Silhouetted against the setting sun stood a figure, the warm glow lighting up the end of his orange hair.
Wow, a hero. At the sight of him, who was then opening the library door, I forgot to sob, to complain, even to breathe.
He, as if amused by my dumb air, curved his lips, chuckled, and then dissolved into laughter, his shoulders heaving.
“Jesse, stop teasing me!” I scrabbled to my feet, giving him a playful punch.
“Fine, fine, fine, my little princess,” he reached out a hand to me between giggles, “Let’s come home now.”
