    A moment ago Ciri had been sitting in the saddle, then she had heard the shouts of the soldiers, the clopping of the horses behind her growing louder.
    The Nilfgaardian soldiers were not to get their hands on her. Ciri dared not think of the things they might do to her. She had heard stories from her grandmother about conquered kingdoms and what would happen to the kings and especially to the women.

    The hiss of a sword came as a surprise. She felt her horse stumble before it collapsed. She lost her footing and seconds later everything went black.
