Author's note
Silver - SURPRISE! I decided to load this chapter up early as thanks for the massive support, so thank you so much for the support in this idea and that of Frozen Visions. Also as I stated on the other version of this story, I am not that knowledge on Colombian currency or British pound, if you know please let me know (mainly for future stories). Also I do not speak or understand Spanish, I use google translate and I hope that I do everything justice.

Chapter two
Mirabel's point of view
Minutes before
Mirabel felt her heart break realising the same as her Tia Pepa, who had turned to look at Dolores who stood just behind her and Mirabel felt tears forming.
"Dolores... you knew he was here" Tia Pepa whispered and Mirabel's heart felt like it was breaking, then there was a little voice in her head saying that her father did not want her and then she heard what her papa said to Tia Pepa.
"Pepa, please don't be angry at her... be angry at me for asking her to keep it to herself" her papa stated calmly and with those words Mirabel felt her world crash as she looked at her father with sadness and then looked to Dolores who had a hand on her shoulder.
Mirabel had to get away, so she ran before anyone could say anything else that could hurt her and as she ran up the stairs, she heard the gasps from her family and she ran for her room in order to get to her favour spot on the roof.
No point of view
Bruno ran after his daughter, amazed at her speed and he truly regretted summoning the vision all those years ago. Even if it was at the request of his mother, he should have stood up to her and told her no.
"Casita, where has Mirabel gone?" Bruno asked out of breath on top of the stairs and he watched as the tiles shifted into an arrow pointing out the window and Bruno gasped before sighing.
Bruno walked over to the window and looked out it to see if he could see where his daughter was, but sadly he could not meaning he would have to get out onto the roof.
"No, I don't want to see you... go away" Mirabel's voice echoed as Bruno got onto the roof and he looked above him to see Mirabel sitting on top of the frame of her window and he climbed up to her.
"Mirabel, I am so sorry for the hurt I have caused you... could you please let me explain before you do anything else?" Bruno pleaded as he slowly climbed up to Mirabel with Casita's help, who moved the tiles to help him climb up to his daughter.
"Fine" Mirabel answered and Bruno sighed in relief as he sat down next to her and he smiled at the view.
"First, I want to say that I truly am sorry for how much I hurt you by leaving you... it hurt me so much but I left cause I was afraid... you know my gift, don't you?" Bruno asked her and Mirabel nodded still not looking at him.
"You can see the future" Mirabel mumbled softly yet Bruno still heard it which had him look to the forest that surrounded the village.
"Yes, I do and it is a heavy burden to have, it is weight deep within my mind... even in my soul... did you know that it was your abuela asked me to see why you were not granted a gift from the candle and while I did not want to do, by the time I got back to my room to think on it... I... I knew I had to and you know what... and it.., today it has hit me that there were so many things that I never knew about your mother... I only knew the basics, I wish I knew where she went" Bruno explained and Mirabel looked at him.
"What did you see? And what do you mean by the basics?" Mirabel asked softly and Bruno looked at her.
"Could I tell you those later today?" Mirabel looked to him with an eyebrow raise that reminded him so much of Marlene "I promise, let's get through reading this letter from this school and then we will talk" Bruno told Mirabel softly, who looked down before she nodded.
"Okay, papa... but please tell me everything about mama and why you hid away" Mirabel replied and Bruno nodded as Mirabel hugged him and he kissed the top of her head.
"I promise..." Bruno muttered softly as Mirabel hugged him "we should head back downstairs, I have a feeling that Madam McGonagall has places to be" Bruno whispered to her and Mirabel let go and nodded.
Casita helped them get back inside and the two headed back down the stairs.

Encanto, Colombia
20th of July, 1991
9am
Downstairs, the Madrigal family and Minerva McGonagall were sitting in awkward silence for the pass 30 minutes, while they watched Dolores listen to Bruno and Mirabel. Pepa had Antonio in her arms while chanting clear skies so it would not rain and cause both hermano and sobrina to fall off the roof.
"Dolores" Felix whispered and Pepa looked to her only daughter and saw there were tears in her eyes. Felix walked over to her and sat down next to her as Dolores turned to hug him.
Dolores hugged her father as tears fell from her eyes hearing her Tio Bruno and Mirabel speaking, she knew there would be a bigger talk and she vowed to be there for her youngest prima and her tio.
"It will be okay, baby" her father whispered softly and Dolores simply hugged him.
It was a few minutes of quiet before Dolores spoke up.
"They are coming down" Dolores stated softly as Felix rubbed her back before he stopped and Dolores stood up.
"Will they be okay?" Alma asked softly and Dolores bit her lip.
"There will be a bigger talk, but Tio Bruno got Mirabel to agree to come down to read the letter, so Madam McGonagall can go about her day" Dolores explained and Minerva set her tea cup down.
"Before I came here, I only visited one other family and I gave them 6 hours to think if they wish their daughter to attend Hogwarts or if they wish to send her to Beauxbatons in France" Minerva explained and Isabela looked interested having learnt a little bit of French.
"Beauxbatons?" Isabela questioned with an eyebrow raised and before Minerva could answer Bruno and Mirabel entered the room.
"Could I please read the letter?" Mirabel asked looking at Minerva and she nodded.
"Here you go, Miss Madrigal, your letter" Minerva said as Mirabel and Mirabel swallowed as she opened the letter carefully.
Mirabel had pulled out two pieces of the strange paper and looked at one before placing it down on the table.
"Mira, why don't you read it out?" Luisa said and Mirabel nodded in agreement.
"HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY, Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore..." Mirabel was cut off by Minerva.
"You don't have to read all of his titles" McGonagall stated calmly with a gentle smile and Mirabel nodded before looking back to the letter.
"Dear Miss Madrigal, We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry... please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment... term begins on 1 September... we await your owl by no later than 31 July... yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress" Mirabel read out and Minerva smiled at her.
"Now I should say that you were a surprise for the upcoming year" Minerva said calmly and the family looked at her with questioning eyes.
"Why do you say that, Madam McGonagall?" Felix asked as he rocked Antonio softly in his arms while Pepa and Julieta sat near Bruno and Minerva looked at him then back to Mirabel and Bruno.
"I should have said this when I first arrived, but no matter, I shall explain now..." McGonagall took a breath "you are a special case... you would be one of the first students that is not from the United Kingdom, I was surprised that when the letter appeared on my desk, there you were and I decided that I would come here and explain the letter to you, also to get your answer in person" Minerva stated and everyone looked at each other.
"What do you mean that Mira would be one of the first?" Isabela asked curious with a tilt of her head and Minerva looked at her.
"Hogwarts only accepts students from the United Kingdom, here in South America you have the Castelobruxo, which is located in Northern Brazil amongst the Amazon Rain Forest and they should have sent you an acceptance letter, unless... hmmm" Minerva looked to Bruno "may I ask who Mirabel's mother is?" Minerva asked and before Bruno could answer, Mirabel spoke up looking at Minerva.
"How can I even have magic? When I was not given a room? Why haven't this Castelobruxo sent a letter or anything to invite me to their school?" Mirabel asked in rapid fire still in surprise and Bruno hugged his daughter with a kiss on a top of her head.
"Miss Madrigal, have you ever made strange things happen? Or summon things to you? I can find out why Castelobruxo has not sent you a letter if you would like" Minerva asked gently and there was a sharp intake of breath from Bruno, while Mirabel nodded at Minerva.
"Yes, there were a few times, but they had slowed down as she turned four... I did not see anything from the walls, but I had forgotten that my wife had explained what to expect if Mirabel were to have magic... magic not from the candle..." Bruno placed a hand on his head and looked down "I still can not believe that I forgot about all the things she told me to look out for" Bruno explained softly and the adults looked down remembering Marlene.
"What can you remember of her doing?" Minerva asked deciding to forgo asking again for Mirabel's mother sensing that it was a sore subject for the man and Bruno rubbed his head thinking hard.
"I remember when Mirabel was about a year old, she was upset and wanted her mother, she had disappeared a few days before..." Minerva felt for the man "anyway Mirabel... she made a few stuffed animals fly around her which had her giggling and clapping her hands... I remember fainting seeing that and I also remember that she changed my hair colour which made her giggle and that she has floated into the air a few times" Bruno answered looking at Mirabel with a soft smile and Mirabel frowned thinking.
"I also think I might have caused Camilo to be covered in flowers because he made me mad, two years ago" Mirabel said with a blush and everyone looked to Isabela.
"I remember that... I am so sorry Isabela for thinking that was you" Camilo said looking to his older cousin and Isabela looked at him.
"You are forgiven" Isabela replied simply and Mirabel looked down thinking of a few more times, but she did not want to mention them.
"What is your power?" Minerva asked curious looking to Isabela and Mirabel leaned into her father.
"I can grow roses and flowers" Isabela replied as she created a flower crown before placing it on Mirabel's head to her shock, while Minerva looked impressed.
"I have a feeling you would be able to do so much more with that gift, if you like I can send you some books on magical plants" Minerva stated and Isabela smiled at her.
"I would like that" Isabela replied remembering what her Tio Bruno saw in her future.
"I can shapeshift" Camilo replied turning into Minerva, who looked shocked before looking at the family.
"You remind me of some old students as well as ones I currently have... I get the sense that you are a prankster" Minerva stated calmly and everyone nodded.
"He is, but we wouldn't want him in any other way" Pepa said with a smile as Felix handed Antonio to Pepa before he grabbed Camilo giving him noogies while Pepa rocked Antonio softly and smiling at her husband and their eldest son.
"Does anyone else have a gift?" Minerva asked looking around the children and Luisa stepped forward.
"I am really strong" Luisa stated with a small blush and Minerva watched as the young muscular woman lift the piano.
"I have sensitive hearing, I can hear everything in the valley" Dolores explained and Minerva looked at her with concern.
"Does it get overwhelming for you? I know that when I transform my hearing is messed up" Minerva asked with concern in her voice and Dolores looked down.
"Yes, it does get overwhelming and I sadly can not escape it anymore..." Dolores as a memory came to her "my Tia had something to help to block out all the sounds so I could sleep as the way it was before I could still hear everything even if it were faint.." Minerva frowned before she nodded.
"I believe that she may have placed a ward on the inside of your room, but I unsure there are not a lot of spells that can do that, I do know one that can do the job if you would like me to replace it" Minerva commented and Dolores smiled with a nod.
"Please and thank you... also my Tia also gave me this..." Dolores pointed to her necklace and Minerva saw a small red heart pendant necklace "I am not sure exactly what she did, most likely spells, but these helped me control my gift a bit easier..." Dolores bit her lip "it broke about a week after she left and well sadly, my control is limited" Dolores confessed and Pepa walked over to her daughter hugged her softly being mindful of Antonio, who got a kiss on the forehead by Dolores.
Meanwhile, Minerva felt her heart break knowing now more than likely Mirabel's mother was dead and she hoped she could find out what happened to the woman so she could ease the remaining members of the family.
"What do you mean by transform?" Agustin asked looking over to her with a questioning look and Minerva smiled at him before to the shock of the family, in her place was a tabby cat and then she changed back.
"How did you do that? Can all witches and wizards do that? And are they all cats?" Luisa asked looking amazed and Minerva looked at her.
"That is my Animagus form, it is a long process and no not all witches and wizards can become an Animagus... and no your Animagus is personal to you" Minerva answered and Camilo looked to Mirabel.
"Mirabel, please go to this school and learn how to become an Animagus and we can prank the village together" Camilo pleaded and Mirabel looked at him.
"I will think about it" Mirabel answered with a cheeky grin and Bruno sighed knowing that his daughter would learn to change into an animal.
"Before we get ahead of ourselves, Mirabel has not answered if she wanted to go to Hogwarts" Alma stated calmly and everyone looked to Mirabel who bit her lip.
"It is your choice, mi mariposita... no one can tell you what you should do, you have to feel it in your heart..." Mirabel looked down and Bruno looked to Minerva "where in the United Kingdom is Hogwarts located?" Bruno asked wanting to know a bit more about Hogwarts.
"Scotland and before you ask Hogwarts is a boarding school, so she would be there from the 1st of September to 9th of June, with a two week Christmas break and a one week Easter break, where she can return home for those holidays" Minerva replied and Bruno looked to Mirabel.
"Mi mariposita, no matter what you decide... you will always be mi mariposita" Bruno told Mirabel and she looked at him before looking to her family with an unsure look.
"Madam, when do you need an answer by?" Abuela asked firmly looking at Minerva, who looked at her with surprise.
"If you like, I can give you a few hours and even start chasing up why no letter from Castelobruxo came, also if you wish to come to Hogwarts, I can help her get the equipment, books and robes that she will need for the upcoming school year" Minerva replied in the same firm tone and Bruno looked to her.
"Madam McGonagall, there has been something that has not yet been spoken about" Minerva gave him a questioning look "what about money for supplies?" Bruno asked with concern and Alma looked to her son with surprise.
"There is a scholarship fund that can be used for Muggle-raised, Muggleborn or families that are poor" Minerva replied and Bruno looked to his mother.
"We will talk about it, what about the tuition for the school?" Abuela asked looking to her son with a strange expression that Bruno could not work out, while Minerva nodded at Alma's question.
"Tuition is currently free, but I will warn you that due to Mirabel being a first gen witch there are those that will look down on her and I have heard there are many in the Ministry and even on the board for the school that want to charge those of muggle birth to attend Hogwarts, but I will tell you that while Albus Dumbledore is Headmaster of Hogwarts no charges of those sort will make it through" Minerva stated calmly knowing the power that Albus held and Mirabel looked at Minerva.
"Strength comes from within" Mirabel whispered to herself and Minerva looked to the young girl and then she frowned seeing something that reminded her of someone.
"Before I leave, what happened to Mirabel's mother? What was her name? I could try and see if I can track down what happened to her as there are many spells that can be used to track down a person" Minerva asked curiously and she saw the adults look down.
"She disappeared... about a year after Mirabel's birth... I rarely have spoken about her, her disappearance hurt me deeply..." Minerva felt for the younger man "her name was Marlene" Bruno answered and Minerva stepped back in shock and then she looked back to Mirabel. While Mirabel took after her father's family, Minerva could see that Mirabel had Marlene's smile, eye shape and the need to wear glasses.
"No... was her maiden name McKinnon..." Minerva asked feeling the shock still hitting her and her heart broke knowing that the whole McKinnon family killed by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
"Yes, did... do you know her? Is she okay?" Bruno asked looking shocked while Mirabel looked at Minerva with pleading eyes.
"Yes... I taught her... oh, this changes everything and explains a lot... I promise I will be right back... I just need to go and get someone" Minerva stated trying to get her emotions under control and like she did when she arrived, she disappeared in thin air with a sharp crack that had Dolores covering her ears with a pained look on her face.
"What just happened?" Camilo whispered looking to the adults and Bruno hugged his daughter to him.
"She looked shocked at hearing Tia Marlene's maiden name" Luisa muttered quietly and everyone nodded.
"Something happened to her then, it is as I feared" Alma looked to her son "Bruno?" Alma stated, but he held up his hand and looked to Mirabel.
"I promise that I will answer your questions later... but first please... please give me time to talk to my daughter, this... this is needed just the two of us" Bruno stated looking at his mother then to his sisters, he knew they wanted answers on why he hid and what he even saw to cause him to go into hiding. Julieta and Pepa looked to where Mirabel stood next to her father and both swallowed, realising that the time had come for Bruno to talk about Marlene.

Scotland
20th of July, 1991
There was a sharp crack that echoed around, as Minerva McGonagall appeared still in shock at the reveal of Mirabel's mother, once she saw the castle she changed into her feline form and ran in order to tell Albus Dumbledore about the reveal and get him to meet the family. Plus by running in her feline form she wouldn't have a stitch in her side and as she reached the office, she paused slightly to calm her mind and once she felt ready she changed back into herself and looked at the gargoyle guarding the Headmaster's office.
"Ice Mice" Minerva said calmly and she watched as the gargoyle turned into stairs and she went up to see Albus.
"Minerva, back so soon, I am surprised I normally..." Minerva heard as she entered the office and Minerva felt the shock about to set in again "my dear, what ever is the matter?" Albus asked with concern seeing the look in Minerva's eyes as he got up from his chair and walked over to Minerva and helped her into a chair while Fawkes softly sung hoping to help.
"The shock... it set in again" Minerva got out which had Albus looking concern.
"Minerva, what has happened to cause you to be shocked?" Albus asked calmly and Minerva glanced at him.
"I..." Minerva took a breath to steady herself "Albus... I... the McKinnon family" Minerva got out as she felt the shock hit her again and Albus grew a lot more concerned for his deputy and summoned his patronus of a phoenix.
"Take a message to Poppy" the patronus nodded "Poppy, please come to my office via the floo and bring a calming draught please" Albus stated calmly and the patronus disappeared and he walked back over to Minerva who was still in shock.
"Albus..." Minerva started before Albus stopped her.
"Minerva, deep breaths... we will wait for Poppy and then you can tell us what has you in such shock" Albus stated and Minerva swallowed with a nod of her head. Then the fireplace entered green and a woman entered the office holding a small bottle.
"I am here Albus, whatever is the matter?" Poppy spotted Albus with Minerva and then she hurried over seeing her old friend looking shocked "oh Minerva, what is wrong?" Poppy ran over and gave Minerva the calming draught "give it a couple of minutes to work" Poppy told Minerva who nodded and soon both Albus and Poppy were relieved as Minerva looked such calmer.
"Thank you... it was just a massive shock to find out some information on a possible new student... before I tell either of you, I think you should grab some more calming draughts, Poppy... this... this news changes a lot of things" Minerva stated now much calmer and looked at her two old friends.
"Very well, I will be right back" Poppy stated and both Minerva and Albus nodded as Poppy left the office to get the potions, she was not gone long.
"Please drink them before I tell you the news" Minerva stated and the two drunk the potions.
"Now, please tell Poppy and I, what shocked you so bad that you left getting a young muggleborn student? Why did you say McKinnon family?" Albus asked calmly and Minerva took a deep breath knowing that her two old friends would be shocked by the news.
"The young Muggleborn I was just seeing, a Mirabel Madrigal is not a muggleborn, but a half blood due to her mother... she is the daughter of Marlene McKinnon" Minerva revealed watching her two friends and she watched as the two sat down calmly in shock.
"As you said, this changes a lot of things" Albus muttered as Fawkes softly sung and Minerva nodded in agreement.
Silver - Thank you again for supporting this new rewrite, the next chapter will be out between the 16th to 18th, if it late I am sorry in advance as my day to day life got busy, but it will be out by the 20th. Next chapter will be longer and will also have memories from Bruno meeting Marlene as well as a few surprises. Also before anyone asks there will be a reason that Castelobruxo is not mentioned again, that will be part of a mystery and the answer will be in the Halloween chapter.
