Sighing for the Nth time, Izuku kept scrolling though his job search app, He really needed to find a job (and fast) as he was rapidly growing older and began noticing that all of his friends now had jobs too. Asui, Todoroki, Sero, and more. He'd been invited out multiple times but had to keep denying as he felt too bad using his mothers money. She worked incredibly hard and for what? For Izuku to blow it on bowling or beach days?
He sighed again, not even realising he'd done it this time, and scrolled some more whilst hugging his favourite pillow
His eyes fluttered open however, at the sight of the first interesting job he'd come across that wasn't fireman or social security guard. This job, was apparently about taken care of resident wildlife at his local aquarium. It had been closed for years to the public now, but every so often there were rumours and whispered of it reopening, coming back with a different name. The Underground Aquarium, also known as UA.
He'd been there many-a-time when he was younger, he would love to stare up at the fish swimming over his head, and giggle to his mother about which fish looked prettiest. A fuzzy feeling ignited in Izuku's chest about telling his mother he now worked at the old aquarium they used to love. So he clicked on it, searching for a number or email, or anything to get in contact to see if the job was still available with haste. He'd noticed they were only hiring one applicant and the job was posted 10+ days ago, so it wasn't looking good. But the small fire in his gut wouldn't dissipate at the thought of seeing the inside of the old building once more.
Reaching the bottom of the page, Izuku bit his lip and sat up in excitement, holding his phone close as he copied the number to his phones clipboard. It was around three in the evening when he plucked up the courage to call, and waited for someone to pick up.
The flame in his abdomen dwindled slightly as the ringing went on, and on for a solid minute. And just as he was about to put the phone down, a tired voice came from the other end.
"This is Toshinori Yagi from the Underground Aquarium, I must inform you that we are still not open to the public for the next six months but if you have any questions or quires you can visit the website-'
Izuku interrupted Toshinori in worry before he could end the call. "I'm actually calling about applying for a job that was put up around ten days ago? I-I was wondering if that position was still available? Perhaps?"
He waited for a bit, wondering if the line had accidentally been cut off before the man on the other end spoke again. "What is your name?"
"Izuku Midoriya, sir. I'm 19 and I live in the the village the next town over from the aquarium?"
Another silence.
"How fast can you get here, young Midoriya?"
