Work Text:

“urrrrrgh”

It was 12:00 PM. Tangle was in the kitchen about to make some coffee when she heard her girlfriend, Whisper, sounding like a zombie.

“Well, good morning, sleeping beauty,” she teased as Whisper came down the stairs, eyes somehow more closed than they usually are. “You got up later than me, which is saying something.”

“please,” Whisper groaned, trying to straighten her hair. “not so louuud”

“Sorry, sorry,” Tangle chuckled. “…hold on, where are you going?”

The wolf has headed towards the door. “out to get something to eat. spiral hill is only a few minutes away, i can just go to the bakery there”

Tangle took some coffee and poured it in the coffee maker. “I can go if you want! You’re basically half asleep.”

“no thank you,” Whisper muttered. “don’t want your coffee to get too cold. and the walk will wake me up”

“What if I made some for you before you-?”

“can get some while i’m out”

Man, you are REALLY committed to going to that bakery, Tangle thought. “…well, alright. Just don’t trip and fall down the front stairs, okay?”

“mhm” And with that, Whisper was out the door.

-

3 MINUTES LATER

-

“Alright, it’s ready!” Tangle exclaimed, taking the coffee pitcher and pouring herself a cup. Today felt like it was gonna be a lazy day for the two. They would watch a bunch of movies, chat about what’s going on in their lives, cuddle, and-

Tangle’s thought were interrupted when she heard the inaudible chatter of Whisper’s wisps coming from beside the front door. Curious, she got up to see what was going on.

“Something wrong, you guys?” she asked as she got closer.

The cyan blue wisp pointed to the hanger on the wall, and Whisper’s cloak was there.

Knowing that Whisper was one that liked to have her cloak on when out in town, Tangle immediately become concerned.

“Ah crap, Whisp forgot her cloak!” she said. “And she’s probably already in town… it probably wouldn’t make sense to just walk all the way up and give it to her…”

The wisps then all turned to each other, and made faces that Tangle could only assume were mischievous grins (she couldn’t tell when the only things on their faces were eyes).

“…alright, what are you guys, planning?”

The pink wisp tapped Tangle’s shoulder, then tapped the cloak.

“Wait…” Tangle realized. “You want me to WEAR it??”

The wisps all nodded excitedly.

“OHHH, no. Absolutely not,” Tangle shook her head. “The only times I allow myself to put it on is when she offers to let me wear it on cooler days.”

All the wisps gave her puppy-dog eyes in an attempt to change her mind.

The lemur glared at them, crossing her arms. “You can try looking cute all you want! I am NOT putting it on!”

-

Tangle had put on the cloak.

“I can’t believe you all talked me into this…” she grumbled. “And that’s saying a lot cause I have no idea what you’re saying without Whisper’s mask!!”

She sighed, walking to the bathroom mirror to get a good look at herself as the wisps followed her, trying not to laugh.

After looking at herself, Tangle slowly started to change her mind. “…y’know, I look pretty cool in this! I kinda look like a superhero!”

The cyan wisp, behind Tangle started throwing its arms out as if to throw punches, and did some cool superhero poses.

“Huh?” Tangle tilted her head to the side. “You want me to do some impressions?”

All of the wisps nodded again, even more enthusiastic.

“Putting it on wasn’t enough for you guys? Ugh, you’re killing me here…”

-

“I am vengeance…”

All the lights in the living room were turned off, and all the windows were shut.

“I AM THE NIGHT.”

A mysterious figure was looming on top of the couch, too dark to see. However, the orange wisp turned on a flashlight to reveal it.

“I AM… BATLEMUR!!”

The light revealed Tangle in the dark cloak, one foot on the ridge of the couch, and in a determined pose.

A fan was turned on, causing the cloak to flow with the wind.

“…okay okay, I’ll admit,” Tangle sighed. “This is pretty funny, and I do look pretty cool.”

The wisps watching her were all clapping for her (Well, the blue, green and orange wisps LOOKED like they were clapping, at least).

“Oh, you guys are getting into this huh?” Tangle said. “Well, for my next impression, I’m gonna need your help!”

-

This was probably the most fun Tangle has had being home without Whisper in the house.

All the wisps were carrying her around the house as she was making a flying superhero pose, while also laughing hard.

“Look up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!…”

Then the front door opened.

“Tangle?” A fully awake Whisper called. “Is my cloak-?”

She arrived into the house just in time to see the wisps, who stopped dead in their tracks at the sight of her, flying Tangle.

“IT’S SUPERLEMU- hey, why’d you guys stop?” she asked before turning her head. “…UHHHHH…”

The wisps all looked at Tangle, then back at Whisper, worried about what was going to happen.

“You, uh… forgot your cloak??” Tangle said with a nervous smile.

I am so dead .

“…okay Whisper look, I’m SO sorry.” she tried to explain, her hands waving frantically. “The wisps talked me int-“

“PFFFF HAHAHAHAHA!!”

THAT wasn’t the response any of them were expecting.

Tangle and the wisps stared, dumbfounded, as Whisper clutched her stomach, laughing hard.

“You-! Heh heh… Are you trying to be a - *SNORT* - some sort of superhero?! What is that?!” she asked, before getting into another laughing fit.

The wisps let Tangle down so she could approach the giggling wolf.

“Hey, blame your wisps. They made me get into it more than I should have,” she snickered. “Didja get something to eat?”

“*SNORT* Y-yes,” Whisper replied, trying to stifle her cackles. “Had some cinnamon rolls. Also got a coffee on the way back… seriously though, I’d like my cloak, please.”

Tangle took off the cloak to hand it to her. “Alright, alright. We had our fun anyway… hey, quit laughing! The moment’s passed already!” she yelled playfully, seeing that Whisper was covering her mouth trying not to have another laughing fit.

“I-I can’t help it! Why would I walk into the house expecting my wisps carrying a lemur in my cloak??”

“Heh heh… fair point.”

An awkward silence between the two emerged.

“So, um…” Whisper started, fully composed now. “I’m feeling a bit lazy today. You?”

“Yeah, same,” Tangle nodded. “Hows about we spend the day cuddling and watching movies?”

“I’d like that,” Whisper nodded, wagging her tail.

-

A few minutes later, the two of them were sprawled over the couch, with Whisper leaning on Tangle, while the latter caressed her hair.

“So where did the idea of you being a “superlemur” come from?” Whisper suddenly asked.

“Hey, thank these guys,” Tangle gestured to the top of the couch, where the wisps were watching. “They puppy-dog-eyed me into doing it, and I did get a bit too into it. I am glad I got a laugh out of you though!

The wolf blushed, pressing her cheek against Tangle’s chest fluff. “S’been a while since I laughed like that.”

“I should make ya do that often,” the lemur purred. “You’re adorable like that.”

“Oh, stop,” Whisper blushed harder. Then she decided it’d be best to change the subject. “It’s your turn to pick the movies this time, isn’t it?”

“Oh yeah!” Tangle beamed. She took the remote from the ridge of the couch, turned on the TV and went straight to their streaming service. “Chao In Space 2 just launched on this service recently!”

Whisper hummed. “Hopefully it’s better than the first one. In my opinion, it was a 6/10 at best.”

Tangle gasped, pretending to be offended. “How DARE you,” she said, getting a laugh out of Whisper. It was a small laugh, but a laugh nonetheless.

With one’s hand holding the other’s, and eyes on the TV screen, the couple (and wisps) were prepared for a long, lazy day.

Notes:
