Chapter Text
Blue eyes opened to a low popcorn ceiling. Chuuya drearily rolled out of bed,the same cycle he had gotten used to over the past few weeks.
“It’s too early to be awake,” He grumbled, looking back at his lovely, comfortable bed longingly.
“My darlingest brother, you better get up right the fuck now or else you’re grounded for a month!” Verlaine barged into Chuuya’s cramped room.
“I swear to god I will tell Rimbaud if you so much as lay an ugly finger-“ before Chuuya could so eloquently finish his sentence he was unfortunately interrupted, betrayed by his most loyal sibling, Kouyou, as she rushed into the room as well. His poor room couldn’t fit this many people- it was barely large enough for his bed and a desk, definitely not suited for an angry ginger, a dignified lady and a psychotic man child to fit into.
“Lad, please don’t mind Paul, your bus is leaving in thirty minutes. You will not be late.”
At Kouyou’s command Chuuya shot out of his room, elbowing both Verlaine and Kouyou on his way to the narrow kitchen and living room which stood at the end of a short hall. The kitchen was nearly empty, as they couldn’t afford much, but a box of cereal and milk was easy to find.
He hurried around the small apartment trying to find his wayward socks. He couldn’t be late today and he absolutely refused to be grounded this early in the damn school year!
He sped through a shower, brushed his teeth and got dressed. He decided not to conform to the school uniform (it’s not like they could afford it anyway), all in twenty minutes flat.
But of course something had to go wrong.
That something being Kyouka, the youngest of them all.
The youngest who had put up one hell of a fight to skip her first day of kindergarten.
“Kyouka, sweetie, you have to go.” Kouyou didn’t beg, she didn’t plead, but that had to be the closest thing to begging Chuuya had ever heard from that woman. “We will pick you up as soon as we can. I promise you’ll have fun.”
That moment was, however, quickly followed up by Verlaine as he scooped Kyouka off of the floor and onto his shoulder, like a sack of fucking potatoes!
“Ane-san help!” Kyouka shouted but to no avail as she was dragged away by the eldest.
Kouyou looked quite sad at the treatment of her little sister yet she spoke nothing of it, as Kyouka was five and was not allowed to stay home alone. Not to mention the place he called “home” was a crumbling apartment which is in no way suited for a young child like Kyouka.
“Come on lad, we need to leave.” Kouyou paused, whether for dramatic effect or contemplation Chuuya didn’t know. “Did you pack your lunch?”
“Yes,”
“You have your keys?”
“… yes.”
“Phone?”
“Yes! Of course I brought my fucking phone!”
“Chuuya! What have I told you about cursing?” Unsurprisingly his sister sounded quite stern.
“… sorry Ane-san,” Kouyou sighed at his response.
“Next time make your apology more believable.” The poised woman rolled her eyes, (somehow elegantly yet Chuuya could not fathom how) and walked out the house. She hadn't even looked back. Okay, Chuuya might have deserved that. His apology didn’t even sound passable to him.
Chuuya locked the door and ran to catch up with his sister.
Hopefully nothing else will go wrong.
. . . . . .
Chuuya may not be a spiritual man but he was beginning to think he may have angered a god in some way.
After he got on the dirty ass bus he made direct eye contact with a stupidly tall mummified man.
This wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing but the giant seemed to take this as an invitation to fuck with him.
To further his suffering, Chuuya was alone because Kouyou was headed to her university which was in the opposite direction from his school. His new school. If you asked him, Chuuya would say his old school was fine, good even! But after getting in trouble for fighting some of Shirase’s bullies (again might he add) he was finally kicked out.
A cold finger poking his cheek quickly ended his train of thought.
“What the fuck?” He asked because being poked by a stranger was very… unusual to say the least.
“I was just checking to see if you were real. You’re so short that I thought I started hallucinating!” The tall stranger acted this as if it explained everything.
“What did you just say?!”
“Oh is it hard to hear me from all the way down there?”
That’s it! Chuuya had enough of this bullshit! He walked closer to the egregiously tall teenager ready to kick his ass.
Things don’t often go according to plan for Chuuya. Although the walking mummy wasn’t far away-he’d gotten close enough to poke Chuuya just a second ago- the bus had decided this was a great fucking time to hit a stupid road bump, making it so that through an unforeseen event, Chuuya ended up losing his balance.
This was doubly bizarre as Chuuya had very good balance, some would say his combination of kick boxing and parkour have made it so that he can defy gravity, but even Chuuya lost his footing occasionally.
And somehow the string bean had managed to catch him.
Fucking brilliant.
“Watch out! If you fall from this height your tiny body might splatter and die!” The brown haired freak of a man sounded genuinely distressed. Which only served to piss Chuuya off more.
“Let go of me you asshole!”
“But I don’t want my new fun sized friend to die! I must protect him from this cruel world~”
The nerve of this man!
“Oi you crazy bastard I don’t need your protection!” Chuuya shouted, causing some other passengers to look over.
“I think I heard something…. it was almost like someone was speaking from very very far away…. hmm it’s very strange indeed.”
“I know you can hear me!”
“There it is again!”
“You motherfu-“ Chuuya was cut off by the sound of the opening doors. This was his stop and it seemed the bandaged stranger was headed out too.
Up until that point Chuuya had been too distracted by the other guy's obnoxious behavior to really pay any attention to detail, but now that the two of them were out of the bus and in the bright morning sun, he finally noticed the horrendous clothing the other teen was wearing. A black gakuran with the top left unbuttoned so his bandages remained visible, sleek black shoes and jet black pants which looked tailor made. Chuuya had thought feel bad for not wearing the uniform but he couldn’t be happier about his red blazer and white shirt combo, a loose tie, and plaid pants.
His new school’s uniform looked even shittier than his old one.
Wait.
That was his new school’s uniform.
The vertical overachiever was going to the same school as chuuya.
His day just keeps getting worse.
“Cheer up little buddy.” Tall guy flashed a shit eating grin, “We might be in the same class.”
Chuuya was absolutely going to murder his soon to be classmate.
