank into the tub together — it was in no way big enough to fit both of them, but that just made Sunghoon love it even more.
Jake’s soft back pressed into his chest as their legs tangle under the bubble water, his arms peacefully resting over Jaeyun’s stomach as the shorter plays with his fingers. This right here, is what heaven feels like, kids.
“I had fun today,” Jake broke their silence, looping the taller’s fingers in every way he could, “I really love going to the beach.”
“We can live next to the beach in the future,” Sunghoon mumbled into the back of his baby’s neck with a domestic daze, “in a big house with a lot of dogs and cats.”
Jake chuckled, leaning back into his lover, “And a garden?”
“And a garden.”
“Would we ride bikes in the evening?”
“Without a doubt.”
“Would we wake up early to watch the sunrise by the shore?”
“Every day if you wish to.”
“Would you make me pancakes for breakfast if I was too lazy?”
“I would even if you wouldn’t be lazy.”
“…Would we be married?”
Sunghoon broke out of his small trance, detaching himself from the back of Jaeyun’s neck to try and see the older’s face, heart picking up intensity with every bump.
“Y-You’d want that?” he asked in a small voice, a voice so fragile and vulnerable that Jake automatically tried turning around, holding his boyfriend’s face in his hands, looking him right in the eyes.
“In every universe, Park Sunghoon,” Jaeyun smiled, kissing the tip of the blonde’s nose, “I’d marry you with candy rings, or no rings. I’d marry you in a heartbeat.”
“Fuck,” Sunghoon whined, detaching himself from the giggling Jaeyun, trying to wipe the fallen tears that showed up out of nowhere, “don’t say things like that.”
“But it’s true,” the shorter man held his lover’s face again, smiling at him with tears in his eyes, a wide and happy smile on his face, “I would marry you every day if I could.”
“Me too,” Sunghoon whispered, leaning in to kiss his breathtaking boyfriend, heart soaring into the heavens when the older kissed him back with the same amount of love and desire.
The younger pecked Jaeyun’s mouth, smirking to himself when he felt the older chase after a deeper kiss, not allowing his baby to easily get what he wants. Sunghoon leaned down, leaving a trail of small butterfly kisses all around his jaw and neck, wanting to sink his teeth into his baby's gentle and beautiful flesh .
“Kiss me, please,” Jake mumbled, wrapping his arms back around Sunghoon’s neck in hopes of the younger giving into him.
“Fuck,” Sunghoon was so fucking weak. He dived back up, slotting their lips together for a less gentle kiss, this one filled with want and need, his hands trailing his baby’s back with hungry hands.
They kissed and kissed, and kissed, to the point where the water under them started cooling down, yet nothing could stop the burn in the pit of Sunghoon’s stomach when it came to his baby sitting on his lap, little moans escaping his mouth each time he trailed his hands wherever he pleased.
“We need to wash up,” Jake mumbled, finally letting go of his boyfriend’s lips, cheeks rosy as the sunset and eyes hooded, “I want to get out.”
And Sunghoon was no fool — they quickly washed up, trying to get the remaining sand out of their hair and body.
After getting up from the tub, the two dried off and put on the clothes Sunghoon had got for them — the clothes in question being some couples’ grey sweatpants and sweatshirts. He wasn’t a big fan of matching couples’ items, but it makes Jake smile so what was he going to do? Say no?
They went back into Sunghoon’s room hand in hand, Jake mumbling about something they could watch whilst Sunghoon only gazed dreamily at his angel.
They laid on his bed, the taller wasting no time before cuddling his boyfriend under his chin, chuckling when Jaeyun let out a complaint, saying he needs to pick out a movie.
“Pup, can we just sleep?” Sunghoon asked sleepily, burying his head into the older’s hair, happy to be back in a ventilated home with no sun abusing his skin.
He was genuinely tired, a full day at the beach can make anyone knock out after hitting the bed.
“No kiss?” Jaeyun whispered, looking at his boyfriend with a pout. Sunghoon swears he’ll die on the spot if Jake keeps looking at him with those big eyes.
“Always kiss,” he stupidly replied, leaving down to connect their lips once more, this kiss slow and full of love. Sunghoon felt thrill creep up his spine when Jaeyun circled his arms around his neck, leaning his body onto his boyfriend, wanting to be as close as possible.
The blonde moved his hand under his angel’s sweatshirt, adoring the skin-to-skin contact, especially if it was Jaeyun’s waist. He massages the lower part of his back, kissing the male senseless as the boy’s breath started to shudder, small moans leaving his pretty lips each time Sunghoon’s hand went lower.
“I love you,” Jaeyun detached them, swinging his leg over Sunghoon’s own body, comfortably stationing himself on top of the younger’s crotch area. He didn’t let his boyfriend even react before diving back down for more kisses, whining when the blonde didn’t do anything.
Sunghoon quickly came to, placing both of his arms around the older’s waist, sitting up a bit to get a better angle, smiling like an absolute fool .
“I’m too tired to do more,” Jaeyun mumbled into his mouth, kissing him once more before burying himself in the crook of Sunghoon’s neck.
“Alright,” the blonde hummed, bringing one of his hands up to cradle the back of the boy’s head.
They stayed like that for a bit before Sunghoon felt Jake’s breath get heavier, indicating that he had fallen asleep right on top of his boyfriend.
The younger could only smile, gently rolling the boy onto his side and turning the light off, overjoyed with being able to spend another day with his love, “Sleep well, Jaeyunnie.”
He placed a gentle kiss on the older’s forehead, snuggling into the already-sleeping boy, “I love you, angel.”
