You're Not Fooling Anyone

Summary:

Juleka and Rose discover they weren't as subtle as they thought.

Notes:

This is an alternative version of the beginning of Psycomedian.

I have never written a story focusing on a gay couple before, so if I wrote anything offensive, I apologise.

I do not own this show or these characters.

Work Text:

Marinette was having lunch with the rest of the girl squad, talking about her attempts to confess to Adrien.

“Becoming Friends with Adrien is the worst thing that could have happened,” she said.

“But you’re special friends,” Juleka mumbled.

“You can’t have love without friendship,” Rose agreed.

Juleka and Rose looked at each other and leaned their heads into each other.

Marinette smiled warmly, “You two are such a cute couple.”

They both suddenly stood up straight.

“Couple?! Who said we're a couple? Heh heh,” Rose laughed nervously as her eyes darted around the room rapidly, while Juleka was white as a sheet.

The other girls gave them unimpressed looks.

Rose sighed, “Is it really that obvious?”

“Are you kidding? Alya asked, “You two are considered one of the most adorable couples in the fandom– ahem, I mean school.”

“Yeah,” Mylène agreed, “I have never seen any other people as comfortable in each other's personal space as you two.”

“So everyone knows?” Juleka asked quietly.

“Well, yeah,” Alix said, “You’re not exactly subtle.”

“Alix!” Marinette, Alya and Mylène scolded her.

“What? It’s true,” She said and sipped her drink.

“Ha! Subtle?” Interrupted the unwelcome voice of Chloé, who happened to be walking by, “You two actually thought that was a secret? Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous.”

After she walked away, Marinette continued, “I think I have heard Adrien mention that he hopes he will be as lucky as you two someday.”

Juleka and Rose groaned. If Adrien had noticed, they must have been really obvious.

“But we have never kissed or said we love each other where anyone can see or hear us,” Rose said.

“That is kind of weird,” Alya said, “It’s almost as if this was a kid's cartoon show, and no one outright says you’re dating because of censors.”

The others all stared at her.

“That was an oddly specific thing to say,” Alix said.

“Yeah, you okay, Alya?” Marinette asked.

Alya shook her head, “Sorry, I don’t know where that came from.”
