Work Header

I’ll always remember you (Except for the time I didn’t)

Summary:

Max Caulfield has a plan. Go back and time, threaten to jump off a plane, and have her parents stay in Arcadia Falls. Except that didn’t work and now she’s free falling from a plane, hoping that she doesn’t die.

Em Reid was raised by a genius so she sort of became one by osmosis. She knows tons of things, like how to tell the weight of someone by looking at footprints left in blood or how to tell the killers gender by looking at wounds on a victim. The only thing she doesn’t know is who she was.

When Em goes through a traumatic experience and her memories as Max Caulfield are unlocked she goes back to Arcedia bay. When strange things start to happen Max swears she’ll get to the bottom of it, because although she might go by Caulfield again she’s a Reid through and through.

Max Caulfield doesn’t know that she is a time traveler. Max suffers an accident when she was ten, and ends up losing her memory. She goes by Em Reid, and has a new family until a traumatic event leaves her alone again, but with her memories.

Chapter 1: Maybe opening that plane door wasn’t a great idea

Chapter Text

Max Caulfield is currently free falling 35,000 feet, or 10668 meters if you’re British which Max is in fact not, barreling towards the ground without a parachute. Her smart idea was to go back in time to when she was 10, and threaten to jump out of a plane to slightly change the future and stay in Arcadia Bay, while maybe getting herself some therapy while she was at it. What she didn’t expect was to accidentally fall out of said plane. Just her luck.

Max was completely and utterly screwed. She was rewinding, and rewinding but couldn’t get back in the plane. She rewound over and over again, each time slowing her momentum slightly. Her nose was slick with blood and her head felt like it was about to burst out of her skull but she couldn’t stop now. Too soon she reached the ground going too fast.

Black.

“Hey?”

The girl looked at the strange man.

“What’s your name?”

“Ummm,”

“Do you not know it?”

The girl shook her head.

“I’ll just call you Umm for now”, the man smiled. “Cause that’s all you’re saying.”

“Hey!” The girl said. “That’s a horrible name. At least call me something like M. That’s closer to” She trails off. What was M closer to?

“Hey it’s ok Em,” the man says after seeing the confusion and panic in the girl’s eyes. “The doctor said that you probably went through severe blunt trauma and will forget some things for a while.”

“Doctor?” ‘Em looked around at her surroundings for the first time. She was in a white room on a bed. There were machines beeping around her. “I’m in a hos-“

Em tried to remember the word. “Hosp-“ She stopped.

“Hospital” the man supplied. “I’m Spencer Reid and I’m the one who found you. I’ll be taking care of you until we find your parents.”

“Ok,” Em responded, and she slowly slipped back into unconsciousness.
