beachy love

Summary:

Heizou’s fist, with little force, bumps against the soft left cheek of Gorou. Whose tail is sticking up in panic.

“I admire how you… uhm… take your safety very serious. But it’s just me.”

Heizou, still with his knuckles slightly pressed on Gorou's cheek, exhales sharply. “It is not ‘Just you’, Gorou. It is you. You made me wait.”

OR:

Heizou and Gorou have fun at the beach. Seriously, they are just being cute and fluff.

Notes:

Wrote this in the train. I hope you like Heirou. I have been itching for some Heirou content but there isnt much.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Heizou breathes in the fresh and salty air of Watatsumi island, letting the atmosphere fill his lungs to the brim. The warm sand tickles his feet and the waves of the ocean reach for him in vain, hoping to swallow his body at once. Heizou breathes out.

He has taken a day-off work and decided to go to his furry boyfriends home for the time being. Maybe Heizou should have told Kujou Sara that he won’t be coming in today, but surely she should be used to him randomly not appearing at times. She can’t really complain. He works half as much as his co-workers and delivers double the criminals. Who would she be to be mad at him?

Speaking of, where is Gorou? He wrote him a letter, that he would be waiting at the beach near his home today, but the doggy general is nowhere to be seen.

Heizou whistles a tune as he approaches the little house. He knocks.

“Hello? Anyone there?” he calls. No reply.

Is he not home?

Heizou peers inside through the windows, with the hope of maybe seeing a pair of fluffy ears and a big tail. Gorou’s home is very neat. There are no dishes uncleaned, his bed is made, there is no clutter lying around. Heizou cocks up an eyebrow. Surely, more organized than him. At his place, there are documents upon documents staring at him, whenever he lies down to rest. The beaurocracy of the Commission is not something he enjoys in particular. If it was up to him, he would probably get rid of this aspect in its entirety. Let the detectives free roam!

He giggles to himself. Yeah, no. That’d be a bad idea, and Kujou Sara knows exactly why. Or because of who.

“Isn’t stalking a criminal offence?” he heard a giggle from behind him.

With a skilled stance, he throws his fist in a 180° turn to whoever is behind him. His hand, imbued with Anemo Power, looks for the opponent’s face to connect with. He has learned from his years of experience that there are a bunch of creeps who take advantage of their enemies, showing them their backs. Reminds Heizou of the time he was kidnapped. Makes for a good bullet point in his CV but not useful for anything but experience.

As his eyes connect with whoever sneaked up behind him, the elemental energy subsides in his fist, becoming nothing more than a gust of wind. The acceleration of his fist has been forcibly halted, and the widened eyes of his turn into a softer slit.

He opens his hands and stabilizes his palm on the jaw of his furry boyfriend. Heizou bridges the distance between the two of them, and he presses a light peck onto his lips.

“Sorry, I was ready in time but then I thought I could maybe buy some cake for us two, since you would be coming over and I don’t see you that much these days, and then they didn’t have any more cakes left, so I told him ‘It is fine, I don’t need cake that badly.’ But they insisted onto me waiting, so they started making strawberry cake-” Gorou stumbles upon his words, holding up a small orange cardboard box. Heizou treats Gorou to another, a little longer, kiss. Gorous body relaxes, although his tail swishes from one side to the other. Heizou can hear that. He smirks into the kiss with a sense of accomplishment.

As he disconnects, he steals away the cardboard box from the defenseless Gorou. “Yooo, sick, is this strawberry cake?” He opens the box. “It is! You know me so well.”

Gorou, blushing intensely, coughs into his hand. “Anyways,” he draws the last syllable out. “Did you find anything?” Gorou points at the window through which the young detective was just now looking through.

“Nothing of value in there. But I think that now I did.” Heizou winks at him, as if this was the first time he flirted with him. Gorou should be used to this behavior from his boyfriend already, but his tail tells another story.

“Oh. Eh. Thank you,” he wishes he could come back with something, but he rarely comes up with anything as romantic as what Heizou’s brain can produce. Heizou probably enjoys that a lot. Maybe he shouldn’t be trying to in the first place.

They rest on the beach, letting the sun kiss their skins. Two wooden forks lie used in the orange box, the cake already eaten by the two of them.

The breeze brushes up on their hair, misplacing it on their face. This is what they would usually do. Lie somewhere, in silence, as Heizou plays with his tail; Gorou lying on his chest, moving up and down due to Heizou’s breathing.

This is his favorite position because of the comfortable atmosphere, feeling protected by his detective. But also because in moments like these, all his worries seem to dissipate. Gorou oftentimes is unsure if he can offer Heizou anything. He plays, or so he thinks, a more passive role in whatever they have going on at the moment. But when they cuddle, he can tell when Heizou’s heartbeat quickens. Gorou always likes to stay close to where he can hear it.

Heizou pats him on the side. “I gotta stretch.”

Gorou pushes himself up from him, pressing a hand onto the others’ stomach. He gasps out.

“Oh, god, I am sorry! Gorou quickly stands up, making space for Heizou, who is holding his tummy with both arms.

He coughs. The cough turns into a giggle. Keeping his gaze lowered, he slowly lifts his body and glares at Gorou, who, apologetically, looks for forgiveness in his face.

“You know, I could count this as attempted murder?” he snickers.

Gorou tilts his head, his ears twitching.

“Heizou, is this one of your jokes?” Gorou replies slowly.

But before Gorou can evade, Heizou charges head first, grabbing Gorou at his waist, pushing him towards the waves.

“This is my revenge!”

Catapulting his weight forward, Heizou manages to get them both to dive straight into the ocean. Their clothes soak up the salty water, and their hearing is dulled for the few seconds they are underwater.

They resurface, panting, and coughing.

Gorou attempts to glare at his boyfriend but he can’t manage to keep it up, as he starts to laugh. Gorou smiles.

“You look ridiculous, when you are wet!” he sneers. “Maybe I prefer you being wet after all.”

Heizou wiggles his eyebrows and Gorou sighs lightheartedly.

“Maybe I prefer you being… quiet!” He crosses his arms and looks out into the distance, pouting.

He waits it out, expecting Heizou to comment on what he has just said. Instead, weight drops down on his shoulder, and he notices his head resting on him.

Heizou whispers: “I love you, you know?”

Gorou heart skips a beat, and he tilts his head towards Heizou’s.

“I love you, too.”
