“Felix, please,” Chan runs his tongue over the cracked bloody skin of his peeling lips. Dry. Like his throat, like the rocks, like the toxic gas that bubbles out of the mountain anew every day, sinking into the valley and suffocating everything in its wake. He would be choking back tears except this place has taken those from him too.
