Summary
Tamar doesn't like working for the Tower cohort, but it keeps food on the table, and it keeps Laila safe from the other Tower casters, as long as Tamar's there to keep an eye on her. But when a job goes wrong and sends them both fleeing into enemy territory, the risks are only greater, and Tamar is left scrambling for anything — anything — she can offer for Laila's protection, no matter how much it costs her.

Summary
There was a moment of disquiet when his boot first struck pebble beach, and the slippery stones skidded under him, setting him stumbling. In that moment, he saw that one of the Low-Shore men had rope in his hands, coarse and thick as a man's wrist, unwound from the coil over his shoulder to an armspan and held at the ready like he was approaching a beast to tame.
Though Aelius was under no illusion about his fate, that sight stopped him in his tracks: the realization that they'd come to meet him not as surrendered enemy commander, nor even the willing hostage that he was, but to yoke him as an animal.
Surrendering under a false and temporary truce, Commander Aelius expects to spend his final days facing the brutality of a desperate enemy. Instead, life as a hostage sheds new light on a culture he was taught to disdain, even as his own people's inevitable betrayal nears.

Summary
Details fell together rapidly- the black and white streaked hair, mostly stained with what Julian hoped was dirt, ripped clothes and some of what he had to admit was blood, the forearm tattoo of a halo... He drew a knife instinctively as the man raised his head and Julian found himself staring down into the pained, half-desperate eyes of Eclipse.
“I’m- I didn’t have any other option. Please.” A full body shudder seemed to pass through Eclipse as he reached out a hand. Blood was flowing freely from a gash above his eye, and the remnants of his shirt seemed to cover a dozen wounds more.
Julian dropped the knife to the floor, forgotten. Oh fuck.
Julian knows that when you get the chance to take out a villain of Eclipse's rank, you take it, honor be damned. So when Eclipse shows up at Julian's door looking more than mostly already dead, it isn't hard to know he should finish the job and call it a win. But Julian doesn't, and now neither of them really know what happens next

Summary
Sanji hadn't expected Zeff to get so mad at him for playing with carrots during a busy dinner service. He goes to bed that night anticipating the worst, and when Zeff shakes him awake from a nightmare, Sanji fears he might have actually gone too far this time. There can only be one reason for the dark stairway Zeff's dragging him to in the middle of the night.
The look on Zeff's face was the same disappointed coldness that so often clouded
Father'sJudge's gaze. Sanji spends the rest of service working with wobbly hands and a too-fast heartbeat.Bookmarked by Chaos_the_Demon
