Work Text:
„And you are sure about that?“ Ben asked slightly nervous as he looked at the door. Klaus could come in any minute. „To be honest, I feel kinda bad. He tried to contact me the last three weeks. And hiding as a ghost feels really stupid.“ Ben chuckled at that. „Okay. As long as you‘re fine with it. You know, it‘s Klaus.“ he smiled at her sweetly before taking her hand in his.
He really missed her all those years. Even though he couldn‘t say that he was happy, now that she was dead, he felt a little bit more complete and not so utterly alone anymore. He could finally tallk to her again and she would actually respond. Somehting he missed the most.
And she was kinda happy too. No one was happy to die but she was happy to have Ben back.
She looked at him with the same smile and just as he was about to say something the door bursted open and Klaus stumbled in. „You‘re not gonna believe me what I just- AHHH!“ he screamed as he saw her and almost lost his balance. He looked at her in complete shock and confusion.
She chuckled as she literally could feel his loss of words. „What‘s the matter Klaus? You look like you‘ve seen a ghost.“ she said jokingly and had to laugh as his mouth hung open. „Hello? You have nothing to say to me?“ she asked with a grin as she walked up to him. „I have a lot to say.“ he said absendly and tried to touch her. But his hand went right through her. „Yeah well that wont work, sorry.“ she said with a smile and looked at Ben who watched the situation from the bed.
„How? Why? You- I-“ he began but shook his head and smiled slightly. „You really had to wait 2 months?! I knew you were there. I just coudn‘t find you. But 2 months? Come on (y/n).“ she shrugged and looked behind her. „Yeah I had to catch up for the last few years.“ Ben smiled at her as she said that and turned away as he remembered that Klaus was in the room as well.
„How did you know?“ she asked casually and sat back down on the bed. „Well I could kinda feel it. And I had the feeling that you wouldn‘t just leave.“ he said as he sat down beside her and Ben. „On the other hand, this idiot here seemed a lot more happy and relaxed. I don‘t know I figured it was you.“ he said and pointed at Ben. She gasped dramatically and looked at Ben. „You ruined my surprise!“ he looked playfully offended. „I did not. I tried my best okay?“ She began to laugh as Klaus interrupted them.
„Okay, okay. I‘m really happy for you two but please stop it.“ he said in a whining tone and ran his hands over his face. „Yeah okay. How‘s the rest doing?“ She asked curiously and leaned on her hand. She couldn‘t really bring herself to look after them. Maybe she was scared of how they reacted to her death.
„Well, Luther being Luther, he seems unbothered but I know he misses you. We all do. Uhm Diego has a really hard time. I‘m telling you, he has a temper at the moment. Allison sits at your grave everyday for atleast 2 hours and talks to you. Viktor does the same, but more on the evenings. And Five is-“ he stopped for a moment. „I don‘t really know how he‘s doing. I saw him rarely the last few weeks. He wont talk to any of us. He‘s mostly in his room. Working or whatever but by the looks of it I can tell you he isn‘t doing great. I think he misses you a lot more than he would admit. At the funeral he said you were his favorite. Really sweet of him, didn‘t know he could be a softie.“ she forced a smile and wiped away a single tear on her cheek.
„Oh Five‘s a big softie. Yall just don‘t know that. But don‘t tell him I said that.“ she said with a slight laugh and took Bens hand again. She needed the comfort. „Can you tell them something for me?“ Klaus nodded and listened carefully as she told him a little note for everyone.
And just in case he had to write it down so he wouldn‘t forget anything she had to say.
A few hours later Klaus gathered the family together and held the notes in his hand. Ben and you were also there. It took a lot of bravery but you managed to sit at the edge of a table, across from your siblings so you could see them. They all looked a bit tired and even sad but in general they looked like you remembered.
„So what is it?“ Diego asked tensed and crossed his arms infront of his chest. Klaus took a deep breath before he spoke. „Okay, you guys have to believe me, I finally found (y/n). And she wanted me to give you this.“ He said and held the notes up. They all sighed and murmured their thoughts out loud.
„How did you find her?“ Five asked and looked at Klaus with a little bit of hope in his eyes. „Well technically she found me. She was catching up with Ben and when I came home today I saw her with Ben. We talked a bit and that brings us back to the point.“ he said and gestured to the notes.
He gave everyone their note and smiled proudly as everyone went back to their rooms. „That went well.“ he said surprised and looked at his two siblings behind him. „Why weren‘t they so cooperative when I was still there? Would‘ve been way more easier.“
A few minutes later she went upstairs to the rooms of her siblings. She wanted to see if they actually believed Klaus or not. And to her suprise, it seemed like everyone did. They all were crying and smiling sadly at the note.
Her last stop was Five. He was always her favorite besides Ben. For her he was like an acutal little brother. As she got into the room she couldn‘t help but shed a tear as she saw him full on crying on his bed. He took a deep breath before he put the note next to a photo of them at which he smiled biefly and went back to work after wiping the few tears away.
„He really is a softie huh?“ Ben asked behind her. She jumped at the sudden appearance but nodded as an answer. „Told you.“ she said sadly and leaned against Bens shoulder while he laid an arm around her waist.
