Riddle didn’t think it would affect Floyd this much honestly. French was a language that many people spoke, he can even name a few people he knew that spoke the language. (Ruggie from Savannaclaw and Kalim from Scarabia are great examples)
But to be honest…he’s a little happy that Floyd got so excited over it. Just a little.

It started when he and Cater were having a friendly argument. Yes arguments can be friendly. And yes the entire conversation was in French.
“Allez Riddle juste une photo c'est tout ce que je demande”
“Et je t'ai dit plusieurs fois Cater la réponse est non, tu posteras juste la photo sur magicam de toute façon”
“oui mais je te taguerais pour que tu vois combien de personnes ont aimé et commenté à quel point tu es jolie”
As they talked in the dorm, many people walked by and didn’t notice anything off. It was not a big deal for kids here to speak French after all.
But as they talked they didn’t notice how time passed by and how Riddle was supposed to be on a date with a certain eel.
Said eel was at the dorm now, grumbling as he walked.
“Mm…Goldfishie wouldn’t forget our date right??”

As he walked into the dorm full of wonder and mazes, he walked into the main lounge where he heard two people having a conversation in a language he didn’t know.
“à quel point serait-il agréable de voir tous les commentaires de floyds sur l'énigme post ? ? il commente tellement en disant à quel point tu es jolie c'est adorable !!”
“Eh bien, je suppose que les commentaires qu'il tape sont gentils..”
Cater looked up and noticed Floyd watching at Riddle with awe and said
“en parlant de Floyd il est juste là”
“Huh??”
Riddle turned and he saw Floyd and quickly remembered how they planned to go down to the town today for their date. And how he was 25 mins late. Because of a conversation about magicam of all things.
“Oops I gotta go!! Kalim and Lilia are waiting for me at club today!! # seeyouguyslater!!”
Cater quickly left leaving Floyd and Riddle alone in the lounge,Not realizing how awkward it is. Or is just Riddle??
“I’m sorry Floyd I forgot about our date toda-“
“What language was that?? The one you were speaking with Sea Bream”
“…French??”
“Speak it again”
Riddle looked up at Floyd,really looked at Floyd. And noticed how he was biting his lips in anticipation and was rocking back and fourth on his feet. Floyd was actually…excited??
“…why??”
“Goldfishie sounded so cool when he talked to Sea Bream in that language!!”
“What about our date??”
“It can wait!! Just wanna hear Goldfishie speak that french language again!!”
Riddle sighed, he didn’t expect Floyd to react like this over him speaking another language,its quite cute really.
“Je t'aime beaucoup Floyd”
Floyds eyes practically sparkled and he suddenly picked up Riddle and started spinning him around despite his protests.
“GOLDFISHIE SOUNDS SO FANCY AND COOL SPEAKING FRENCH!!”
“FLOYD PUT ME DOWN!!”

They went on their date, However Floyd kept asking Riddle to speak in French,it was silly really.
Thats not to say Riddle didn’t like the attention. He did. Just a little.
