Work Text:
"Hey, Bakugou!" Kirishima ran towards the blonde haired boy.
Bakugou didn't answer, he simply walked slow enough for Kirishima to catch up.
The school day was over, and they were headed to the dorms. The sun was setting.
"Hero training was tough today, huh?" Kirishima said.
"Not at all. You're just weak." Bakugou grumbled.
Kirishima threw his arm over Bakugou's shoulders. "Yeah, and you're so manly." He joked.
"Hey got any plans tomorrow?" Kirishima asked.
"We have school, why would I make plans?" Bakugou said.
"I don't know, man. Never know what you're up to." Kirishima chuckled. "Anyways, during class I heard Jirou talking about this meteor shower thing happening tomorrow. I thought it sounded pretty cool so, do you wanna sneak out to ground beta and watch it? We can get snacks and a blanket to sit on. And we can-"
"Oh my god shut up!" Bakugou let loose a couple of mini explosions in Kirishima's face. "I'll go if you just stop talking." He said.
Kirishima smiled. "Alright, man! Can't wait." He said.
The bell rung and the students of class 1-A filed out of the classroom for lunch.
"Kirishima?" A high pitched voice said behind Kirishima.
He turned around to see Mina and Ochako standing behind him.
"Oh, hey, guys." He said.
"A group of us were heading to the movies tonight. Do you want to go with us?" Ochako asked.
"Thanks for the offer, but I already have plans with Bakugou tonight." Kirishima smiled.
Mina and Ochako looked at each other with faces of confusion.
"Um, Kirishima? Bakugou said he's going to the movies tonight." Mina said.
"What?" Kirishima asked.
"Yeah, Deku asked him." Ochako said.
"Yeah, us, Midoriya, Todoroki, Bakugou, Tsu, Kaminari, Sero, we even convinced Iida to go." Mina chuckled.
Kirishimas smile dropped and his shoulders slumped. "Oh, he must've said something and I didn't hear him." Kirishima said nonchalantly.
"I'll see you guys in class." He smiled and walked out of the classroom.
He knows Bakugou never told him about the movies.
He waited in the lunch line, on his phone. There were no missed messages from Bakugou, no voicemails.
Was he really just gonna ditch Kirishima like that?
"Hey, shitty hair." Bakugou stood next to Kirishima.
"I said hey, shitty hair." Bakugou said a little louder.
Kirishima ignored him again.
Bakugou scoffed before pushing Kirishimas shoulder a bit. "Don't ignore me, loser." He said.
"Don't cancel our plans without telling me." Kirishima said in a low voice.
"What are you talking about?" Bakugou said.
"You told Midoriya you'd go with him to the movies tonight? We were gonna go to ground beta, man!" Kirishima said.
"Movies with Deku, what?" Bakugou said.
"Whatever, Man. Don't play dumb with me." Kirishima said.
"I'm not. I didn't make any plans with Deku or anyone else tonight." Bakugou said.
"... Well that's not what I heard." Kirishima said.
He walked away without getting lunch.
“Deku!” Explosions rang through the hallway.
“Oh, hey, Kaccha-AANN!” Deku yelled as Bakugou held large explosions to his face.
“Ah! What’re you doing!?” He yelled.
“Why are you going around telling people I’m going to the movies with a group of extras?” Bakugou yelled.
“Because you said you’d go!” Deku pushed Bakugou back. “Now get away from me, Kacchan.” He furrowed his brows.
“When did I tell you that?” Bakugou asked.
“Yesterday? When I asked you?” Deku said.
Bakugou looked clueless.
“In the dorms last night. We were all planning it and you came down for a drink. We all kept asking you to go and you said, and I quote, “I’ll go if you just stop talking.”” Deku said.
“Well, I’m canceling. I’ve got more important plans than hanging with you fuckers.” Bakugou said.
“That’s fine, Kacchan. Just say that next time instead of trying to kill me.” Deku said.
Bakugou scowled. “Where the closest store that’s open this late?” He asked.
“Theres one a couple blocks off campus.” Deku said.
“Thanks.” Bakugou started walking away.
“Hey, what’re your plans tonight?” Deku called out.
“Some meteor shower thing with Kirishima.” Bakugou said.
“Meteor shower?” Deku said to himself quietly. “I think he said something about that to me..” He said.
“Yeah, well, now he’s pissed at me because I made plans with you by accident.” Bakugou said.
“Well, go make it right, Kacchan.” Deku smiled his annoyingly joyful smile before letting Bakugou walk away.
Bakugou sat on the roof of one of the buildings at ground beta. He kept refreshing his messages, waiting for Kirishimas reply.
Kirishima was in his dorm room. He was reading through a manga, acknowledging that he had messages, but not looking at them.
A knock at the door drew his attention from the book in his hands.
“Oh, hey, Midoriya.” He answered the door.
“Kirishima? You’re in here? I thought you had plans with Kacchan tonight.” Midoriya asked.
“Yeah, I did, but then he made plans to go to the movies with you guys without telling me.” Kirishima slumped a bit.
“He told me earlier he wasn’t going because his plans with you were more important.” Midoriya said.
Kirishimas eyes peeked up. “More important?” He asked.
Midoriya nodded his head. “Try getting ahold of him. I think he wants to make up.” Midoriya said.
“Thanks, man.” Kirishima said goodbye and closed the door.
He pulled out his phone, and finally saw the messages.
Bakugou
Hey, come to ground beta
Kirishima?? Are you coming?
Look I know I messed up but I’m at ground beta, aren’t I?
*Audio Message*
Kirishima was a little surprised. He pressed the play button on the audio.
“I got those stupid chips you like,” he heard a bag of chips crinkle on the other side. “and I got some energy drinks, the pina colada kind you like.”
There was a small pause.
“Look, it was wrong of me to make plans with Deku when I already had plans with you. I just want to say I’m sorry, and it won’t happen again. Anyways, come to ground beta, loser. Before this meteor thing starts.” The message ended.
Kirishima couldn’t help but smile at his phone listening to the message.
He look at the time the message was sent, and the time it was now.
“Crap, half an hour!? That’s how long it took me to look at my phone!?” He said to himself.
He threw a sweatshirt on and was trying to get his shoes on as he ran out of the dormitories.
He took off running towards ground beta.
Kirishima ran through the streets, looking for the building that Bakugou told him about in a message.
“Man, Bakugou, all these buildings look the same!” He said to himself.
“Kirishima?” Kirishima heard a raspy voice yell from behind him.
He turned around and saw Bakugou. A bag of snacks and drinks in one hand, and a blanket in the other. “I was just heading back to the dorms-“
“Bakugou!” Kirishima ran towards him.
“Look, man..” Kirishima paused. “If- if you’d rather make plans with Midoriya and everyone else, that’s fine with me. I get it. You’ve known Midoriya since you were kids. You can hang out with him instead. It’s okay.” Kirishima said with his head down.
Bakugou walked closer to him. “Shitty hair.” He said. He threw the blanket over his shoulder and reached out, placing his hand on top of Kirishimas head.
“I walked twenty five minutes too and from a store for your favourite snacks. Dekus estimation of distance is shit. I climbed the stairs of ten buildings just to find the rooftop with the perfect view. I wouldn’t do this for Deku if the dumbass paid me.” Bakugou moved his hand to Kirishima’s cheek.
“I did this for you, Ejirou.” He said.
“And I… I stood you up like an asshole.” Kirishima said.
“I canceled plans without telling you. By accident or not, I’m the asshole in this situation.” Bakugou said.
Kirishima looked up at him and smiled sheepishly.
“So, do you wanna go watch this meteor shower or not?” Bakugou rubbed his thumb against Kirishima’s cheek.
“Yeah. Yeah, let go.” Kirishima reached up and grabbed Bakugous hand.
“Which one of these buildings did you pick?” He held Bakugous hand as they walked.
Bakugou led Kirishima to the building.
They got to the top and Bakugou laid out the blanket for them to sit on.
“Here’s your chips.” Bakugou opened the shopping bag.
“Thanks, Bakugou.” Kirishima said.
“Yeah, well, I know they’re your favourite.” Bakugou opened an energy drink and took a sip.
“No, man. Thanks for going out of your way to make this night awesome. Even though I was late.” Kirishima chuckled.
“It’s no big deal.” Bakugou said.
The night sky slowly lit up. “Hey, look! It’s starting.” Kirishima smiled brightly at the sky.
He pulled his knees to his chest and wrapped his arms around them. He felt like a kid.
“Woah.” Kirishima said.
Bakugou knew how pretty the sky looked. But he only looked at Kirishima.
“Kirishima,” Bakugou said quietly.
“Yeah?” Kirishima didn’t take his eyes off the sky.
Bakugou saw the reflection of the meteors in his eyes.
He reached down and held Kirishima’s hand.
Kirishima gripped back without second guessing. He was so excited to see the meteor shower that he didn’t mind Bakugou holding his hand at all.
In fact, it felt nice.
“Hey,” Bakugou spoke again.
“could I kiss you?”
Kirishima’s head snapped to look at Bakugou.
“What?” He said, a nervous smile forming on his face.
“Could I.. kiss you?” Bakugou asked again.
Kirishima’s face was lit up from the meteor shower.
He looked so pretty.
“You- you want to kiss me?” Kirishima asked.
Bakugou just nodded his head. His face was getting redder the longer Kirishima stared at him.
Bakugou pushed hair out of Kirishima’s eyes.
Kirishima started to lean in.
And so did Bakugou.
Kirishima cupped Bakugous face as their lips met.
“Woah.” Kirishima said in a breathy voice.
“Yeah that.. that didn’t suck.” Bakugou looked away nervously.
Kirishima chuckled.
They both looked back up into the sky.
“This is a good night.” Kirishima laid his head on Bakugous shoulder.
“Yeah.”
