Work Text:

Pippa bounced on her toes as she walked in front of her Daddy and her Uncle Bruce. Seeing the carousel, she spun around and said, 'Please."

"Go ahead," Clint said, "get in line. Do you want your Uncle Bruce to ride with you?"

"Yes, please," Pippa said, skipping toward the line.

"Don't disappoint my kid," Clint said, tilting his head toward Bruce.

"That's low, Barton," Bruce said.

'Did it work?" Clint asked.

"You know I can't say no to her," Bruce said.

Clint smiled and went up to the fence around the merry-go-round and waited for Pippa and Bruce to get on the carousel. When Bruce got on with Pippa, he lifted her onto the horse that she pointed out. Of course, Clint thought, she would want one that went up and down. As she got older, it was obvious that she was starting to take after him with the exception of Natasha's hair. Pippa had his eyes and his nose or so he was constantly being told, but her hair was all Nat's. As the merry-go-round turned, the lights flashed and the music played, he pulled out his phone and took pictures of Pippa sitting on the horse and Bruce kept a hand on her back to keep her from falling. Bruce would make a good father, Clint thought. It was too bad that wasn't possible or so Bruce had told him when Nat was pregnant.

After Bruce lifted Pippa off the carved, purple horse, he carefully put her feet on the ground and watched her run toward Clint.

Clint lifted Pippa into his arms and followed her finger as she pointed toward the ice cream stand. "Don't you want to carve pumpkins with your Uncle Bruce?" Clint asked.

"Ice cream," Pippa said, clapping her hands.

"You, Uncle Bruce," Clint said, "have been saved from carving pumpkins."

"How did that happen?" Bruce asked.

"She rather have ice cream," Clint said.

Pippa smiled at her Uncle Bruce and nodded excitedly.

"Ice cream it is," Bruce said, relieved that he was being saved from pumpkins carving.

As Clint helped Pippa with her ice cream order, Bruce's phone rang.

Answering his phone, he heard Tony's voice in his ear.

"Are you enjoying the festival?" Tony asked Bruce.

"I rode the carousel with Pippa while Clint took pictures," Bruce said, "and Clint is currently getting her an ice cream cone which looks to be 2 scoops of pumpkin on a cake cone."

"I thought you were being drafted as her pumpkin carving parter," Tony said.

"She changed her mind," Bruce said.

"She's a woman," Tony said, "it's her perogative. I'll have Jarvis order some pumpkins and I'll help her carve on the kitchen island."

"She'll be over the moon," Bruce said. "I'll keep it a surprise."

"You're a good uncle," Tony said.

"So are you," Bruce said, hanging-up as he followed Clint and Pippa though the festival and as Pippa licked her ice cream cone and looked for other things to do.
