Stardust and rainfall. It wasn't much, but it was enough to settle your violent outbursts when you couldn't hold them in any more.
When you first fell in love with rain, you were captivated by how water just magically poured from the sky. You had never seen anything like it before, but you were fascinated with it, and eventually it became something that you always appreciated, even if you didn't like getting rained on.
With stardust, a similar thing took place. You still recall how unsteady you were as you reached out to stroke Star Platinum's hair, ready to jerk back at any second. You were startled to see how strange glitter covered your hand as you cautiously and delicately ran your fingers through his hair. You took a step back for a second to examine the sparkling dust that covered it. The way it twinkled shifted as you curiously turned your hand around, giving it an iridescent appearance in the soft morning light.
Star Platinum was staring at you the entire time, but you weren't aware of it until you tried reaching back into his hair and noticed that he was, in fact, gazing right at you. Flustered, you quickly faced away from him.
And yet, he approached you and lowered his head, seemingly urging you to carry on with what you were doing at the time. Although it was unexpected, you complied. Even though he was trying to encourage you to smother your hands in his hair, you continued to shiver as you had earlier, fearful of what he might do at any moment.
You noticed how huge he truly was as you struggled to braid his hair, trying to grasp at strands that seemed to float as if they were underwater.
You had been a couple meters away from him when you had first encountered him. It had been like looking at a picture of a skyscraper. While it was understandable that a skyscraper would appear enormous in a photograph, you could only truly appreciate its size in person as it reached high into the clouds as though it were an arm reaching out to scar the sky. A sky scraper, perhaps.
And thinking of scars, you found a strange linear scar that seemed to cut cleanly along the side of his face. It seemed like it had been capable of slicing open his head just like a cake. And although you hesitated, you reached out and traced your finger along it, leaving a faint dust stain on his purple skin. It was understandable that you wouldn't have noticed it at first because you lacked the courage to look at his face for more than a few seconds or make eye contact until now.
And then you remembered.
You felt the horrible taste of iron, and you were fairly certain that some of the blood you were covered in wasn't your own. It was like being struck by lightning. The harm is done, and then it happens and ends almost as quickly as it began, leaving only the echo of the thunder and perhaps some burning debris in its wake. It's possible that the battle lasted much longer, but you were too concerned with protecting your own life to remember.
The lightning was their attack; the thunder was the cry of victory that tore through you; and the flame left behind were the scars that covered most of your body, which had been hidden away by the fabrics you wore.
Perhaps it was the universe's way of consoling you as it began to rain. It seemed as though you were in a movie as you looked up at the sky.
You cried despite not understanding why. Why did you have to be the victim of such an assault that fateful night?
Even though it wasn't your first time fighting, the experience would stick in your memory forever, burned into your mind.
For the first time, you understood how truly alive you were. You weren't impervious to everything. Despite the fact that you had strengths that no other human could have had without a stand, you were ultimately just as mortal as they were. And as eye-opening as it was, you realized that it was the reason you wept. The realization of how your life could easily be taken away like it was nothing after such a fight would devastate anyone.
Star Platinum wiped a tear from your eye, bringing you back to the present.
Were you crying the entire time?
He invited you to sit in front of him as he slowly sat down on the ground, before gesturing first to his scar and then back to your body.
Was he trying to ask if he could see your scars?
Despite your hesitation, you removed some of the garments which were covering you, exposing your battle-marred body, which had experienced numerous battles as well as the occasional misadventure.
You felt relaxed by the way he smoothed his fingers over the gashes. He drew you close to his chest, holding you like a young child would a stuffed animal, making you tremble slightly.
You were very awkwardly pressed into his chest as his hands caressed your back, and you could feel the warmth emanating from him.
Being held in such a manner has been strange. This was the first time someone's ever cared for you at all.
His eyes caught your attention as you looked right up at him. They gave you a caring look in return, and he smiled. Oh, you could very well kill someone to keep that smile safe.
You realized as you closed your eyes blissfully that Star Platinum would take care of you no matter what difficulties you encountered or what transpired to you. Even though you were unsure if this was love, you had a natural inclination that it might as well be.
For now, it was just the two of you. And at this point, that was the only thing that mattered. It was a memory that would stick with you forever, something that shone in a dark sea.
