Tell Me Life Is Beautiful

Summary:

Atsumu, Osamu and Suna have been away for a few weeks doing advertisement and Kiyoomi and Atsumu wait for them to come home

Work Text:

Kiyoomi's fingers nervously tapped on the table in Onigiri Miya, he had taken the table tucked away in the corner but he was still scared that everyone was staring at him, wondering why he was there alone instead of with somebody. Which wasn't completely true, he could see Osamu out of the corner of his eyes, glancing Kiyoomi's way every so often between serving customers but Kiyoomi was trying not to focus on that, he was waiting for Atsumu.

Atsumu had been away on an advertisement job for a few weeks now and Kiyoomi missed him so much it was beginning to hurt him.

It was the off season for volleyball meaning that there was no practice for a month before they were starting to go back two practices a week until a month before the season started where they'd be back at training six times a week so Atsumu had accepted a branded advertisement job where he was modelling and he had left three weeks ago and today was the day he was coming back.

The two of them had agreed to meet at Osamu's restaurant instead of their house because two other people had joined Atsumu on the job and that was Suna and Komori who were Osamu's boyfriends. The four of them were who Kiyoomi considered his family so, he of course wanted to see Suna, who he'd consider his best friend and of course Komori, his cousin again because he'd missed them but not as much as Atsumu.

Kiyoomi was beginning to feel like an actual piece of him was missing with Atsumu gone for so long. The two of them had been together for almost seven years now, since they were eighteen and Kiyoomi hated how dependant he'd become on the other man but he'd never had that before. Never had anyone that loved him so unconditionally. The only person he'd had growing up was his cousin, he wasn't close with either his parents or any of his siblings and now he'd made his own little family and that was thanks to Atsumu. Atsumu who had always showed such patience with him, who'd never pushed his boundaries, who loved him on his best and worst days. Atsumu who had helped him join his little family, even if he'd felt left out to start with since Atsumu had obviously known Osamu his whole life and Suna for a long time too and then the two of them started to bring Komori along to their hangouts and the rest was history.

And Kiyoomi was secretly grateful he no longer had to listen to Komori's hopeless pining over the other two.

Kiyoomi was trying to waste time by playing some pointless games on his phone as the time slowly ticked over towards 7pm when the restaurant closed. He'd agreed to help Osamu on the cleaning process as Osamu said he was the best at it, which he was. And then they'd be able to waste the last hour and a half together cleaning until half 8 when the others were due to appear. He couldn't help the nerves that were gathered in the bottom of his stomach, what if Atsumu had found someone else whilst he'd been away? And was going to come and tell him he was leaving? Kiyoomi knew it was irrational and stupid, he'd facetimed with Atsumu the night before, but he couldn't help it.

"Kiyoomi, I can hear you over thinking from here!" Osamu called, he was standing behind the till counting the money he had. His workers had all finished for the night and the Osamu was just finishing off his final tasks as Kiyoomi sat on one of the bar stools, tapping his foot, staring at the clock. They only had a couple of minutes left to wait an Kiyoomi was sure the anticipation was going to kill him.

"Sorry," he mumbled.

"No no, it's okay," Osamu replied, coming to sit next him. "My brother ain't worth stressin' about," Osamu joked and Kiyoomi rolled his eyes with a smirk, ready to reply but then the door to the restaurant opened, revealing two grinning faces and a tired smile from Suna.

"Honey I'm home!" Atsumu called out, a cheesy phrase he said he'd gotten from watching an American movie whilst they were away.

Osamu was on his feet in an instant, running over to hug Komori and Suna as Atsumu strided over to Kiyoomi and Kiyoomi didn't waste another second he let himself hug Atsumu close to his chest. He smelt of aeroplane and sweat but for once, Kiyoomi didn't care. He felt like he could breathe again, he let himself melt into Atsumu's embrace and let his eyes slip closed for a couple of seconds.

"I missed you," he whispered.

"I missed ya too Omi," Atsumu replied, pulling away to rest a hand on Kiyoomi's cheek gently. "Never let me go away again, I don't wanna be away from ya for that long again."

"I agree."

"Oi, nice ta know ya missed ya own flesh and blood too!" Osamu called, smacking the back of Atsumu's head. "Stop being all lovey dovey in ma restaurant."

"Shut ya trap Samu!" Atsumu called back, pulling Osamu into a hug anyway as Kiyoomi stepped aside to greet the other two.

"Ah my actual favourite," Suna joked, much to the protest of Osamu and Komori. Kiyoomi rolled his eyes and pulled Suna into a quick hug before moving to hug Komori too. "Nah, I did miss you Kiyo."

"I missed you guys too," Kiyoomi replied.

The five of them stayed in the restaurant for a good two hours, having a couple of drinks and just catching up on the last few weeks but soon Kiyoomi felt a weight drop onto his shoulder as he was in conversation with Suna about a volleyball game they'd gone to see whilst in America. Kiyoomi looked down to see Atsumu resting his head on Kiyoomi's shoulder, his eyes fluttering closed and Kiyoomi was sure he fell in love all over again in that moment.

As much as Atsumu came across as arrogant and confident most of the time, it took a lot for him to actually let people in and trust them completely so seeing him happy to fall asleep on Kiyoomi's shoulder, knowing Kiyoomi was someone Atsumu trusted so wholeheartedly was something that Kiyoomi valued so highly and he wanted to cry sometimes over how much he truly loved the man next to him.

"I think I need to take this one home," Kiyoomi laughed, running his fingers through Atsumu's hair. "'Tsumu, you ready to go home?"

"Yeah," he mumbled. Kiyoomi rolled his eyes as Atsumu tucked himself closer to Kiyoomi, resting his face in the crook of Atsumu's neck. Kiyoomi called an uber for them and then one for the others, gently managing to get Atsumu back on his feet as the five of them moved towards the door together.

"Right, we'll see ya guys in a couple of days then," Osamu said, he had Suna clinging onto one hand looking like he was ready to fall asleep standing up whilst Komori had his arm looped around Osamu's other arm, looking like he was ready to take on the day still; Kiyoomi had never understood where his cousin got all of his energy from. Kiyoomi nodded whilst Atsumu dozed on his shoulder.

The ride home was pretty quiet. Their uber driver didn't seem one for small talk and Kiyoomi was happy to sit in silence in the back whilst he tried to keep Atsumu awake for the ten minute drive across town.

"Oh ma god, ma own bed," Atsumu groaned, throwing himself down on the sheets. "Ima go and shower Omi and then I'm ready to sleep for the next six days."

"You are a big baby," Kiyoomi said fondly, letting Atsumu press a kiss to his lips before he disappeared into the bathroom.

Kiyoomi was pretty sure his own shower was a record for how short a time to stayed in there, he was pretty sure it couldn't have been more than ten minutes as he jumped out and changed in record time, quickly brushing his teeth before returning to the bedroom to see Atsumu curled up under the sheets, fighting to keep his eyes open. Kiyoomi's heart just about burst as he curled up next to him, letting Atsumu rest his head against his chest.

"I missed you so much Atsu, I felt like a part of me was missing," Kiyoomi mumbled, pressing a soft kiss to the top of Atsumu's head.

"I missed ya too Omi, I never want to go away again. I love ya so much, I hated being away from ya."

"I love you too Atsumu, I hated you being away from me too. Thank you for coming home."

"Thank ya for waiting for me." Atsumu whispered, his breathing soon evening out.

Kiyoomi rolled his eyes fondly, resting his chin onto of Atsumu's head and letting sleep overtake him.
