Work Text:
Suzu tried her best in school, she really did. Though, it still had been a relief when she found out the answer key for her upcoming test. Now here she was, slowly making her way to the side of the school, it'd be a surprise when Eri had come up to her and muttered something out about the test key she had, must have overheard her when she was talking with some her friends about it.
Tilting her head, Suzu studied the girl in front of her, dark hair falling on her face, eyes downcast and just the beginning of a faint blush dusted across her face. With a smirk, Suzu leaned in so she could whisper in the girl's ear.
"Mmm, why not? I don't mind doing a favor for a pretty girl like you. Meet me at the side of the building this Friday, by that cherry blossom tree. Make sure to bring some form of payment, I don't do things like this for free, sound alright?" She had whispered in Eri's ear before pulling back with a small laugh, she winked at the girl before spinning on her heels and disappearing down the corridor without looking back.
If she had looked back, she would've seen Eri gazing at her, blushing tenfold as she reached her hand up to brush against the spot Suzu's breath warmed the skin. No, instead she'd disappeared, chuckling to herself.
She shivered as a gust of wind ruffled her short hair, chilling her, she loved it though, winter had always been her favorite season, or perhaps it was early spring, she adored watching the flowers bloom, after all. It was already darkening outside, even though it was still fairly early in the day, her fingers tapped against her phone without her permission, she'd taken pictures of the key.
Now, Suzu knew that she was late, but somehow all of her normal afterschool preparations had taken extra long, she had to ask one of her professors a question, then her friend needed help finding their science book, and for some reason, she was flagged down by some club to take some survey. It really was a funny thing, as those things rarely ever happened, though she wasn't fond of the idea of making Eri wait, she could afford to. The girl wouldn't leave, not when she had the test answers.
The girl was well-liked enough, and Suzu thought that she was on some sports team. The girl shared quite a few classes with Suzu, not just science, the one with the corresponding test. For someone so well-liked Suzu couldn't help but notice how little makeup the girl wore, all accessories really, opposite of Suzu really. She couldn't remember a day she didn't have black eyeliner accenting her green eyes and some form of lipstick on, her earrings in, one on her right and two on her left, even if the top one was just a stud.
It was admirable that the black-haired girl stuck with her appearance, even if it wasn't what one would think was a popular choice. The girl was pretty, in a soft sort of way that Suzu couldn't help but be intrigued by. Suzu was never one to really branch out from her small circle of friends, her parents complained about it all the time, especially since she's gotten in trouble more than once messing around with her friends. Her reputation was associated with the so-called bad crowd, but she couldn't care less, except, a small part of her hoped that Eri would be able to forget that when they met.
Which probably wouldn't happen, even more so since someone that followed the rules precisely would be able to get their hands on the key. She couldn't help but be a little bit excited to meet with Eri, the girl wasn't someone she'd ever seen herself associating with, so it was a pleasant change for her. It wasn't like she help herself not being curious about the whole situation, it was an interesting one for sure.
Suzu wasn't that interested in the prospect of selling the key, but it wasn't like she was against it, plus it meant she got something out of it. But, when Eri had asked, the blush growing the longer she talked, her voice was soft as a feather... The girl had seemed genuinely embarrassed when asking her, which couldn't help but amuse her. Who was Suzu to deny her such a thing, it wasn't like she hadn't already made a bit with the money her friends gave her for the key? Though there was a difference between her friends and Eri, someone Suzu wasn't sure that she'd even had a full conversation with.
But, that was going to change in a few minutes. She wondered if Eri really was that bad at science, Suzu was sure that this was the dark-haired girl's last option, she must have tried extra classes, exercises, practiced with friends, and maybe even a tutor, but it really must have been to no avail for her to come to Suzu. Maybe overhearing her friend complain, quite loudly, that Suzu was being a heartless bitch for not sharing the key with them was her opportunity to not fail.
At the time she'd spat at her friends, practically hissing at them to quiet down before they alerted anyone. Now though, she was maybe even grateful for their terrible filter and god-awful volume control. After all, it'd given her this wonderful opportunity.
The tree that she'd told Eri to meet up with her at was slowly starting to come into view, or well, at least the bend that it was around. She could hear her footsteps ringing out against the quiet area, her lips twitched up into a smile, it must've been worrisome whenever someone walked over here for poor Eri. Though, she supposed, that by now there were very few people still at the campus.
It'd taken quite a while to finish up before trekking across the school to the meeting spot after all, so hopefully, Eri wouldn't be too jittery when she got there. It was a Friday, and Suzu was glad that she had picked it, people would be even more eager to leave school. A perfect day really for this, no one would bother them, Suzu was sure of it, and she was often right.
Suzu pulled out her phone, slowly pacing only slightly, she really was late, by quite a bit. Eri must be wondering by now if she was even going to show up. She was going to show through, she had no intention to make a fool out of the girl. Humming she speed up, nearing the bend as she slipped her phone back into her pocket, she wondered how much Eri had prepared for her. It'd give her a clue about how desperate the girl was.
Time seemed to be slowing down as she spun around the corner, breathing heavier than normal. Eri's head snapped up, Suzu met her gaze and flashed a smile, the girl had her bag slung over her shoulder and looked like she was just about to leave. Her necklace thumped against her well, honestly, fairly exposed chest, her own fault for wearing a low-cut shirt that was more revealing than she normally went with, as she tried to catch her breath, leaning forwards and sliding against the wall next to Eri as nonchalantly as she could.
"You're late," Eri stated, dropping her bag to the ground. She sounded irritated, and Suzu didn't blame her. "By like, a lot."
"Rude!" Suzu whined, pouting at the other girl as she pulled out her phone, she kept it by her side as she looked Eri up and down. The girl's hair was pulled back into a loose braid, thrown over her shoulder casually. Suzu sometimes wished she had longer hair so she could style it with more options, but she never got around to growing it out, she'd always cut it after a bit. "That's not a way to greet people, right hun?"
Suzu smirked as she saw Eri's face heat up, even though she was shorter than the other girl, not by much though, it tickled her how much she was in control of the whole conversation. She was intimidating, flustering the girl even, something far more amusing than she could've imagined. Aside from when she'd agreed to do a favor for the girl, she'd never really been this close to the girl.
Eri huffed, and Suzu knew that she was right. Even if she had shown up incredibly late, not even bothering to tell her that she was going to be late, though, in her defense, she didn't know that she was going to be so late. She had planned on showing up a few minutes late though, just to make the girl squirm for a bit. Eri had the right to be upset at her, even if Suzu would rather bitch about it and complain that it wasn't her fault.
"You could've at least told me," Eri muttered, shuffling her feet.
It's not like I knew I was going to be late, was at the tip of her tongue. Instead, she merely hummed, "Now where's the fun in that darling." She studied the girl, smiling when the girl flushed even more at the affectionate nickname. Her friends had gotten desensitized to it, so it was fun to be with some she got such a reaction out of.
"Well, you could've at least messaged me!" Eri complained, glaring at Suzu.
"Does it look like I have your number?" Suzu scoffed.
"I know you have my Twitter, and I messaged you like, ten times on there!" Eri shoved her hands into her pocket, pulling out a lighter and a cigarette after a bit more of rummaging. Suzu's gaze darkened, Eri was taking her attention off her, and she'd never been fond of smoking either. Frowning she watched the girl place it in her mouth, she knew that girl smoked, but still... Leaning forwards she got in Eri's face, the girl's eyes widened, and Suzu huffed as the cigarette flicked her nose.
Not really thinking she grasped the cigarette in between her teeth before she pulled away, snatching the lighter out of Eri's hand. She sighed and leaned back against the wall, tilting her head to get a better look at Eri.
"You mind?" Suzu chirped, blinking at the dark-haired girl innocently. Like they just hadn't been having a borderline argument, she had got the girl off guard, as Eri was merely staring at her blankly, completely taken aback by the surprising action.
"That'd what I thought." Suzu laughed before she lit the cigarette up, she ignored how it burned, trying her best to ignore the smoke that was slowly filling up the area, causing Eri to cough softly. She looked down at her phone and opened up Twitter, rolling her eyes at Eri's messages that she'd missed.
For a good moment or so the two of them just stood there, Suzu locked her phone and they just looked at each other, she scoffed, taking the cigarette out of her mouth briefly, she knew that her gaze was intense, she wanted to figure what Eri was going to do, Suzu wasn't quite sure how she felt about the girl. Amused, definitely, irritated at her, a bit, interest, for sure. She put the cigarette in her mouth again and moved into a similar position that she'd been in when she first took the cigarette.
A bit further away though, she didn't want to put the light cigarette so close to someone's face, taking it back out again she leaned back, her hand moving on the wall to rest against where Eri's heart beat awfully fast. She pulled back quickly though, humming contently, fiddling with the cigarette, gently blowing a little bit of smoke into Eri's face before she properly exhaled.
"Did you bring the key with you?" Eri broke the silence between, her voice soft, similarly to when she'd first asked to meet with Suzu. The green-eyed girl hummed in response to the question, removing the cigarette to speak without being muffled.
"Something like that I suppose. Why? Is a pretty thing like you really that nervous?" Suzu teased.
Eri ignored her, muttering something Suzu didn't quite catch before they fell into silence, once again.
She wondered what was taking Eri so long to get to the point, she was the one that wanted something from her, she could at least ask for it. Suzu wasn't going to do all the work, and have Eri do what, just have to ask her for the meeting, no, that's not it was going to work. Why couldn't she just ask for the key already? Instead she just stood there, trying her best to avoid Suzu's smirking face and stare that she was sure was burning into the girl by now.
"Are you going to give it to me then, or..." Eri shifted against the wall, catching Suzu's attention as she'd begun to space out a bit.
"Mhmm." She responded, exhaling a trail of smoke and watching it float up into the sky. Eri's hair shone softly in the fading light, she kept watching the girl, waiting for her to continue. The girl wasn't shy or anything like that, no reason for her not to use her own words to ask. Maybe it was her own fault for not stating a particular price, it could've perhaps gone quicker if she did that. Maybe she shouldn't have been so difficult, but no, she loved being difficult.
After a moment of watching Eri hesitate, the girl reached into her pockets. Suzu was sure that she'd figured out that she was going to be difficult, and a bit bitchy about the whole ordeal, it surprised Suzu how long it took her to figure that out. Her eyes caught a slip of green starting to emerge from the pocket, she slid the cigarette between her fingers and swatted Eri's hand away from her pocket.
"Nah, don't do that." She sighed, closing her eyes as she leaned against the wall, waving her hand dismissively.
"Why... Not?" The dark-haired girl looked even more confused that before.
"I never specified how I want to be paid..." Suzu murmured softly, yawning, titling to look at Eri through lidded eyes. The girl looked at her in disbelief. "Smart of you to bring money though hun, I nearly decided on that."
"Then what do you want then?" Eri managed out, Suzu knew she was pushing the limit, the girl would be ready to leave in a heartbeat if Suzu put her through any more bullshit. Suzu hummed, she was never good at getting to the point though.
"You smoke," Suzu phrased it as a statement, not giving Eri a chance to agree. "Such a stupid thing to do you know, I can't believe a sweetie like you could like such a thing."
"What does that have to do with anything?" Eri's lips were parted in confusion, eyes widening in surprise.
"You want the key or not?" Suzu snapped irritably, her tone growing darker as she stepped closer to Eri, trapping her against the wall and herself, it wasn't like the other times, Suzu glared at the girl, pressing her against the wall forcefully.
"Yeah, I do..." Eri muttered out, turning her head to the side and lowering her head. Suzu scoffed, the girl wasn't even able to meet her gaze head-on, and because of all of the smoke. She pressed herself closer, annoyingly so, her hand shot out and grabbed Eri's jaw roughly, making a small tsk of disapproval. Suzu knew that Eri probably wasn't in the mood to continue chatting when all she wanted was the test answers, wanted it to be over even. Though as she watched Eri's glaring face grow red, Suzu didn't want it to end just yet.
"Then..." Suzu shifted positions, dropping her hand not gripping Eri's chin from the wall to pull the cigarette out of her mouth, she watched as the smoke lazily left her own parted mouth, and she made sure Eri was still watching her, the dark harried girl bit her lip.
"I want all of your cigarettes, and, I don't want to see you smoking them for at least a month after the test is done, including the time until then." Suzu leaned in, further. "I'll know if you do it, darling, you shouldn't underestimate me, hun." She whispered, close enough that her breath tickled Eri's chin.
"I do it and then the key's mine?" Eri's question in uneven breaths. She looked at Suzu, the brown-harried girl's smirk widened and she nodded. The girl was a smoker that was one thing for sure, and Suzu wanted to take something away from her.
"Are there... Any other options?" Eri managed out
Suzu hummed, considering the other possibilities, then her eyes flickered down and she had an idea, the corners of her mouth turning up slightly, she relished in the whole situation, her eyes darkening.
"A kiss, perhaps?" She practically purred.
Eri stared at her like she was waiting for Suzu to say that she was joking around, but as she realized that Suzu was deadly serious about her counter-offer. Suzu watched as the girl beneath her came to that realization, Eri managed to fluster even more, and Suzu was sure that the girl noticed how close they were, probably overwhelmingly for the girl, Suzu had noticed their positions.
A kiss? Hmm, it wasn't a bad offer in her mind.
Though she was sure that Eri's mind was a total mess, probably wondering if Suzu wanted to humiliate her or something. Was it a better deal than giving up smoking for a month and a half or so, giving up her whole collection as well? Suzu was confident that she was attractive, she'd gotten many offers in the past, taking up a few even, not that she really wanted to admit it, but she had dolled up a bit for the meeting. Eri wasn't too bad herself either...
"I don't have all day, you know, deary?" Suzu yawned, her mouth parting slightly, she caught Eri's gaze darting towards her mouth and she had to stifle a giggle.
"You were the one that was late, not me." Eri got out, Suzu could see how the girl's mind was clouded over with thoughts of how many possible scenarios could unfold, Suzu would be lying if she wasn't doing the same.
Suzu knew for a fact that would be the girl's first kiss, it had gotten around that the girl had never been involved with anyone before. Suzu wondered if Eri would deny it because first kisses were supposed to be with someone special. Suzu didn't think that she would've minded if this would have to be her first kiss, it'd have more feelings than her first one. She and her friend had used to mess around, under the prospect of not making a fool out of themselves if they were to ever make a move or have someone make a move on them. It'd worked, and Suzu would do it again, but it was her friend, not someone she liked, not even a potential partner.
"Have you made your choice yet? Or should I just leave you here, hmm? She asked, tilting her head once more, clicking her tongue. Bits of brown hair fell in front of her piercing eyes.
She could feel Eri's heart beating terrible fast, Suzu bet that Eri thought that both options were terrible, but still, falling out of a class would be the worst one of them all, the dark harried girl would have to make her decision before Suzu ran out of patience and was no longer amused by the encounter.
"I'll... I'll give up the cigarettes." She murmured, disappointment flashing in her eyes, even if it was just for a second. Suzu didn't say anything, placing the stolen cigarette back in her mouth, edging closer to Eri. The girl looked pained, "Could I try it one last time, you haven't even me the key yet..."
Suzu thought about it, then she shrugged, it could be her apology for being so late. Lifting it back out of her mouth and spinning it around like she'd seen her friends do time upon time, herself only occasionally, she brought it up to the girl's mouth. Eri stood tense, her breaths were weak and varying, unsteady even, Suzu supposed that she was preparing herself for the last bit of nicotine for a while. She could feel the girl's heart practically jump underneath her, beating fast, pacing being picked up by her other hand.
Sighing, Suzu gripped the girl's chin once more, bringing her hand up that was previously resting against the girls rapidly beating heart. Her eyes were half-lidded, her gaze focused on Eri. Curiously, Suzu slowly traced her thumb against the girl's lower lip, pressing on it softly to make Eri part her mouth, making the girl gasp quietly. The girl's eyes were shut tightly, her body shaking.
Maybe kissing me would've been the better option, you wouldn't have to say goodbye to something you like so much.
It must've been awful to have to say goodbye to something one likes too much, Suzu didn't think that she would've been able to do it. Suzu slipped the cigarette between the girl's lips, and Eri relaxed, sighing slightly. Suzu didn't let it go on for much longer though, she snatched it back from Eri not even three minutes later, Suzu started to pull away, looking down at the cigarette in between her fingers.
"Wait! I don't want to do it, I want to keep the cigarettes." Eri rushed to say. The shorter girl rolled her eyes in annoyance and spun around, though the dark-haired girl was desperate enough to grab onto her wrist. Suzu's eyes widened in surprise, though only for a split second did they go back to normal, she hummed, pausing in her tracks
"Kiss, kiss me, Suzu." Eri breathed out eyes large. "Just kiss me, please, I-, I prefer the kiss-"
"Oh?" Suzu spun back around, a little cocky smile appearing on her face. "Not going to give up cigarettes?"
Eri just shook her head slightly if a bit rushed.
"Such a shame, I thought you had a bit of self-control." Suzu sighed, looking Eri up and down with forced disdain. "That would've been interesting if you'd gone through with it."
"Though, I guess that this..." Suzu whispered, pushing Eri against the wall, the girl letting out a small gasp. "...Will have to do for now."
Without giving the girl any more time to rethink her decision, Suzu had closed the gap that had previously been between them, delicately fitting their lips together, kissing the girl slowly. Said girl was stunned, returning the kiss as her mind caught up with reality and what was happening.
It was softer than Suzu had expected, far from what she had thought of it feeling, but it was in the best way possible. The touch of Eri's lips was pleasant, bewitching even, a lovely warmth emitted from them. A wave of heat ran through her body, spine-tingling as Eri sighed against her when Suzu pressed her further against the wall. One of her hands moved up, undoing Eri's braid, it came undone easily, as the dark-haired girl hadn't used a hair tie or anything like that to keep it up. She deepened the kiss, pressing their bodies even closer together, gripping Eri's waist tightly as she slipped a knee between the girl's legs. The taller girl gasped softly, when the girl parted her lips, Suzu took it as a chance to slide her tongue inside, causing Eri to hum softly in pleasure, making a squeaking sound as Suzu tugged on her long hair.
Suzu couldn't help but notice that it felt good, so right, their lips finding a perfect rhythm together as Suzu's tongue prodded around in Eri's mouth. At the same time, it felt just oh so sinful, a little forbidden even. Like it was their little dirty secret, that they both now had to keep. It was just them, and nothing else quite mattered at the moment. Suzu quickened the pace, and Eri started to stumble, struggling to keep up with the brown-haired girl. Eri's squeak trailed off into something else as she went slack against the wall, relying on Suzu to keep her up for the most part.
Soon enough though, it was over, Suzu had pulled away slightly, and a thin line of saliva kept their lips connected as they caught their breath. Suzu watched Eri, the girl's face flushed amusingly so.
"See, now that wasn't so bad, now was it?" Suzu was the first one to speak up, her voice a mere whisper, husky even from everything.
Eri looked like she wanted to say something, but she was left speechless, and Suzu watched in amusement as a dark blush spread across her face. Suzu had accepted what had happened, but it looked like Eri was yet to catch up. It really was a situation no one would ever think to find themselves in, Suzu was close enough to hear the girl's heart beating like crazy, though she could've figured that out without having to be so close anyway. The poor girl still seemed unable to steady her breathing pattern.
"Hey," Suzu snapped her fingers in front of Eri's face, trying to get the girl's attention, she had gotten out a small piece of paper as well as her phone. The taller girl shook her head slightly, trying to snap out of her thoughts. "You there?"
"Uh, yeah... Is that?" Eri managed to get out, still blushing.
"Sort of," Suzu unlocked her phone, sending the pictures of the key to Eri. "Check Twitter. I always keep my word, don't worry. We're equal now."
She shoved the piece of paper into Eri's hand, expression unreadable, and just like, Suzu spun around on her heels, heading towards the bend. Suzu was tired, she wanted to sleep, maybe find a book and make herself a cup of tea... She had a good selection, perhaps she'd go with a rose earl grey, that sounded good to her.
"Hey-" Eri fiddled with the paper in her hand. She followed Suzu with her gaze, surprised to see that she was leaving so soon. Suzu sighed and quickened her pace, shaking her head slightly.
"I'll see you Monday, honey." And just like that, Suzu had disappeared around the bend after placing the cigarette between her lips, she wasn't going to be wasteful, leaving a rather distressed Eri behind. Eri blinked after the girl, attempting to collect her thoughts and properly comprehend the previous events that had happened.
She'd gotten what she'd wanted though, right? She had the test answers, fishing for her phone, and she double-checked.
Slowly, she eyed up the pictures, skimming through the answers and questions. It blended together into a big sea of jumbled-up letters, but Eri was confident in her ability to learn and make sense of them. As long as she messed up a few no one would really suspect anything. Or at least, she shouldn't.
Though, she looked down at the paper, curious at why Suzu had given her a piece of paper when she'd already sent the key to her. Squinting, she was a trail of numbers and a little note in small, neat handwriting, Just in case you need me again honey with a small heart next to it. Eri could feel her heart sink in her chest, face growing impossibly read once again.
She involuntarily moved her head up to her lips, remembering Suzu's own pair pressed up against them, realizing that just maybe, choosing the kiss had been the bad decision out of her two options. Suzu's lips seemed to be far more addicting than the cigarettes she adored.
Somewhere else Suzu had the same thought, though she thought it was much better than cigarettes. Who could've known that's how the favor Suzu had done would've worked out. After all, she never would've thought that Eri's lips could've been more addictive than the terrible cigarettes.
