Is it Gay to Kiss Your Homies Goodnight?

Summary:

Nobody can sleep during the first night back on earth. Under a tired haze, Sasha makes a crass joke that the other girls take a little too seriously. As it turns out, exhaustion tends to lower ones inhibitions; not that anyone has a problem with this.

Notes:

Silly little oneshot that I couldn't get out of my head. Rated T for language. Hope y'all enjoy!

Work Text:

Considering everything she'd been through today, Sasha assumed that sleep would come easy to her. To say that she was physically and emotionally spent would be a gross understatment. Freeing Marcy, saying goodbye to Grime, and watching Anne fucking die all on the same day was like getting strapped to the rollercoaster of hell.

After the final battle, the girls were attatched at the hip. They had always been a little clingy with each other, but today it was especially apparent. They refused to leave the others side, which Anne's parents raised their eyebrows at, but thankfully didn't say anything about. Sasha was grateful that they were letting the three girls stay at their house for a while. She needed her girls close- not ready for another goodbye just yet. And so, they gathered on Anne's bed, snuggling the life out of each other as they waited patiently for the sleepless night to pass them by.

One thing that Sasha had completely forgotten about these cuddle sessions was just how damn hot it got. Apparently, having the body heat of two other people surrounding you functioned like a human oven. Despite her desire to not move and risk waking her friends up, the blonde knew she would have to do something about this if there was any chance of her getting some sleep. She slid the blanket down as far as far as it would go without yanking it from someone, and slowly moved her legs out from under it. The relief she felt was instant as the cool air hit her.

Though she had to make some small adjustments, Sasha soon discovered the perfect sleeping position. 'Hell yes. Just what I needed' she thought to herself as the pillows swallowed her whole. Just as sleep's sweet embrace was about to take her away, Sasha was once again disturbed- this time by a small, quiet voice.

"Psst, you still up, Sash?"

Ugh. She loved Marcy, but now was not the time for late night conversations. "Unfortunately," the blonde muttered into her pillow.

"Yeah, me too. Well, obviously, or else I wouldn't be talking to you right now, heh," the nerd rambled.

"Shhh, you'll wake up Anne. Just go to sleep Marce."

Marcy shifted slightly under the covers. "I... I can't."

"Count sheep."

"Tried that already. Got to 4,397, then I noticed you moving, and then I thought we could, I dunno... talk it out?"

"Listen Mar-Mar, on any other night I'd be happy to stay up til' morning with you and talk about whatever, but right now I'm a good twelve seconds away from passing out," Sasha mumbled, her eyes still closed and her voice thick with sleep.

A sad little whine came from Marcy's side of the bed. Oh no, she wasn't gonna let her friends' cuteness win this time.

"What, do you want a goodnight kiss or something?" Sasha huffed, shifting into a more comfortable position with her arm under the cool pillow. It was meant as a sarcastic jab in the midst of her exhausted agitation, but there was one very serious problem.

Marcy had that look on her face. The one that she always had when she wanted something but refused to communicate. As heavy as Sasha's eyelids were, there was no way she was just gonna let Marcy lie awake all night and stare at her like that.

"Alright, out with it," Sasha piped up, a little more stern than intended. Even through her tired state, she scolded herself inwardly- she would have to add patience to her list of things to work on.

There was an embarrassed squeak in response. "Sorry, sorry! It's just that I..." Marcy paused to squirm slightly in discomfort. "I don't... hate that idea?" She offered, pulling up the blanket to hide the lower half of her face.

Oh.

Sasha was wide awake now. Careful not to agitate her injured back, the blonde lifted herself onto her elbow. Any semblance of self control was tossed out the window as she leaned in and pressed her lips against Marcy's forehead. It lingered- maybe because of the sleep deprivation, or maybe because Sasha simply liked being there. In Marcy's space, providing her with some intimate comfort.

It couldn't last forever though; Sasha's aching body made sure to let her know that. She eventually pulled away, and even through the darkness, she could see brown eyes sparkling up at her. Cute. "Get some rest now, yeah? We had a long day, I'm sure you need it," Sasha whispered softly.

As Marcy opened her mouth to say something, she was cut off by a new voice. "You think I could get onea those, too?"

Surprised by the sudden interruption, both girls turned to face the source. Anne was gazing up at them, eyes wide with a curious glint.

Despite herself, Sasha gave her friend a soft chuckle. "Maybe if you ask nicely," she responded, already rolling over to face Anne.

Said friend nervously played with the fabric of their shared blanket. "...Please?"

"Please what, Anne?" Sasha asked, taking some enjoyment out of teasing her friend.

Anne grumbled. "You know..."

The blonde hovered over Anne, not missing how red her face was getting. "Hmm, do I? It must've slipped my mind. You're gonna have to be a big girl and use your words."

"Ugh, just kiss me already!"

At the demand, a devilish idea popped into Sasha's head. She smiled mischievously before lunging forward and connecting their lips. Sasha felt the vibrations of Anne's surprised squeak. Despite her shock, Anne made no effort to move away or push her off. In fact, Sasha could feel warm hands on her shoulders, almost keeping her in place.

Almost as quickly as it began, the kiss ended when Sasha pulled back. She took a moment to enjoy her view- Anne's lips were parted slightly and her eyes were lidded in a dazed expression, which quickly turned into exasperation.

"I meant on the forehead, Sash!" Anne scolded, her face a bright crimson.

Sasha threw her head back and laughed. "Well that's what you get for not being specific!" She shot back playfully, booping her friend's nose. Anne's grumpy blushy face was too cute to not do something about. Before she could convince herself not to, Sasha pulled herself back in to leave a quick peck on the brunette's forehead. "There. You happy now?"

"I'm not," Marcy protested from her spot under the covers. "No fair, Sashy. Anne gets two kisses? I want another one so we're even."

"You two are impossible," Sasha huffed, rolling her eyes as she flopped back onto the pillows.

"Aww," Marcy voiced sadly, causing a pang to be felt in Sasha's chest. Of course she wasn't actually gonna leave the nerd hanging, but it felt rewarding to get back at Marcy for keeping her up so late.

The blonde was about to give in when she heard Anne speak up. "Here Mar-Mar, if Sasha won't help you, I will," she announced as she sat up and scooted closer. Marcy grinned and excitedly did the same until Sasha's lying body was the only thing seperating them.

They came together so easily. Their hands immediately found one another and their fingers interlaced. Anne's other hand came up to push a strand of hair out of Marcy's face, and settled to cup her cheek. They both surged forward at the same time, meeting in the middle for a sweet kiss.

Sasha, unfortunately (or fortunately- she wasn't sure yet) was caught in the middle. Peeking up at her friends, the sight made her stomach flip. She wasn't sure if it was respectful to watch, but her eyes were glued. It was strange- shouldn't she feel jealous? Maybe she would have if something like this happened before their adventure, but now she took in the scene eagerly, feeling her face grow warmer by the second.

Both Anne and Marcy's faces were dusted red. Marcy's hand snaked up to the small of Anne's back, her tiny hand gripping the fabric of her night shirt. Anne eventually began to pull away, only for Marcy to chase after her for a brief second. When they finally parted, their heads softly bumped together and they wore matching dopey smiles.

Definately fortunate, Sasha decided. Whether she liked it or not, this sweet memory was now permanently engraved in her brain.

"Wow," Anne breathed lamely as Marcy giggled and placed another chaste kiss on the corner of her mouth.

"Thanks, Anna-Banana," Marcy whispered against her cheek.

Anne chuckled nervously. "No problem, dude. Sasha has no idea what she's missing out on," she teased, looking down at said friend with a shit eating grin.

Sasha's eyes narrowed in determination. "Alright, enough is enough! C'mere, nerd," the blonde commanded as she pulled Marcy away from Anne's grasp and on top of her. Marcy gasped softly, still processing what was happening until bam- Sasha pulled her into a deep kiss.

Damn, Marcy's lips were soft. Anne's were too, but while that kiss was short lived, Sasha made sure to savor this one. Strong hands threaded through raven hair, and gently massaged the scalp underneath. The effect was instant; Marcy's body went slack as she melted into her friend.

The injury on Sasha's back just had to kill the moment. The pressure irritated her, causing her to grunt in pain. Marcy must've realized this, because she shot back up and immediately got off.

"Oh geez, I'm so sorry Sasha!" Marcy apologized with a concerned look. Tears gathered in her eyes, threatening to spill as she avoided Sasha's gaze.

"Hey, hey, it's not your fault, okay?" Sasha reassured as she sat up and draped an arm over Marcy's small form. Anne was quick to follow up with a hug of her own on the other side.

Marcy sniffled. "That's the thing, Sash- it is my fault. If I weren't so selfish, you wouldn't have gotten hurt. Anne wouldn'tve... wouldn'tve-" a choked sob interrupted that thought.

"Shhh, it's okay, Marbles. We're safe now. We're together," Anne whispered as she rubbed soothing circles into Marcy's back. At least for tonight.

The three girls held each other as Marcy cried. Eventually, her breath steadied enough for her to speak clearly. "I was so sure you two would hate me. Having you here with me, kissing me even... it almost doesn't feel real. I definitely don't deserve it," Marcy lamented.

"Hey, we already forgave you. We all did some stupid stuff, but what matters is we change," Sasha explained, her voice a quiet whisper. "I hurt you too. Both of you. And I promise I'm going to be a better friend, no matter what." She cemented her point by tilting Marcy's chin up towards her, and placing one more light peck on her tear stained lips.

Sasha's hand came up to cup Marcy's face, and she wiped away some stray tears with her warm thumb. Marcy could only lean into the touch. "And if that means staying up late to give you two goodnight kisses, so be it. I'll give you all the kisses you could ever want," Sasha promised, not caring about what all of this meant. Surely it was normal for friends to kiss each other like this, right?

Her contemplative thoughts were put on hold as Sasha's eyes met Anne's. The brunette was smiling fondly at her. "I'm so proud of you two. We have a lot to talk about, but let's pick this conversation back up in the morning, hmm?"

One last sniffle filled the air before Marcy smiled and nodded. "Thanks, guys. I love you," the words slipped out before Marcy had the chance to stop and think about what she was saying. Ah, who cares- she meant them, and she was done hiding.

Marcy's confession was met with a pair of soft giggles. "We love you too, Mar-Mar," Sasha murmured in Marcy's ear. Blue eyes flicked over to meet Anne's. Sasha smirked and raised an eyebrow, a silent question.

Anne stared at her for a second, until her eyes widened in realization. She gave the blonde a small, enthusiastic nod. The two girls leaned forward and pressed soft kisses into Marcy's cheeks at the same time, causing the smaller girl's brain to short circuit.

As Sasha pulled away, she gently ruffled Marcy's dark hair. "Now, I did what you two wanted, now it's your turn to do what I want; cuddles and sleep."

The request was met with no objections as the girls settled back into bed. Marcy was in the middle this time, which Sasha had no issues with. Less body heat, and less risk of one of the girls accidentally bumping her irritated back. Plus, she was still able to hold onto Anne with her arm draped over Marcy's body. Sasha held her girls close, her heart swelling as they finally, finally drifted off in each others arms.

In their case, maybe it was a little gay to give the homies goodnight kisses.
