Cuddling Part Three: Jackson, Coffee, and Early Morning Conversations
Jackson sighed in annoyance. He hated driving anything other than his own car. Why did he agree to give Danny a ride to school? Which wouldn’t be an issue except for the fact that Danny didn’t like Jackson’s car because he feels that Jackson is too reckless when he drives and the Porsche is too unsafe if they crash. So here he is in his dad’s Mercedes-Benz SUV going to Danny’s house.
He finally pulled up to Danny’s house only to frown in confusion. Why the fuck is Stilinski’s piece of shit jeep parked in Danny’s driveway? He pulled into the driveway behind the jeep, parked, and got out of the SUV. He walked quickly to the door, knocking on it only for his confused frown to deepen when he could hear Danny calling out to someone else to get the door.
The front door opened to reveal Stilinski standing there in those stupid red jeans of his and with one of Danny’s shirts hanging just slightly off his shoulder showing a rather impressive hickey where his neck and collarbone meet.
Stilinski simply turned his head in the direction of the kitchen and called out, “Jackson’s here. I guess you forgot to tell him you had found a different ride to school.” With that, he turned back to face Jackson and just looked at him for a moment before he shrugged and turned around walking towards the kitchen, leaving Jackson with no real choice but to follow behind him.
Jackson just stood there for a moment before taking what he was sure was only going to be his first calming breath of the day and stepping over the threshold and closing the front door behind him.
He walked to the kitchen and there was Danny, in tight blue jeans, no shoes, and a tight v-neck shirt like every other time Jackson had come over to give him a ride to school. The only difference between every time before and now was the soft smile on Danny’s face as he listened to Stiliski ramble on about something.
If Jackson didn’t know any better he would think that he was still asleep; in fact, maybe he was still asleep. That would at least explain the ringing in his ears. Or was it white noise? No, not ringing but not white noise. There were words in it every few seconds. Words being spoken by Stilinski. But why did he sound so far away? Was this what shock felt like? Could werewolves even go into shock? What about werewolves that used to be kanimas?
It was that last question that brought Jackson back to reality just in time to hear Stilinski say, “So yeah, the act of cannibalism itself isn’t illegal but if you kill the person then eat them you’d be charged with murder and possibly desecration of a corpse; if you didn’t kill them but just ate them you’d likely still be charged with desecration of a corpse except in cases where there was no choice such as with the case of the Donner Party.”
“What the fuck are you talking about Stilinski?” Jackson asked in disgust because really, who the hell had a discussion about cannibalism over breakfast?
Stilinski gave a slight jump as if he had forgotten that Jackson was even there before replying, “Oh, Danny and I were talking about Hannibal and Danny asked what the typical sentence was for cannibalism so. . .”
Danny gave a small laugh and leaned forward so that he was able to place a soft kiss on Stilinski’s forehead, followed by him brushing their noses together, before pulling back and with a dopey smile saying, “You really are adorable sometimes.” And then, as if this was all completely normal he turned and asked Jackson if he wanted a cup of coffee.
Jackson just stood there, rooted to the spot, as he stared at his best friend, the boy that he had known since they were placed next to each other in the hospital and newborns. Danny had always been there for Jackson and Jackson had always been there for Danny. So why hadn’t Danny ever thought to tell him that he liked Stilinski? Did he not trust him? No, that couldn’t be it; Jackson was the first person that Danny ever told that he liked guys. But then why? Did he think that Jackson would be upset? It was Stilinski after all. But if he made Danny happy that was the only thing that mattered. Plus, Stilinski was scary loyal; there was no way he would ever hurt Danny.
After five minutes passed in silence Danny just made up a cup of coffee for Jackson just the way he liked it; three tablespoons of sugar, a tablespoon of caramel, and a generous pour of sweet cream. He handed the cup over to Jackson and spoke as he topped up Stiles’ cup of plain black coffee. “You okay Jackson? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you truly speechless before.”
Jackson snapped out of his thoughts with a shake of his head, took a sip of his overly sweet coffee, and opened his mouth to ask what the hell was going on but what came out instead was, “Why didn’t you tell me? I thought we told each other everything.”
“You mean like when you decided to become a you know what without telling me? Or do you mean that we tell each other everything except the big things?” Danny retorted, unable to keep the hurt out of his voice.
Jackson took a step forward and was about to reply when Stilinski set down his coffee so fast that the cup almost broke and he rounded on Jackson. “You mean to tell me that you told Danny about everything but not until after? Are you insane? No! Don’t answer that; I know you are. And did you actually tell him everything everything or just everything the cliff-notes version?”
Jackson’s eyes were wide as he looked at Stilinski in a bit of a panic. Shit! He had been told not to tell anyone about the whole werewolf/kanima thing but he had never kept a secret from Danny for more than two weeks. “I would say that I told him somewhere around the middle ground of everything as I don’t know everything.
Danny felt like he was watching a tennis match as his head kept swinging from Jackson to Stiles and back to Jackson. “Well, I was pretty sure he had told me everything but now I’m wondering what else he could have left out. And what’s more, I’m now wondering what you haven’t told me.”
Stiles closed his eyes and sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose before picking up his cup of coffee, and turning to lean against the counter. He took a long sip before opening his eyes and looking at Danny. “First, you’re not allowed to be upset with me for not telling you any of this; we just started dating last night. Second, let’s just make sure you’re all caught up before you ask any questions.
“It all started when Scott and I went looking for half a body in the preserve. I got caught by my dad but Scott was still out there. He dropped his inhaler and in trying to find it, he found the half of the body. He freaked, fell down a hill, and ended up getting chased by the Alpha and being bitten. He became a werewolf.
“Allison moved to town with her mom and dad. They are hunters from a really old hunter family. More on that in a minute. The Alpha is going around killing people and trying to make Scott help. Allison’s aunt, Kate, comes to town and shoots Derek.
“Derek Hale is from a family of werewolves; except now the only ones left are Derek and his uncle Peter; again, more on that in a minute. I accuse Derek of murder because he was being really shady and had buried the half of the body that Scott found. Turns out Derek didn’t kill her and she was actually his older sister. Derek ends up hiding at my house where you meet him as my cousin Miguel.
“We are all, and by all I mean Scott, Derek, and myself, trying to figure out who the Alpha is and why he’s targeting and killing the people that he is. We find out that they all had something to do with the Hale house fire that killed almost the whole Hale family and put Peter in a coma. Turns out Aunt Kate was a bad hunter and she is the one that set the Hale house fire after trapping everyone inside; she didn’t care if they were werewolf or human. Which also broke the hunter rules, ‘We hunt those who hunt others.’ because the Hale’s hadn’t done anything.
“So, in the end, myself and Jackson, who figured everything out about werewolves after thinking that Scott was on steroids, convinced Allison’s dad, Chris, to help us all stop the Alpha who was actually Peter. Turns out that he had been healing the whole time and he also had a bad touch nurse, which we should really get him some therapy for. Anyway, he had killed his niece Laura, the Alpha at the time because she had left him behind when she and Derek left Beacon Hills. Being alone and stuck healing in a coma for years messed up Peter’s mind.
“So we got Chris to agree that Kate was a problem. He let Peter kill Kate and then Derek killed Peter. Then later that day Jackson goes to Derek and asks for the bite. Derek gives him the bite. Jackson becomes a kinema instead of a werewolf and Matt becomes his master using him to kill everyone who was there the day Matt drowned at Isaac’s house. While that’s going on Derek also bites Erica, Isaac, and Boyd making them werewolves.
“Derek is doing his best, which needs some serious work, to train Erica, Isaac, and Boyd while running from Jackson because he was afraid that Jackson was rejecting the bite and was going to die. We’re all trying to figure out who’s killing everyone and what was going on with Lydia. Allison’s grandfather, Gerard, came to town for Kate’s funeral and started messing with Allison’s mind, trying to make her into another Kate.
“Allison’s mom tried to kill Scott but Derek got there in time to stop her and he bit her. She followed the old hunter code of killing yourself if you ever become infected. We figure out that Matt is controlling Jackson but then we find Matt dead; turns out Gerard drowned Matt so that he could take control of Jackson. He got Allison to attack everyone with lots of knives.
“Apparently the thing that was going on with Lyida is that Peter somehow used her to come back from the dead so he’s alive again. Gerard was threatening to kill momma McCall so that Scott would do what he wanted. He kidnapped me after the game where Jackson died; he kept me, Erica, and Boyd hung up in the basement and tortured us for information. I was let go so that he could follow me.
“Everything came to a head when Gerard brought Jackson to a warehouse and was using him and Allison to attack Scott, Derek, Isaac, and Peter. Gerard forced Scott to force Derek to bite him because he was dying of cancer. Too bad he didn’t know that Scott had been working with Deaton, who is sort of like a supernatural spirit guide, to replace Gerard’s pills with mountain ash which is poison to werewolves. So the bite turned him but also started killing him faster.
“Lydia had shown up at my house to talk about everything and she said that she was going to go after Jackson so I went with her to try to keep her safe. Crashed my jeep through a brick wall and into Jackson. Lydia then healed him with the power of love. Gerard got away. Allison went to Paris for the summer with Chris. Erica and Boyd are missing. Isaac isn’t too bad.
“But now there’s a pack of Alphas in town, the twins are part of it, and they are trying to kill the pack so that they can add Derek to their ranks. Also, there are ritualistic killings of virgins happening at the same time. And for some reason, Lydia woke up screaming and left to go get some more pain meds for her headache but instead ended up driving to one of the bodies. So we’re doing our best to keep an eye on that. But that’s everything. And now I need more coffee”
With that rather long soliloquy over, Stiles pushed off from the counter and made his way to the coffee pot and poured until his cup was almost overflowing. He downed half the cup in one go while looking between Danny and Jackson. He refilled his cup again and waited.
Danny just stood there in stunned silence only to snap his head and stare open-mouthed at Jackson as he started laughing. “Are you telling me that all the shit we’ve been through this last year is because you couldn’t leave the police work to the police? I don’t know if I should hate you or be happy. But it also makes a lot of sense; you always did have trouble keeping your nose out of other people’s business.”
“You’re still mad that I was right about Yoda aren’t you? It took him less than one hundred years to achieve the title and rank of Jedi Master; it’s not my fault you thought it took him a hundred years exactly. All I did was tell you that you were wrong and you’ve held it against me ever since,” Stiles said with a soft shake of his head.
Danny raised his hands to his head and started rubbing at his temples and gave a small laugh, “I don’t know what I want to ask questions about first; why you went looking for half a body or how the two of you let Star Wars trivia turn you into school rivals? Maybe it should be why my best friend is such a drama queen and my boyfriend wants to be Sherlock Holmes?” He gave a small shake of his head and pressed off the counter he had been leaning on since Stiles had started talking. “It’ll have to wait anyway; we need to head out now or we’ll be late. We will be talking about all of this more after school so we are all going in the same car. No arguments; let’s go.”
With that he walked out of the kitchen leaving the other two boys no choice but to follow after him. School was going to be long and boring and the conversation that they were going to have after was going to be interesting to say the least. Once they were all in Jackson’s car and putting on their seatbelts Stiles had a thought, “I wonder what Scott will have to say about all of us showing up to school together?”

A.N. - So, I haven’t had the energy to write lately but look at this. These last few years haven’t been easy. In the last two years I moved into my own apartment, graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in May of 2021, quit my retail manager job to start working from home, have caught the VID twice, and I am going back to college to get an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. Here’s hoping that I am able to start writing more.
