Kiyoomi loves storms.
He likes to feel the deep rumbling of thunder. The sounds of raindrops hitting the roof could put him right to sleep. He will often watch out the windows to see lightning strike, beautiful and bright.
Atsumu hates storms.
They bring him a lot of anxiety. The loud noises of the rain and the thunder make him want to bury himself under every blanket he can find.
Today, it happened to be storming. Kiyoomi was about to start fixing up dinner when he heard the unmistakable crack of thunder. He quickly put down what he was doing and headed to his room. As he expected, he was met by a lump under the covers. He gently lifted up one side and saw Atsumu curled up, covering his ears.
“Do you want me to get your headphones, love?” Atsumu softly nodded. Atsumu wore them a lot so Kiyoomi knew the drill. It wasn’t just storms, any loud noises stressed Atsumu out. Kiyoomi quickly returned and handed the headphones to his boyfriend. “Would you like some company?” Atsumu sat up and nodded again so Kiyoomi got under the covers and slid over to his boyfriend. Atsumu immediately cuddled into his chest while Kiyoomi played with his hair.
“It’s going to be okay, Atsu.”
“I know, thank you Omi.”
Atsumu felt at peace in the arms of the man he loved. They spent most of the evening in bed until the storm died down.
“Are you hungry? I was about to make some food,” Kiyoomi said.
“Yeah, a little bit. I’m sorry I pulled ya away from making food. And I’m sorry ya have to deal with this every time it storms. You’d think a grown man like me could handle a little rain.”
All of Atsumu’s anxious thoughts were going to spill out of his brain if Kiyoomi didn’t do something. He gently grabbed Atsumu’s cheeks and pressed their foreheads together. “Hey, hey, it’s okay, Atsu. You know that I will always be here for you. Your fears don’t make you any less of a man.” He pulled Atsumu in for a kiss. “Now, let’s go make some dinner, okay?” “Making dinner” really meant that Kiyoomi was going to make it and Atsumu was going to hug his waist from behind. He didn’t mind though.
