-you didn’t quite enjoy living in new york especially not with the chaos going on in it as of the time of the series. It was very interesting but when it came to your day to say life it caused a lot of anxiety and even overstimulation.
-not to mention how big your school is. You had wanted to be homeschooled but other factors made that impossible. So you just decided to do your best to manage everything at the high school. You didn’t like interacting with most other students- and it seemed like they didn’t like you much either.
-until you met april! She made sure you werent stretching yourself too thin and offered to help you with any work you didn’t understand. It took a bit for the initial “god I hate having to ask for help” feeling became ignorable.
-either way she made school bearable and you were thankful. She was also really great to talk to! She learned about your hyperfixations and special interests so you could talk about them with her and she was a good listener. April was also ready to back you up if anyone bothered you. She knew you could handle it but having friends with you to handle it is always better.
-eventually you met the turtles and splinter. It was on accident actually! You had gone over to her house to study and leo showed up to talk to her. You walked in the room as april tried to shoo him away.
-you liked hanging out with the boys and april encouraged you to be close with them and be open like you were with her. It took some time but eventually the friend group was solidified. You werent the only autistic one there of course
-donnie was too and you and him were fairly similar! The boys made sure they knew your boundries and respected them of course. Mikey toned down his touchiness due to your aversion to it and as a whole they tried to keep the volume down while you were there.
-you noticed donnie struggling with some noises around the two of you in his lab- stuff that couldn’t be helped like machinary. The next day you came back with some headphones for the two of you! Nothng special just wireless headphones. You and donnie put together a playlist of music and podcasts and audiobooks for you both to listen to together- he even got some art supplies and the two of you decorated your headphones.
-mikey has ADHD and so he understood at least somewhat what you and don dealt with. Don had notes on mikeys ADHD and you spent some time going through them and learning more. The other boys had put more reasearch in to help and you would do the same for mikey.
-the obvious sensory issue is the location. The sewers. The smell is something the boys hadent noticed and that april tolerated. After noticing youre reactions to the smell and talking to you about it [because talking about your needs is needed and should be normalized for us disabled and neurodiverse people] the plan was for donnie to make some type of scent blocker. It got made pretty fast and everyone actually liked it- it was nice having the lair feel more fresh than the rest of the sewers.
-if you happen to share special interests and hyperfixations with the guys? AWESOME! Mikey will talk about cartoons and comics all day with you- same with cooking and baking! If you like space heroes or sci-fi in general then leo will update you on all his favorite sci fi stuff- he’ll happily learn about your fave sci-fi stuff.
-if you find comfort in animals then raph will introduce you to spike. Once he knows you better you get second pet parent status. Youre free to rant to spike any time.
-whenever meltdowns do happen you often either end up calmed by splinter or leo. They have such even calm voices and have clearly guided others through meltdowns and panic attatcks before.
-when it comes to safe foods mikey will a million percent learn how to make them and loves making them with you. He keeps a list of them on the fridge.
-donnie often helps with school work and is pretty good at explaining things. He’ll relate the work to your interests which is a huge help.
Overall they love you and will beat the hell out of any abelist assholes who mess with you- that is only if you yourself don’t fuck the abelists up yourself-
