Chapter Text

He doesn't know why he waited this long.

By the third hour, Izuku knew his date wasn’t coming, but he still held onto that stupid little hope that he will show up, and that this all would not have been for nothing.

And as he sat there still, he realized that this was pointless.

Izuku was tired, frustrated, he couldn’t handle the sight of the same waiters passing back and forth, right by his table, where he sat alone.

And if he saw the pitying glances some threw his way, he didn’t comment on it.

Izuku could only fidget with his phone so much until he knew when to call a quits.

He took a deep breath in, steadying himself so as to not start crying in the middle of the restaurant. As he prepared himself to leave, there was suddenly a person in front of him-

“What’s a pretty little thing like you sitting here all by yourself?

The voice came as a surprise to Izuku. As he looked up, there stood a tall man with shadowy black hair, and bluest eyes he had ever seen, looking down at him.

“Sorry, I just couldn’t help but notice someone as gorgeous as yourself was sitting alone, and, well, I just couldn’t help myself.”

That made Izuku blush, no one had ever complimented him before, let alone a complete stranger calling him beautiful.

“I’m Dabi by the way.”

Dabi.

Izuku doesn’t know why, but he thought that name suited the man.

As he introduced himself, Dabi held out a tattooed hand to which Izuku took kindly, and he sat across from him.

Izuku quickly forgot why he had been sad once the other man started talking to him.

For the rest of the night, Dabi kept him company.

And for the first time in a long time, Izuku smiled, and laughed as Dabi told him stories, as they shared little details about themselves.

They stayed at that restaurant until closing. Engulfed in each other's presence, they talked as if they had known one another for years.

And Izuku liked it. He loved it.

No one had ever made him feel the way he has before tonight, and he thinks he doesn’t ever want it to end.

And maybe it doesn’t have too.

As Dabi offers to walk him home, he graciously accepts, and the rest is history.

In his mind, Izuku was thankful that Katsuki didn’t show up.

He got to meet someone new, someone that made him happy.

And as Dabi wraps his trench coat around him, Izuku doesn’t know what could be better than this.
