Chapter Text
Kim Dokja typed monotonously into his laptop, feeling the woes of college swallow him up and spit him back out.
Fuck college, he thinks venomously.
Han Sooyoung snorts, the clacking of her typing filling his ears. “Fuck college,” she agrees. Apparently he said what he had thought. He must be tired.
“How many pages have you done?” She asked, flicking dark eyes to him momentarily before turning back to her screen.
“One,” He muttered, tapping his finger on the table. Han Sooyoung winced in sympathy. “Ouch. And it’s due when?”
“Next week.” He said miserably, running a hand through his hair.
“That sucks.” Is all she offered, clearly finding amusement in his pain. He shot her a glare before glaring at his computer screen.
“Uh-oh. Here comes trouble.” Is all Han Sooyoung said before grabbing her laptop and bag and darting out of there.
He turned to look at what got her spooked and found Yoo Sangah, Jung Heewon trailing behind her. He offered a nod in sympathy and she only gave a smile. “What are you doing?”
“Working on an essay.” He said simply. “Doesn’t look like you’re working to me.” Jung Heewon snickered, peering over his shoulder to see how many pages he’s done.
He only grumbled, leaning back in his seat as they took their seats.
Kim Dokja’s phone pinged ominously and he fished it out of his pocket.
Sunfish Bastard: where are you.
Always to the point, huh.
Me: you could stand to ask a little more nicely, you know.
Sunfish Bastard: where are you.
Me: sighh~ library.
The bastard didn’t even give him a response after that. He turned back to his essay, giving it a disdainful stare. He’d work on it later. With that, he shut his laptop.
“Oh! Look whose here!” Jung Heewons gaze snatched onto something behind him and he turned out to see the hulking stature of Yoo Joonghyuk.
He didn’t flinch, he only gave serene smile #3, the one he knew Yoo Joonghyuk hated. “Hello Joonghyuk-ah! What a wonderful day we’re having, hmm?”
He watched Yoo Joonghyuk’ss jaw twitch. “Don’t call me that. I’ll kill you.” He growled out, voice dark and angry. He sat at the table.
Kim Dokja only smiled at the threat, turning to his phone to read.
A minute ticked by as everyone did their own thing, conversations muted in respect to the librarian. Then, Yoo Joonghyuk said the most shocking thing he’s ever heard.
“I need help.” Mumbled Yoo Joonghyuk. He shifted in his seat.
Jung Heewon gawked at him as Yoo Sangah looked at him in concern. “What with, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“I…told my parents I’d be bringing someone home for Christmas.”
Kim Dokja laughed into his hand, struggling to stifle it before Yoo Joonghyuk slaughtered him where he sat. It seems the laugh did not go unheard though, because Jung Heewon chuckled as well.
“You’re asking one of us to be that special someone, aren’t you?” Jung Heewon said, tilting her head. “I’m not volunteering. I’d rather die than pretend to be your girlfriend. If anything, we’d probably kill eachother midway into it.”
“I’ll have to decline as well,” Yoo Sangah said gently. “Have you asked Han Sooyoung or Lee Hyunsung?”
“.. Han Sooyoung laughed in my face and Lee Hyunsung said no.” His fist clenched on his lap, eyes glaring holes into the table.
“Then what about Dokja-ssi?”
Kim Dokja dropped his phone on his lap. “What?” He stared at Yoo Sangah in betrayal. “I’m not pretending to be his boyfriend!”
Alas, Yoo Joonghyuk was already staring at him. Something glinting in his dark eyes.
“You’re Yoo Joonghyuk’s closest friend, you’re the perfect one for the job.” Jung Heewon grinned at him, glee obvious in her eyes. “It’s your perfect chance,” she murmured to him.
Traitors… both of them.
“Be my boyfriend .” Yoo Joonghyuk said, staring at him with those bottomless pits for eyes. Despite himself, his heart started to pick up speed.
Kim Dokja let out a high, disbelieving laugh. “What?”
Yoo Joonghyuk says his next words slowly as if Kim Dokja is a child. “Be my boyfriend, Dokja.”
He really hopes no one can see the pink dusting his cheeks right now. He gulped down the building saliva in his mouth.
No, he thought.
“Okay.” Is what came out instead. No!! That’s not what he wanted to say at all but it was too late. Yoo Joonghyuk leaned back in his seat, satisfied. “Pack your bags, we’re leaving tomorrow.” He sat up and begun to leave.
“Tomorrow!? Isn’t that a bit soon?” He yelled at Yoo Joonghyuk’s retreating back, but received no response.
He sagged in his seat, hands lifting to his face. “I’m doomed.”
Jung Heewon patted his back as she laughed.
