“Y’know Sunny, it’s been awhile since I stayed at your house, and you’re moving away. What if we had a sleepover? For old times sake!”
Kel smiled from his place in the living room. Sunny had almost drowned a few hours earlier and definitely was not in the mood to be alone tonight.
So…..
Sunny nodded.
“Cool! I’ll ask my mom! I doubt she’ll care.”
Kel got up and went upstairs.
….
He came running back down.
“Let’s go Sunny!”
Sunny led them out of the Kel’s house and walked next door to his own. He opened the door and stood aside the carpet in the living room.
“Wow! This place is really cleared out,” Kel looked around in awe.
He went on about how everything has changed. Their final stop was the piano room, where they both stood in silence. It finally got dark, and Kel ran out to get some blankets and pillows.
Sunny stood there in front of the piano. It’s almost like he could hear her playing….
He quickly exited the area and went to his room. He found Kel in a mix of pillows and blankets, smiling sheepishly on the floor.
“I tried to make a pillow fort for us… I wish I could make them as well as my brother.
Sunny sighed quietly. He didn’t know how to make one either, and he was too tired to try.
Sunny instead went over to his bed and sat down. Looks like they were going to share, not that Sunny minded.
He patted the spot next to him.
Kel sat for a moment, confused, before realization spread across his face.
“You wanna share?!”
Sunny shrugged.
Kel blushed furiously, but got up and sat next to Sunny regardless.
It was awkward for a minute. This bed was tiny. Not that Sunny minded.
“…Well, it’s late. We should get comfortable.”
Kel laid down, leaving enough room so Sunny could do the same next to him. It was really uncomfortable. Kel was a big guy, with all the physical activity he did he was bound to get some muscle while Sunny was away, not to mention he had a major growth spurt in 4 years. There was no room.
Sunny began to think this was one of his bad ideas, when Kel shifted.
“Can I…”
Kel wrapped his arms around Sunny’s waist, effectively spooning him.
Sunny did not expect that.
Words could not describe the happiness bubbling inside his stomach. He was giddy, but his face didn’t show it.
Kel smiled nervously.
“Is this ok?”
“..mmn..”
Sunny answered by turning around and nuzzling his face into Kel’s neck. He exhaled comfortably.
Kel had no words.
This was truly bliss. Kel didn’t expect to ever do this with Sunny. Ever. He just expected to swallow his feelings.
Time to make the most of this.
Kel pulled him closer, hesitantly resting his cheeks on top of Sunny’s head.
Sunny smiled. And it was visible! He hadn’t been this happy in a long time.
He hugged Kel back, tangling their legs together. Now this was comfortable.
They both relaxed into each other’s arms in silence.
So peaceful….
“Well… goodnight, Sunny.”
“…goodnight…”
Kel’s breath lightly faltered. That voice. That beautiful voice he rarely heard.
That’s what made it all the more special.
